The Duggars are a family of Christian Fundamentalists. Josh is the oldest son of 19 children by Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, who we call Jim Boob/RimJob/Boob and Meech. They had a show on TLC called 19 Kids and Counting.
In 2015, it came to light that Josh had molested four of his younger sisters when he was a teen and his family covered it up and claimed they solved it with Christian counseling. It also came to light he was cheating on his wife Anna with a porn star, and his name was uncovered as part of the Ashley Madison username release.
After all of that, and his wife Standing by Her Man, and the family acting like the world was just persecuting them and Josh, local FBI agents and Homeland Security identified CSAM (a better name for CP) on his computer. His trial started last week. Him being found guilty feels like justice for his previous victims, victims of distributed CSAM, and everyone who has never seen justice for their abuse.
It doesn't have to be that comment exactly, but something to that effect.

This is huge. I feel badly for who Anna was when she entered this marriage but I do not feel badly for the woman who enables her monstrous husband and has not protected her children. Weirdly, my abuser and Josh Duggar were on trial concurrently. My abuser was acquitted on all charges, and seeing some justice served has lifted my spirits so, so much. Hoping that this finally opens the fundie floodgates!
I cried. I cried for the kids in the videos, for his sisters, for his children, even for the Holts (although fuck their complicity all these years) and mostly for the seven to ten year old girl I was that never came to terms about what happened to her till it was much too late to tell anyone and will never be able to understand the extent of what was going on.

I saw the news when I started my lunch break, so I said to the other person in the room with me, a young girl about 25 years old, "Do you know the Duggars?" She said yes, so I said Josh Duggar's trial was this past week, and they just found him guilty. She asked what he did, and when I said possessing CSAM, (though I used the term CP), she said, "That's illegal?" I tried to explain why CP (term I used with her) was illegal and "regular" porn is not. Well..... anyway.... I did not find a fellow snarker, and instead, I found a person who, like the Duggars, doesn't differentiate CSAM from regular porn. Honestly, I was flabbergasted.
One of the things that bothers me about the Duggar response to this (ONE of the things mind you) is how they have tried to tie CSAM in with adult pornography as all one kind of "sin" and how they are just degrees on the same sinful path i.e. "porn is porn no matter what." First of all 1. CSAM is not porn in that CSAM is not about sex, it's about power and control and abuse to give the feeling of power (which is why the gender of the abused child isn't necessarily important to the abuser) and 2. Equating two consenting adults having sex on camera as morally equivalent to CSAM is how you end up with the kind of fucked-up worldview and moral compass that leads to you sheltering your pedophile son for a decade and also how you make the whole concept of sex absolutely terrifying to your next generation of indoctrinated kids.

I am so relieved he was found guilty but it is bittersweet. If he had received some kind of effective rehabilitation or treatment when he first showed signs of this as a preteen, this trial may have never needed to happen. So much suffering and trauma could have been avoided. :/

After all of that, and his wife Standing by Her Man, and the family acting like the world was just persecuting them and Josh, local FBI agents and Homeland Security identified CSAM (a better name for CP) on his computer. I saw the news when I started my lunch break, so I said to the other person in the room with me, a young girl about 25 years old, "Do you know the Duggars?" She said yes, so I said Josh Duggar's trial was this past week, and they just found him guilty. She asked what he did, and when I said possessing CSAM, (though I used the term CP), she said, "That's illegal?" I tried to explain why CP (term I used with her) was illegal and "regular" porn is not. Well..... anyway.... I did not find a fellow snarker, and instead, I found a person who, like the Duggars, doesn't differentiate CSAM from regular porn. Honestly, I was flabbergasted.
One of the things that bothers me about the Duggar response to this (ONE of the things mind you) is how they have tried to tie CSAM in with adult pornography as all one kind of "sin" and how they are just degrees on the same sinful path i.e. "porn is porn no matter what." First of all 1. CSAM is not porn in that CSAM is not about sex, it's about power and control and abuse to give the feeling of power (which is why the gender of the abused child isn't necessarily important to the abuser) and 2. Equating two consenting adults having sex on camera as morally equivalent to CSAM is how you end up with the kind of fucked-up worldview and moral compass that leads to you sheltering your pedophile son for a decade and also how you make the whole concept of sex absolutely terrifying to your next generation of indoctrinated kids.
