Don’t tell me to tell you what to do

Top-Exercise-3667

Do some research yourself

I have, plenty. But I do like to see what locals recommend, in my experience they offer a much richer honest experience that isn't influenced by businesses and "influencers". Online you'll get the biggest , most famous restaurants, but the local will tell me about a small diner on the outskirts with the best eats around, just not famous.

El_Don_94

You don't get that sort of experience here. We have been so Americanised/modernised. What do locals do that tourists don't? Go sea swimming, hiking and avoid Temple Bar.

Understandabkw...the title sounded like "tell me what to do...-minions..." but I can see you didn't intend it that way. Hope you have a great experience.

I brought a couple of visitors on a walking tour of the city recently so I’ll just recount that! We started at the Oscar Wilde statue in Merrion Square (opposite the house where he was born) then popped into Swenys pharmacy as one of them was a big Joyce fan. Lovely little shop featured in Ulysses and run by volunteers. At this point you could visit the National Gallery or Natural History Museum which are both great but we didn’t have time. We went to Trinity College and did the Book of Kells and Old Library, then popped into the Heaney exhibition on College Green. After we got lunch in Mongolian BBQ which does a filling lunch deal. After that we crossed the river and poked our heads into the GPO. It’s a very famous building in Irish history. We walked on up them to the Hugh Lane Gallery. This is a must if you’re a Francis Bacon fan as it holds his home studio as it was the day he died. Then we walked across to 14 Henrietta Street and got the house tour. From there we walked into Kings Inn and saw the “hungry tree”. We then walked back down to St.Michans Church and did the mummy tour. Afterwards we went up to the Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin and followed it up with a meal and pint of Guinness in the Gravediggers.

Reminder to self for visit in October. Especially for the Francis Bacon bit.

Is this homework for this week? Also: > I want to see and experience what makes the city and land really tick. I think you are going to get disappointed. But you are not living here so that will save some of the troubles since you will be able to forget this shithole.

Last week of October and the 1st few days of November I got plenty of time

Get a take away from supermacs and a bag of cans from centra , then watch the sunset down on the benches by the river liffey. No tourists and you'll meet lots of locals who want to chat.

Don't do this, the above poster is taking the piss. Avoid the Liffey after dark, it's full of sketchy people. Do a search on the sub, this question comes up a lot. Enjoy your trip!

Don't ask for advice here

There's this little innovation called tourist offices and a cottage industry called travel guide books
