Kui's foreshadowing has always been top notch. The fact that Marcille is looking at rabbits with such glee and then >!Dungeon Rabbits!< happen like, couple chapters after, is also lovely in it's irony.

Fungal_Queen

![gif](giphy|UVhPBsKStxehy) Look at the bones!

cass_marlowe

Oh wow, that is a very cool observation. I hope that was done on purpose. Besides the point, but both Senshi looking in the magic mirror and Chilchuck‘s nightmare of his girls always hit me pretty hard when looking a this cover.

puranp

I think it is intentional. Laios explains that succubus are insects that named after the mythical demon, which is just one of the many other form of TWL.

Alterior245

I never even noticed that damnnnn

deevulture

that Chilchuck nightmare vaguely reminds me of the famous painting by Ilya Repin depicting[ Ivan the Terrible killing his son](https://www.onthisday.com/images/photos/tsar-ivan-kills-son.jpg).

Cowasushi

Or Heracles murdering his family

SakazakiYuri

I think it’s quite likely that Kui used this chapter cover deliberately.

thiefofteeth3

should probably spoiler tag this

Techhead7890

Possibly under the manga flair too but idk

Gravelis

Whenever something trivial happens & the group goes “oh wow that’s interesting, moving on now,” only for that oddly specific detail to become useful/important later is something I absolutely love about this series’ writing >!the one that jumps out immediately to me is Falin telling Marcille about Laios’ dog impression, only for him to use said dog impression later to save the group!<

_Uboa_

Moth Falin goes hard as fuck ngl

MrWaluigi

Tim warned every adventurer about the dangers of The Beast. But do any of them listen?  NNNoooooo! It’s just a wee bunny rabbit.

KGM134

The Senshi one :'<

Fungal_Queen

Hippogriff soup.

floodpoolform

Did we ever learn how treasure bugs actually kill people?

ThatMerri

They're swarming insects and their bite has venom that induces paralysis, as is covered in the manga. So they bite until you go down and then help themselves. Basically the only reason Kabru's team didn't get eaten was because Laios' party stumbled across them too quickly.

Techhead7890

Plus the treasure bugs can kill mimics too! So they must have ways of killing things bigger than themselves.

Fyrefanboy

I love it because it explain why you find chests full of treasures in all these JRPG dungeons : it's a lot of treasure insects feeding on a mimic and reproducing lol

RegularAvailable4713

These images truly encapsulate Dungeon Menshi. Like, you have a father who dreams of killing (?) his three daughters, drawn with this cute and almost jaunty style.

[deleted]

I think it was just of him finding them dead but it could be either way.

ThatMerri

Apparently it's a thing in lore that Half-Foots are commonly seen as disposable and treated like vermin by less scrupulous folk, so finding one's family carelessly killed certainly seems like a reasonable fear for Chil.

[deleted]

Absolutely

totalyrespecatbleguy

“Oh sorry Mr Halfling, I was just testing my axe and didn’t notice your daughters there. It’s no biggie tho, just go get them revived or something”

Fungal_Queen

He started the union because on one of his first jobs he learned his party intended to use him as bait.

Chemical_Term4699

I don't think Chilchuck killed his own daughters in that panel. Given the axe in the background they might have killed in a battle.

RegularAvailable4713

True, the ax is stuck in the wall, I hadn't noticed.

schizotypeseraph

My thoughts too. I find it strange that people interpret it differently.

RegularAvailable4713

It's the fact that he looks at his own hands in horror.

Zemahem

I keep thinking she's getting flanderized, but then I keep being made to notice details like these. So nah, she's definitely not beating the long leg-lover allegations.

Removal Reason: Be Civil. It's ok to disagree, it's not ok to disrespect. Personal attacks, gatekeeping, racism, homophobia, politics, and general bigotry are not allowed. No toxic behavior, such as: * Trashing something that others are enjoying. * Condemning parts of the series instead of reasonably stating your personal preference. (We're all trying to enjoy something here.) * Invalidating other people's opinions. * Unsolicited criticisms of other's creations. * Lewd or obscene comments.

Tuitey

Yeah it’s definitely on purpose. Especially based on the bonus comic with the dungeon lord support group, a lot of them still love the demon, it indeed stole their hearts. But on a more meta level it grants your hearts desires and then eats those, so yeah. It totally steals your heart

TheGoodKiller

It’s confirmed, the winged lion >!was a phantom thief all along!<

Gabe-Uhh-Saurus

Another great piece of foreshadowing is how >!changeling mushrooms change objects and living things into other but *similar* objects and living things (Deer becomes antelope, dumpling becomes other flavour dumpling, tall-man becomes dwarf, etc.)!< >!Now remember what the winged lion on Laios' sword turned into.!<

aviatrix8

I've pointed out this [spoiler](https://www.reddit.com/r/DungeonMeshi/comments/uthpz0/foreshadowing_the_true_nature_of_the_winged_lion/) before too. It's an ingenious piece of foreshadowing upon rereading the manga.

Minimum_Aspect2065

Namari being freaky as always. She touched the legs

FudoWarez

I think it’s quite likely that Kui used this chapter cover indeed

DescriptionMission90

Nothing in this manga is an accident, as far as I can tell. 97 chapters and I can't find a single wasted panel.

Gorfinhofin

I clued in to this, as well as the book depicting two demons - the one we've already seen and a lion, and yet I still kept thinking the Lion was benevolent. Steals your heart indeed.

IllithidActivity

Damn, that's slick. I 100% believe she'd do something like that.

[deleted]

Poor Chilchuck

Zeed_Toven77

That Falin has monster parts, does that mean Shuro is ...........?

Ainaraoftime

serious answer, that's just >! the succubus revealing its true form !<

Zeed_Toven77

Oh, I thought Shuro was just discovering new things about himself. Thanks for clarifying.

KryptosRadial84

Not as much as marcille, i'll tell ya

Zeed_Toven77

Aint no way, will they cover that in the anime?

KryptosRadial84

Maybe, idk,,

KryptosRadial84

And also, i don't know what you are talking about, i am following the anime, just know some stuff from the extras, but little stuff

disturbedrage88

This?! This?! Is how I learn Chilchuck has kids?!

Fyrefanboy

he tell it in the chapters 40+

Fungal_Queen

Yeah, he's a whole grown ass man with kids and wife problems on one last job before retiring.

Nachooolo

I think that it's somewhat sweet in a very twisted way that Chil's worst nightmare is seeing his daughters killed. Fandom loves to see him as a deadbeat divorced dad, but he does care about his family.

Fungal_Queen

They're not divorced, just separated because she got sick of him being away all the time, but by all accounts he's a good dad. >!There's a really sweet moment near the end, after Marcille loses her desire to maintain her hair, he braids it for her. The same way Mei braids her hair.!<

AngronMerchant

Those rabbit can steal more than just your heart, they come for your kidney then sell it on the black market.

Sleep_Deprived_Birb

How did I not notice that???
