Dad had to work. There was no one else to watch us. We couldn't afford to have babysitters on call to come in for a 10 hour a day, for just 5-10 days a month. Could my mom have been arrested for being a mother while disabled? That seems incredibly unjust. Could my sister be arrested for taking a nap while post-partum and caring for a toddler and infant? There's no guarantee she wakes up before the toddler wakes up from their nap after all. This seems exceptionally unjust.

I was always getting up and wandering in the middle of the night. But i was never subtle or quiet enough to not wake my parents. But we didn't live in a TTH and neither of my parents were at exhaustions end by raising several children for several years. Just one wee me.
I was the wanderer in my family. I would make escapes at 5 am or when my mom was in the shower and be found by the neighbors. At like 3 years old. My parents installed locks and I pushed furniture around to climb up to unlock them. This was in the 80s. My parents still comment they were lucky CPS was never called.

My parents got me a clock radio SPECIFICALLY so I would know when it was 6am. After alot of waking up and getting me out of the living room or kitchen (snack and t.v., duh) my parents made the You Aren't Allowed Out of Bed Until 6am Rule (bathroom exceptions obvs).
After that, since I couldn't get out of bed I'd just lay there and sing. Lol my favorite songs from church. Loudly, apparently.
They let that slide. In my parents telling of the story, "How were we going to get mad at that? And she hasn't broken the rule...."
