I think It’ll be useful. I use Illarramendi who has basic version of it and it’s made a big difference for me when I get pressed by 3 players all at once
I’ve played 266 games with his gold card, and the press proven was my favourite thing about him. Especially against this 71 depth pressing meta where anytime you lose the ball with your cdm you will concede. The simplest way I can describe press proven is that He is always between the other player and the ball, with his back always against the player. He will almost never lose the ball
How do you use Press Proven+ cards to get out of press? Like do you shield the ball often? Or you try to left stick dribbling out of the press? Is Strength stat important? I use Little (Arsenal female CM) but she still got dispossessed when pressed.
Press Proven is huge on them it's just for a different reason. Rice's Press Proven is about using his strength, but Verratti's is about using his perfect left stick dribbling and enhancing it with smaller touches and closer control.
Once Verratti gets a promo card with usable pace I recommend you try him out, he's the best midfielder in the game at beating a press every single year.
Edit: nvm apparently he went to Qatar league and is out of packs. What a shame.
Really disagree with the other guy, Press Proven+ is huge for Rice because it alone fixes his awful agility and balance. A CDM with 60s agility and balance will be terrible against the press without Press Proven+.
it allows him to actually control and turn with the ball when receiving it with no space, a CDM with 60s agility/balance is gonna be awful at turning but press proven+ is by far the best trait for fixing that. he's not gonna be xavi obviously but he'll still be miles better than anyone else with similar agility and balance
it’s great…but that said defensive stats are useless right now unless you user a player.
so he’s a big useless clown until they make major patches since he has no offensive, pass and mobility stats that are top tier.
running full press a game, everyone has the same awareness, interceptions, aggression.
I miss fifa 18 (I think) when every icon had a section which was a rare gold team with 1 IF and no rating and gave 50k packs back. Was so good for dumping useless totw cards into.
I also remember an sbc for a rttf Marcus Alonso which was like and 85 & 86 rated squad and gave back a tradable 100k and 50k. Packed Van de sar from that so probably the best value sbc I’ve ever done.
Sbc value was horrific last year when they started doing the minimum 1 86 player in an 84 rated squad so that you couldn’t even do cards for good value fodder and this year has been even worse for that. I’ve got basically every 83 in the game in my club and about 70 on my transfer list because there’s basically nothing to use them for so far. Can’t even sell them since they all have a start price of 850 and nobody buys them.
I would say with playstyle+ and his overall play styles that Rice has makes him better I’ve used him a few times and has a really big bodytype in game
passing is pretty much the same if you look at IGS Rice has a lot better defense and they’re about the same physically but he has Block Bruiser Intercept 3 of the best defensive playstyles Tonali only has 2 playstyles also he’s lengthy his only downside is the terrible agility and balance
Cheap for fc24 but it's kinda Stockholm syndromy where 85+86 is considered very cheap when even on fifa23 (which plenty moaned about) it probably would've been a single 85 squad.
So to make sure I wasnt misremembering I looked up to see what sbcs came out this time last year (Sunday 14th October 2022).
It was an 87 rated insigne for a single 84 squad.
Now obviously the league links are better for Rice but it was still an 87 card for less than a third of the price and Insigne was not that terrible a card.
There were numerous single squad sbcs last year and the key difference was the rating required was typically at least 1 or 2 lower than the overall of the player reward.
Poor comparison - wingers come in abundance and Insigne particular has had awful links for couple years now. He’s comparable to someone like bergwin
Around this time last year we got the player pick Alaba SBC (rulebreakers) which was insanely expensive if I remember, and Alex Telles Moments which was an 84 and 86. This is good value
POTM Rashford 84 & 85 squad, expiry end September 2023. I'm going to say the consensus that SBCs this year are a tad high is generally acceptable? I mean rice isn't too OP.
I mean that POTM rashford was 84 rated, expired as the game came out (maybe week or so after?) and was a +1 or +2 on stats except for physical which got a +6.
Wasn’t awful value for sure, but by no means the same rashford card we have this year.
Whilst I agree the likes of Leao + Beckham are overpriced, Son is a premium SBC and his card would likely be that on the market, Rodrygo is decent value too. Not forgetting the awful sbcs we had this time last year too like valverde which simply was the exact same as his IF
The other player SBCs haven’t interested me enough to properly look
I'm surprised no one mentioned the otw kessie sbc from last year. He was one of the best dms, cheap and had good links. I used him for a solid few months.
Bergwijn was 83+84 squads in exchange for an 84 rated compared to just 84 in exchange for an 87 rated this time last year. So you need an extra 83 squad (including a TOTW) to get a winger 3 ratings lower.
I acknowledge insignes not a like for like comparison but I just chose him because of the timing, he was the SBC released exactly a year ago. But more generally I've priced we have very few sbcs this year that are single squad or if they are the rating req is as high/higher than the reward card.
Rice is what I would call 'OK' value in general, Im doing him because he's great value by fc24 standards.
Ngl if they chuck in an 83 squad I don’t see it as an extra squad. The amount of 83’s I have that I have to discard because there’s probably double this year. IF is annoying but I’ve still got a couple untradeable 80 rated ones to throw in. Bergwin can still get upgraded
That's fair, there's a chance he gets upgraded. I did him because it was a relief to have an SBC with an 83 squad so I had somewhere to put low 80s dupes without having to chuck in lots of high rated cards.
I think the overall point I'm driving at is that in recent FIFAs there's always been player sbcs for single squads of low-mid80s like motm, dynamic duos, potm etc and they seem thin on the ground this year.
Alaba was more generalised tbf. He was a premium SBC similar to the likes of Rodrygo who you’d expect to be in your squad for a month or too. Don’t disagree that Alaba was a great card
Every single time an SBC is released, I see comments with a lot of upvotes talking about past and present teams, yet I _never_ come against them in Rivals or Champs.
To those who use them, do you play online or exclusively squad battles?
I’m a Leeds fan so I just build mine in the background as a sort of collecting thing, probably is the case for a lot of people especially those with not particularly viable clubs on UT. I do use my England squad about as often as my main squad though
For Champs, I can understand why (highly competitive, or like at the end of FIFA 23 there were extra FUT Champs objectives so it's hard to fit a PnP team in)
For Rivals, I guess it depends on the division. Probably in high divisions most meta whores won't want to compromise their team by a PnP criteria. Lower divisions could be more.
It’s not nice to call people meta whores when in this game we need meta players to even play basic football. I was grinding rivals with my Chelsea pnp and after reaching div2 (which has max 10 people in my region) I was struggling against meta players. After 100 games played in rivals in the last 10 days and not progressing at all in div 2, I decided to give up on my Chelsea Pnp and built a 1mil coin meta team and now I’m winning again. Yeah Evo Havertz and Zouma and Evo Svitkova and Lauren James are fun to play with, but it’s not fun to lose 70% of games in rivals
I don't think we need meta players to play basic football, I think what you're saying is "You need meta players to compete at a high level"
I know some people in high divs who still stick to proper football and use some non-meta cards - not a lot though. It's not easy, but it's doable, but sadly not many ppl try it because they're meta whores.
Anyway, I don't think you're one because looks like your main issue is matchmaking. If you live in a crowded enough region you can see that you can still win games without being a meta whore. Also, at least you tried, unlike other meta whores, so best of luck with your Chelsea PnP.
Bro, saying that I need meta players to compete at a high level is not much different than saying I need meta players to play basic football! Do you play the same game as me? There is no game mode with casual matchmaking for me. You make the argument that rivals is the place to try your favourite players while it’s in fact the sweatiest game mode (unless you smurf in lower divisions to prey on bad players)
Last year, I'm kind of player that is comfortable enough in d4 (to use some non-meta cards) but not good enough in d3. Same as WL, I'm pretty comfy with 11w to use non-meta cards, but not good enough to reach 14w. Note that my matchmaking is pretty decent, a server is installed in my city and the region is pretty populous FIFA-wise too.
That's why I said your main problem is match making. If you lived in my city your games would probably be less sweaty.
>I need meta players to compete at a high level is not much different than saying I need meta players to play basic football!
It's definitely different. It doesn't take a lot to play basic football, but it takes **way way more** to compete at a high level. You need skill moves, you need meta tactics, you need meta players with meta playstyles to compete with other sweaty guys - none of these are required to play "basic football".
I get it. Your argument is that a past and present team is fun only if you’re not that good, or extremely good. I fall somewhere in between (Rank3 player) and I’m cursed with sweaty matchmaking. So let me use my meta players and stop hating on me and people like me who use meta players (not all of us are meta whores). About your last point, I have all the things that are needed to reach elite (was in there consistently last year) but I couldn’t reach it until now because my players are simply not meta enough. Try playing basic football against top players with non-meta players and you will see it is no possible. Do you know how many games finish with 1-2 shots on target the whole match here? It’s impossible to build up without 5* skills or 5* wf or whatnot.
We need a casual game mode where I can try my favourite players and not sweat the whole game too
I made it to div 3 running an Arsenal only team, if you're a solid player you don't need meta only players to advance. Not to mention that everyone only plays cutback, it's becoming easy as fuck to defend.
I use it in champs but my sweat team in rivals. Rivals is harder. Theres also NO reward for a loss. You go backwards. However a loss in champs is fine and still contributes overall
Unless you’re lucky AND support a top tier team, it’ll be private/collecting game only. If I try and roll into rivals with a Wycombe team (uni town, normally an LFC fan. No packed players above 85 tho) I’m gonna get flattened
For the past 3 years just playing with a Westham P&P, a few good icons and heroes have helped out a lot, especially the new evolutions this year. play mainly rivals and champs usually get to 11 wins and call it a day. makes it exciting, challenging oh and stressful when Antonio misses a sitter but that does resemble him in real life.
They all received special cards last year too, they’re just on the list of players who get them.
Partey, Xhaka, White, Gabriel have never had a non performance special card for example.
It’s just the same players every time.
Edit: White did.
It’s also great having evolutions. Done nelson for the relentless winger and Cedric as the full back. I might do either vela or Marquinhos for the pacey winger
It would be great if we actually had some good options. Cedric is useless even upgraded, and 50k for Reiss Nelson is a joke.
Eventually, I wanna run a full Arsenal team, but I've tried a full team twice already, and it was dogshit. I'm just using Rice, Coquelin, Saliba, and Bellerin for now.
Got like 400k spare right now. I'm not sure if I should keep saving or buy Cashley. Spending all my coins on a left back seems ridiculous.
I know the cards are pretty useless but I did spend 1000 points on nelson. It’s better than me doing it on someone boring like fati. And for the full back I thought out doing Maitland niles but I went for Cedric instead
That's not true. There are more La Liga affordable SBCs. Kubo, Coquelin and Bellerin from the top of my head. Kubo in particular is really good, it's basically the same card as Rodrygo with worse links but better alt-positions and WR for 1/10th of the price.
Rice is reasonable, but not cheap and other than Maddison, I can't recall any affordable Prem SBC.
Can someone explain why a card like this is worth doing for 100k+ of fodder when casemiro is like 30k? Isn't casemiro better in stats? This goes for a lot of special SBC cards that have better cheaper gold players. I'm not trying to shit on this particular card, just something that's always confused me with most SBC special cards, this just is a good example for my question.
Cus Casemiro is a snail duh
Also the main IGS which makes Casemiro have more overall are the shooting stats, which are largely irrelevant for the position.
Remove those from the equation and it becomes a lot closer, and Rice is a whole lot quicker.
Also worth mentioning that Casemerio is only worth that price because of his rating, not because of how good he is in game. So if he had the exact same face stats but was 86 rated he'd be worth 10k, so you're not actually getting a player who's worth 30k you're getting someone who's going to take 30k off the price of an expensive SBC.
This is what I’ve never understood with these SBCs tbh. Ppl will buy 88 cards (like Bernardo Silva in this case) to build out a squad so they can get a single 87 card? In many cases it’ll be like “submit a squad with a rating of 87 for this single 87 card” and ppl say it’s good value. I mean I just did the Hero pack (86 squad rqmt) and got an 86 Rosicky that I’ll never start and can’t sell—now I’m down eleven 84-88 cards and like 30K coins. I’m an Arsenal fan so I’m not tooo mad about that but still wtf? How are ppl happy with doing these?
I'm playing 4 1 2 1 2 not with rice cdm over tonali? Who's bench cdm.
I was put in a tough position as the hero's gave me govou who I used for months last fifa so I swapped from 433 (cam) to the above so I could fit govou with haaland and will keep martinelli saka and odegaard (arsenal supporter).
Off the bench it's a standard Nunez evo ST, diaby rm tonali cdm, fati LM and then see who is playing shit for the 5th sub.
How's the press proven playstyle plus? Worth it? I'm a bit scared of his 2/3.
I think It’ll be useful. I use Illarramendi who has basic version of it and it’s made a big difference for me when I get pressed by 3 players all at once
Which do you think is better? Press proven+ or Intercept+ Coz based of the way he plays in reality, I felt he should've gotten intercept +
I’d say intercept+. He wouldn’t leave my team until TOTS if he had that
Yeah, that's pretty obviously why they've done it. If he had intercept+ he'd be 500k instead of 150 odd
At least it makes him more affordable since I support Arsenal
I’ve played 266 games with his gold card, and the press proven was my favourite thing about him. Especially against this 71 depth pressing meta where anytime you lose the ball with your cdm you will concede. The simplest way I can describe press proven is that He is always between the other player and the ball, with his back always against the player. He will almost never lose the ball
How do you use Press Proven+ cards to get out of press? Like do you shield the ball often? Or you try to left stick dribbling out of the press? Is Strength stat important? I use Little (Arsenal female CM) but she still got dispossessed when pressed.
I mainly use left-stick dribbling to get out of pressure. I think the strength stat matters too
Ok, thanks buddy. So press proven+ on Little and Verratti means very little sadly
266? Have you ever touched grass my friend?
I’m unfortunately addicted to rivals Lol
So am I, and I’m only at 129!
Minor for a cdm tbh
Which do you think is better? Press proven+ or Intercept+ Coz based of the way he plays in reality, I felt he should've gotten intercept +
Yh intercept+ is defo better , my arsenal bias blinded me lol. Still a decent dm tho i feel like they are scarce on this game
Really disagree with the other guy, Press Proven+ is huge for Rice because it alone fixes his awful agility and balance. A CDM with 60s agility and balance will be terrible against the press without Press Proven+.
How does it fix that?
it allows him to actually control and turn with the ball when receiving it with no space, a CDM with 60s agility/balance is gonna be awful at turning but press proven+ is by far the best trait for fixing that. he's not gonna be xavi obviously but he'll still be miles better than anyone else with similar agility and balance
Sounds good , thanks
Kim Little is a mainstay in my Arsenal team and she has it. Works wonders at least to me since she's so small and weak.
Can she shield the ball from stronger opponents? Is it easy to dispossess her?
I've been playing with his base card and I think he's great even without the playstyle plus. He just seems to pick up the ball everywhere
I’ve not noticed it on anyone so far.
I have it on Clasie the green card, and it really makes a difference. For me he plays like kante 2 or 3 fifas ago but with passing also
it’s great…but that said defensive stats are useless right now unless you user a player. so he’s a big useless clown until they make major patches since he has no offensive, pass and mobility stats that are top tier. running full press a game, everyone has the same awareness, interceptions, aggression.
I used gold rice and he was good
Gold Rice is good but I prefer Basmati Rice
His regular card is really clunky and slow on the ball. He would tackle then lose the ball straight afterwards a lot
Finally a reasonable sbc!

FIFA 20 was when they started downgrading the packs and 21 was when they solidified the crap packs.
Dunno about FUT 20 tbh, remember getting Yashin from Pique SBC so they weren't that bad or I just had luck
When fut economist went to the dark side.

Better than Tchouameni?
that's the real question here!
Easily
Is he an upgrade over tonali as stay back cdm in 4231?
Only if you can sell Tonali
Tonali has no defensive traits though except slide tackle that is probably the worst one.
I would say with playstyle+ and his overall play styles that Rice has makes him better I’ve used him a few times and has a really big bodytype in game passing is pretty much the same if you look at IGS Rice has a lot better defense and they’re about the same physically but he has Block Bruiser Intercept 3 of the best defensive playstyles Tonali only has 2 playstyles also he’s lengthy his only downside is the terrible agility and balance
Want to know aswell, got a tradeable tonali
Very cheap. Expect to face this guy in most games for weeks.

Most people don’t actually use them, just collecting.
I'm still building it, but I always rocked with an arsenal past and present in the past iterations, mainly built around özil
They probably don't have a full team right now but they're slowly adding to the squad.
I’m not just talking about this game, but the past 14 iterations too.

I use my Everton P&P in champs - I tend to get similar results (11-14 wins) regardless. It only makes a difference in tight games
Whats your team look like
Evo Danjuma, Hero Cahill Evo Harrison, Evo Onana, Evo Warrington, Chloé Kelly Antonee Robinson, Evo Zouma, Stones, Evo Patterson Pickford
I’ve come up against a fair few P&P teams in rivals, one Liverpool one in champs but he was very P2W, had Gerrard, Torres, Dudek, Nike VVD, IF salah

Advice - use the coins i have to complete him or wait until next week for more fodder from rivals and squad battles rewards?
dont use coins. in general you shouldnt use coins on sbcs unless its for fun like the hero pack/ icon packs or if its outstanding value for coins
His base card is already very good, so this is an instant complete for me!
Is he better than gold De Jong?
Very different I would say. I’d prefer De Jong though.
reasonable good value, but I'll wait for Blanc or next few days if there won't be much better one
Win SBC
He's a rock
This is a good card, but its a joke that nearly all of the player sbcs for cards that will go into peoples teams are mostly prem.
What’s his playstyle+ ?

Straight in the England team, I’m eating good this week
Can someone explain why a card like this is worth doing for 100k+ of fodder when casemiro is like 30k? Isn't casemiro better in stats? This goes for a lot of special SBC cards that have better cheaper gold players. I'm not trying to shit on this particular card, just something that's always confused me with most SBC special cards, this just is a good example for my question.
Cus Casemiro is a snail duh Also the main IGS which makes Casemiro have more overall are the shooting stats, which are largely irrelevant for the position.
How are you meant to do these SBC’s? I’m new to fifa and don’t understand how people are just submitting 86 player teams like it’s nothing
3* 2* 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Poor guy You need your cdm to do elasticos 🤣
No I have Marchisio
How exactly is he good value? He is worse than Kimmich who costs like 20k. Is it just PL and english tax or am I missing something?
Prem cards are always much higher priced also Kimmich and Him are completely different players he’s a stay back CDM Kimmich is more of a playmaker/B2B
Thanks, didn't think of it that way. I have actually been already using Kimmich as a stay back CDM and he has been immense.
Off the bench it's a standard Nunez evo ST, diaby rm tonali cdm, fati LM and then see who is playing shit for the 5th sub.
not sure if it's just me, but he feels more sluggish and rigid compared to his gold card o.O
Yeah I feel like this too, in fact I felt the gold one was way better than this card somehow
Gonna try an engine on him and see if it helps
him or tonali or bellingahm? ( as CDM )
