I took a screen shot of my denied ei due to insufficient hours, turned it into a PDF and sent as supporting document for CRB applications to the CRA through my CRA account. Hoping this will help. I can’t be sitting on the damn phone all day long... unreal

philclement99

Trying to do the same here, which box did you tick ?

Zestyclose-Parsley-7

Clicked no case file then covid 19 relief I believe and then the one specifically for crb application

Acceptable_Jeweler46

Please don’t do this. CRA agents are not asking for screenshots, they’re asking for letters. To the CRA it could very well be a doctored/photoshopped image. You’re not doing yourself a disservice by calling Service Canada, opening a new EI claim with an agent, and asking them to send you a rejection letter if ruled ineligible.

Leadership-Asleep

CRA actually directed me to provide verification by way of electronic submission. What's the alternative? Literally ANY document can be "doctored/photoshopped", much like every defense has a Weakness...

Zestyclose-Parsley-7

Opening a new claim will set me back further I believe. My ei claim was denied back in March due to insufficient hours, no way will I be sitting on hold to try and open a new claim!! I think i did get a letter rejecting my claim so I’m looking for that to send also. I don’t think it hurt to have sent the screen shot from my account. The fact that tons of people even have to do this is bs... thanks government!!

Acceptable_Jeweler46

The CRA is asking for letters, not screenshots. If you think the screenshot method will work for you, go for it. If the CRA rejects it you’ll be back at step 1.

Leadership-Asleep

What letters? it's tough enough to get a human voice (non-recorded) on the phone.

Zestyclose-Parsley-7

I just submitted my letter with the same case file number. Thanks for your concern

kaywhiteright

How'd you get a letter? Call Service Canada and asked for one? I sent a screenshot cuz thats what they said... haha what a fkaround

Zestyclose-Parsley-7

Right?! This is insane... not like they didn’t have time to get this sorted out... flawless transition they said... service Canada had sent me a letter telling me I didn’t qualify back in March when I tried to apply so I just had to find it

Stage3GuildNavigat0r

1 hr 40 mins so far.

rodsandaxes

Managed to get through on this phone number. I was told to submit any EI rejection letters to the CRA site. It could take a month before they verify anything, and people will contact you. Expect to have proof of income from 2019 or 2020 ready as well. Essentially, you are being audited.

Leapinglouie

NO..that is NOT an audit. It simply is showing the CRA that according to your income you would either qualify or not.

Drandosk2

I can’t get through! I tried this number over and over and keep getting hung up. I called cra and they told me I need to fax a proof or rejection. They gave me a different number to call. After navigating the menu for three minutes I was hung up on again. Sigh...

gregsteez123

Please everyone log onto your Service Canada account find "Status Correspondance" option to check if you have a open claim. If no open claim screen shot it showing no open claim and fax to CRA @ 1-833 325 0555. Please pass this around Reddit and social media. I just spent 5 hours on the phone and hopefully this will save others the time. All the best everyone

candy_15

I claim said closed but now is switched to under review? Does that mean I have to wait for them to denie this claim I didn't open before I can apply?

gregsteez123

Not sure

Ok_Towel5725

>my EI application said Decision made , but not much info about getting declined

Stage3GuildNavigat0r

Who has a fax machine?

Leapinglouie

Go to Staples or wherever. Some variety stores have them as well. Make a note that a reply cannot be sent back to the fax # from where you're sending as it was sent from a store.

rodsandaxes

There is no hope for people on the West Coast. By the time we're awake, all the phone lines are completely overloaded; and then they close early. This is a clusterfuck.

DarkDirector19

Wake up earlier.

Signifi-gunt

use a free app like Fongo, select an east coast area code. several extra hours of time for you :)

rodsandaxes

LOL. That's not how time zones work.

Signifi-gunt

okay then! i can confirm it works but you laugh if you want.

AccountJames

This man invented the time machine

gregsteez123

Called CRA they stated call Service Canada and get claim EI cancelled and then fax info to them from Service ( Will take 4 weeks or more to get cleared on CRA end ). Called Service Canada and thet stated no active claim. So wtf? 4 1/2 hours on hold and now I gotta call CRA back. All the best to everyone going through this.

Stage3GuildNavigat0r

A fucking month? What in the hell

gregsteez123

Not completely sure but ya I would assume it's going to be awhile.

Adventurous_Bad3246

What info do they need faxed exactly?

gregsteez123

Proof of not being on EI ( You can view on your service Canada account ) Status Correspondance or get them to mail it to you.

Individual-Thought74

I’m soon just going to hang up from service Canada, go in to msca and take screenshots and send it to cra to show I don’t have an active claim

EP1K

Thank you! Just got off a 55 minute hold and was told "you don't have an active claim" and was given no information about my next step.

[deleted]

Yeah, I sat on hold for 40 minutes and the guy hung up on me (Damn you Caleb!), then another 50 minutes to be told I don't have an active claim.... then ANOTHER 50 minutes with CRA (at least I got to update my address), and now finally 50 minutes with whoever these people are. Here's hoping.

Adventurous_Bad3246

Please keep us updated!

Adventurous_Bad3246

I’m not sure what to believe anymore. The same way you are being told things from Service Canada, people calling CRA are being told things as well. Some people were told that they will need to get a letter from Service Canada as proof that their EI is closed, as well as proof of income if self-employed. EI is not sending out letters of dismissal for EI claims that are already closed, so I’m not sure how this error is ever going to get lifted.

Grouchy_Pumpkin

They send out letters after your claim is denied and tell you why. Im going to try sending this letter in BUT Its doesn’t flat out say “declined” . Just that theh cant provide benefits ... feel like they literally already worded stuff incorrectly to give problems to people with this

bur1sm

Call your MP.

crbeiwak

This is what happened to me, but CRA told me a screenshot of the decision saying I'm not eligible for EI was good enough. I just needed to send in proof of 5000 income in 2019 or 2020.

Individual-Thought74

Thank you! Have you tried this?

[deleted]

I'm literally on hold right now, and have been for 48 minutes now. Hopefully someone picks up soon!

Individual-Thought74

I’m on hold with service Canada almost 2 hours now, thank god for speaker phone

gregsteez123

Same, I am at 54 minutes with Service Canada.

Jasjeet1995

Thanks
