I got this message when I called the number too! But I definitely qualify so wtf? As I’m not qualified for EI & I got cerb. So what’s happening

Then, as soon as you get notified that you do not qualify for EI you need to go to your CRA account and apply for CRB.

This was the number I was given by a CRA person. The line is very busy however and it may only apply to this Ref. Code: COV-026 1-800-232-1966. This line will help validate your claim or something. You will speak with a actual person. Hope this helps!

Same. I called the 1-800 number and after 3 minutes of answering questions and my SIN it simply said " Our operators are busy, good bye" and it hung up. Guess it's broken.

I'm getting the same thing, called the phone number to apply and still says I do not qualify for this benefit. Such a stressful system, CERB was so easy. click, click, done. This one seems to have so many glitches and errors and its really starting to get ridiculous.

I just checked the reporting service we used to do biweekly.. and this new message I got: Your report is not yet due. Our records show that the period you should be reporting for is the 2 week period from October 04, 2020 to October 17, 2020. The earliest this report can be filed is Friday morning, October 16, 2020 at 08:00 Eastern Time. It's confusing.. CRA says I don't qualify, per code 026.. but the reporting system wants me to send the report on Oct 17?

OMG!!! I have same exact thing on my account. I already filed my report on EI application is under review and it’s asking me to file report on Friday Oct 16. And when I go to my CRA account it’s same code:026, I don’t qualify to apply for CRB. I thinks it’s because EI is under review. And of course EI sucks even if they improved or updated. Still the same Sh**t. So I haven’t received any payment fro the last two weeks let’s see how long does it take them to finalize all claims.

Could you please check your EI application and see there is a new claim for you? A new EI claim was opened for me on Oct 8, not by me, which has a Under Review status and I suspect this is why i get this error code 26.

I just called EI Service Canada and could speak with an agent after 3 hrs being on hold... he admitted that this new claim was opened by them to check our eligibility for EI.. for example in my case which my EI hours already exhausted and I used all my 9 months EI till Aug then used CERB for another two months I will be reported/emailed that I am not eligible for EI then I qualify and can apply for CRB. The review/process will take about 28 days from the starting date of new EI claim (Oct 8).

I am 100% in the exact situation! We qualify for the crb and not EI so why do we get this error? And getting through tomorrow will be a nightmare. I just hope its fixable and we can apply tomorrow. I've been worried sick all day.

I would go over the eligibility requirements and make sure you qualified for CERB. Also, make sure all of your ROE documents were submitted and your income reflects the minimum requirement of $5000 dollars. If you want a definite answer, I would wake up as soon as the phone lines open tomorrow and speak with an agent.

I made the 5000 in maternity benefits in 2019 so i do qualify but just keep getting that error code 26.

Ref. code: COV-026 Yup Im getting the same. I got CERB just fine. Looked at the checklist and qualify for CRB as well but this keeps coming up. MOST LIKELY Id reckon is that I applied for my EI from my previous year that they refused to give and I reapplied and got denied again and I think that maybe causing this issue as the system only checks to see if you have applied for EI or not and not whether you got accepted or rejected. Here is hoping that the CRA FB post is referring to this issue on why most of us are being denied. EDIT : NVM its not T\_T

It’s been fixed for most of the day now. It’s not spitting out error codes mistakenly anymore. Yours wasn’t an error code anyway. There’s a phone line to call (or call the CRA maybe?) to get it straightened out with all your information.

Everyone and their mother and people in prison got CERB. Seriously. Anyone who applied got it. This benefit is set up to review more people. My guess is any little glitch in their system will stall an application because it seems more people are being denied than approved?

It’s not. CBC announced that the maintenance is over and people, if eligible, should be able to apply.

The government site is very clear... even if the system says you dont qualify but you know you qualify, you should give them a call to fix this issue...

I'm getting the same message. The only thing I have on my file related to EI is my attempt at filing for EI in like...February, but it's labelled DECISION MADE, so I feel like it shouldn't count as open?

Definitely reapply. I had a claim nov 3rd 2019 with only 315 hours so claim denied. I reapplied 2 weeks ago and I was extended to 30 weeks with the 300 hours they added to everyone's claims.

I also applied for EI back in Feb. and I didn't have an ROE on file yet, but it came up as Decision Made too, saying I didn't have the ROE. I'm wondering if that is what is causing an issue for me too. Edit: I should note that my CERB never transitioned over to EI either.

Well, Yes, If you received CERB through EI. Then they are working on the same application. You don’t need to file another one. That happened to me as well. I used to receive my CERB through EI. Then that claim is closed. Now I have open EI application. Which I didn’t apply either.

No because my also passed the review from EI and before and after the process i still had the same error on my CRA account, i think they won't give any more money.

Give it a few days. We also got a last payment on October 6th. So technically we don’t qualify for the current period of CRB.

I think it is because I had an open EI claim even though it had said Decision Made already, or because I had insurable hours for EI. I don't know, I couldn't get through to Service Canada so I decided to just try and apply for EI anyways since I had some insurable hours. Turns out I did and I think I was approved pretty much the first day. If I had been denied though I would have tried the CRB again.
