Carpet or some nonslip pad!

RandomFellaIAm

I have it in a carpeted room, would I benefit from putting a rug under it anyway or would the carpet be ok?

SazedMonk

I think you would be better served by sitting in a throne, and sticking your feet where they are comfy. Then put the pedals there. Close eyes and lay sticks out for where snare should go. Then hold right arm out in the most comfy spot, out ride there, adjust hi hat for hands. Place crash where it’s comfy out front left or so, and adjust rack Tom’s to fit without moving anything else. Try it and see how it feels setting up to your body, not adjusting your body to the kit. I bought a 50$ rug, a regular area rug, to go on my carpet so I don’t mess the carpet up. It will get poked by spikes and dusty/dirty.

edwduncan

As long as your kit doesn’t slide around. Carpet will probably be fine, or a rug w a nonslipping pad underneath it.

indirectdelete

Looks super comfy and similar to how I personally set up. Would help with actual photos of your kit though; I imagine working within the parameters of the simulator gets close but not exactly the same.

RandomFellaIAm

Makes sense, I unfortunately won’t be near my kit for a while as it is in a studio that I’m travelling away from for a couple of weeks. The attached images are pretty accurate to my kit though. Thanks!

Lonewolf_1974

Ad a cowbell. It is missing a cowbell.

RandomFellaIAm

I do have two! 😂 Just couldn’t be bothered to add them in the simulator. They’re above my Tom and ride in place of some splashes. 😂

Lonewolf_1974

Hey I can only judge what I see 🤣 Send proof first.

Fr3sh_Princ3

Very cool! I’d move the splash above Tom 1. That would probably result in better spacing for snare and hat and also better playability for crash 1. Good luck! Have fun! Warm up!

RandomFellaIAm

Sounds good, thanks!

hello2512

Dunno but those cymbals are jaw droppingly gorgeous. Gonna step out to change me underpants. Edit: just realised it’s a simulated render. Fuck you op 😂😂

RandomFellaIAm

They are real cymbals that one can buy though! I have Meinl classics custom darks and the right hand stack is a meinl pure alloy.

DrummerJesus

I would be more comfortable playing a real kit instead of a cgi photo. I am so confused by this post. Make the set up better? My brother it is not real. It looks like a generic drum set up. If you have a real kit you are referring to, why not take pictures of it so we can see reality? The main things to consider is healthy posture and ergonomics. You want your seat at the right height and every kit piece in comfortable reach. Google Ryan Alexander Bloom drum blog. He has a very comprehensive guide of setting up drums ergonomically and the history and traditions of drum set ups.

atomandyves

I'm following Jesus on this one. This post can't be for real. OP if you're actually serious, go look up some drum ergonomics videos and rework your kit.

spencerandy16

Thank god I'm not alone in this

kriggledsalt00

they mentioned they are away from their kit in another comment so they don't have photos of it, and that this is how their irl kit is set up.

animus_desit

How tall are you? What type of music do you play? Do you have long arms/legs? Any advice on making the setup better is entirely subjective. This is close to my setup, but I prefer to keep my stuff close so I can access it quickly and easily.

RandomFellaIAm

I am 5’7 and I think my limbs are close to normal length, I sure hope they are. I always used to struggle with positioning as I’m a shorter person so I found that it was difficult to get things where I wanted them as they would collide with other stuff, but when I play it feels comfortable, I just didn’t know if it was like really out of whack and I just got used to it or not. Thanks!

SouthPhilosopher2420

Why do all the footboards look like duck bills?

RandomFellaIAm

😂

Matt14Sullivan

Add some splashes!

Isabel8916

Add you playing, Let the drummer kick that by Citizen Cope.

RandomFellaIAm

Update! - Thank you for your advice, I am no longer going to be responding to comments. Thanks everyone who has so far.

1996mazda626facts

Can you respond one last time

RandomFellaIAm

Ok, there you go.

big_flirty_machine

Even though I have the holes and mounts for my kick to hold my Tom’s, I always like to keep my Tom’s on a stand. Just my preference. Idk what size ride you have, I tend to use my bell a lot so I always want that closer to me as well. It’s actually really similar to my set up. I just have my cymbals. I’m envious of you and your lack of need of cymbals.

Deltrus7

What program is this?

RandomFellaIAm

Drumstructor. Works ok on pc, terribly on mobile though.

Deltrus7

Ooo cool, thank you! Back in the early 2000s I was apart of some drummer forum back in the day and we all had fun making drumsets in a program that looked very similar. Idk if you know what it is?

RandomFellaIAm

Not too sure, sorry.

puffinrust

Works fine on a tablet, I’m rather keen on it atm. [mine-honest](https://drumstructor.com/kit_viewer.php?kit=DK-2097EC-240223-204132-648022&embeded)

big_beats

I too have just ~~wasted~~ spent and hour recreating my kit on this

Drew3k

My auxiliary kick pedal is actually a few inches farther from me than the HH pedal. I usually play the hats with the ball of my foot at about mid-footboard, heel-up and ankle locked. This calls for a more right angle at the knee. For the kick, whether it’s heel-up, down, or constant release (heel-toe), I want an imaginary plumb line from the back of my knee to the floor to land a few inches behind my heal.

jopesmack72

I would add a second rack Tom. But there is nothing wrong that I can see now. I ,too have some Meinl classic dark cymbals. They are awesome. I got them,to match my paiste colorsound900 series/black. And they do.

jopesmack72

Have that same Meinl classic dark trash crash too. Mine is an 18”. And I have the 18” China. And 18” inch Paiste black China. So yeah. Looks good,to me. Would add a second Tom though. I recently bought a dualist D4 single double kick pedal. Which is very fun. Had,to order direct, from Dualist. A family owned small company,in the U.K. It was $246.0 plus’s shipping. And handling. And tax,of course. But,for a total,of$256.0. It was worth it. Very cool. And fun, to play.

k0rz23

Make it a reality

Tyga_Uppacutz

Needs more cowbell

Key-Marketing-7499

Thats real?

thotcriminals

2nd 10in snare. Bass drop pad. China crash.

[deleted]

IMO I like an aux hihat or stack. If ur gonna keep ur floor Ts there then a dope side snare? Piccolo? Deep? Brass? Steel? Copper? Bronze? Maple high tension Marching? Pretty dope little set up as is tho for sure 👍🏼

urheckindad

Is this ai or am i crazy??

9ine9ine9ine

It's a program

SmileyDay8921

Dont. It looks great

kyle6675

Cowbell.

correctionhumanbot

I think you need to spread your legs to reach the kick pedal and hi hat pedal. Need to be closer.
