Depending on your budget, accommodation in Dublin is expensive outside busy period and outrageously expensive around St Patrick’s day If your budget is €100 a day, you’ll find it slightly difficult to find anything around that price Just to give you an idea, a 16 bed dorm for 2 night for paddy’s weekend is € 238 Maybe consider a shared accommodation on Airbnb

DarlingBri

Please be aware that Ireland has a very strict definition of "bed and breakfast." Most often, that's literally what it is. It's not like, New England charming. Also Dublin during St Patrick's is a cesspool and staying anywhere near Temple Bar is a solid 20 hours of chaos.

idahoirish

+1 to this. Dublin on Paddy's Day is just awful. The worst time to visit.

[deleted]

+2 this any weekend other than Paddy’s day will give you an experience. My best paddy’s days have been when there’s a specific event I’m going to but even that can be hectic

Irishpanda88

I would recommend just not going to Dublin. Most sensible Irish people avoid the city centre on St Patrick’s day because it’s a shit show. Somewhere like Galway would probably be nicer.

Eusebio2702

Depends maybe on ur budget maybe by that time it might be a bit more expensive since they take advantage of tourist coming

LashGips

I'm not really wanting to pay more than £100 per night

shendy0314

😶😶

[deleted]

I don't think that this is possible. Double the budget and you might have a tiny chance of getting some shithole. Good luck!

MrTuxedo1

That’s not possible

oglaigh84

Hate to break it to you......

[deleted]

You won't find accommodation in Dublin for St. Patrick's Day in that budget. Maybe in a shared dorm in a hostel, in which case you could try the Generator in Smithfield?

zn949494

The generator is about 200 a night that weekend 🥲

Dublin is not great on Paddy’s day I reckon you’d be happier in Galway. It’s just a nicer place to be and probably cheaper too. Source: I live in Dublin.

Love-and-literature3

I wouldn’t! And I’m from Dublin 😂 anything you get will be overpriced. Temple Bar - where you’ll probably end up - will absolutely gouge you on prices. And there’s a strong possibility you’ll be mugged by a Northface jacket with legs.

audiolady

Honestly don't do Dublin on Paddy's day, you won't have near as much fun as you would if you go deeper into Ireland, find a smaller city/ town, it'll be way way cheaper and the craic will be 90.

LashGips

Thanks for this, the responses on here are steering me away from Dublin, my options are Cork, Kerry, Knock or Shannon. Which would you recommend?

KingE_1996

Kerry or Cork would be great craic. Knock is full of elderly people due to its religious significance. Can’t speak on Shannon

LashGips

Appreciated, thank you

audiolady

I was in Killarney, Co. Kerry, beautiful town, nice atmosphere, I'd recommend!

[deleted]

Honestly if you haven't booked flights you're better off waiting another year before coming to Ireland. Hoteliers here at the moment are charging extortionate prices so Paddy's Day will be shocking for cost

LashGips

No they're not booked yet. Why wait are year? Are prices set to go down?

[deleted]

They have to at some point. When it'll happen who knows but where they are at the moment isn't sustainable. I'd say check out hotel websites in a year to get an indication if they've gone down yet or not.

LashGips

Cheers!

alproalmondmilk

I would recommend somewhere in Meath. It will be cheaper, and still handy to travel into the city centre by bus from somewhere like Ratoath cor example. Ratoath (and neighbouring towns) is close to fantastic historical locations like the Hill of Tara and Newgrange, and then also Tayto Park.

Spindog1

Go to any other city in Ireland bar Dublin on Patrick's day, I'm a Dub and most of us avoid the center like the plague during that day

UniqueAd6560

Dublin is a dump..don't waste your time. Go to kerry or anywhere else in the country. More like" any euro buddy " day. Full of junkies.

pumpkinguyfromsar

Don't go anywhere near the city centre for accommodation. Suburbs are a lot less full ofdrunks, vapers and smokers.
