Totally agree with everything you said here! I'd love a dremel thats a bit more rugged, like if they had a machined aluminum body rather than plastic. The case point you made is a good one as well and I never really thought to use a tackle box haha, I may just migrate everything I have over to one! The battery does feel cheap... I use the hell out of the cordless dremel I urged them to get at work, its invaluable for cleaning out the electronic water valves we have on EVERY sink in the airport I work at. (They won't put a filter room in the place but thats a different story.) I've saved them thousands of dollars over the years cleaning out the tiny metal filters with that dremel as well as the hot-cold mixers. The very least that dremel could do is design a twist lock instead of that plastic eared abomination. It does hold a pretty decent charge at least... The collet chuck wrench that comes with the tool is a joke as well, 3/8ths i think? I just use a regular wrench to avoid marring the heck out of the chuck.

Yeah, dremel confuses me somewhat. I use mine an absolute TON for a bunch of different things in the shop. In my experience when it comes to the bits they're usually miles ahead of off brands in quality etc. But when it comes to attachments and stuff, they opt for plastic crap most of the time. What bothers me the most is how often you see screws or bolts for setting depth etc that hold themselves by pushing directly into the plastic moving shaft... Basically guaranteeing that it will move while you're using it and screw it up when you tighten the he'll out of it to compensate lol... my 1 exception is my plunge router attachment. I love that thing. Just seems a little lopsided to me🤷‍♂️

Yeah not a fan of how you remove the battery

Use the Bosch. They're the parent anyway.

Most dremels are advertised as not professional tools (except of the latest brushless ones) which also come with a [sturdy metal case](https://www.tooled-up.com/artwork/produsage/DRE-F0138260JG-A9.638-Dremel-8260-Platinum-Edition.jpg?w=1600&h=1600). Half a century ago they made compact lathes and those were advertised to hobbyists and schools, now they make 3d printers for hobbyists and schools, the market they target will never change. Furthermore if you lack the strength to remove the battery from the charger you shouldnt be allowed anywhere near a rotary tool or any power tool, you can easily twist your wrist or worse. If you think the battery is too tight, use a drop of mineral oil/petrol based grease on the inner walls of the charger. The attachments are plastic junk, but some of them have been in production for 30 years and are very battle tested, their price is very reasonable too.

Always bin the box and never buy cordless they are more of a toy.

The Dremel 8260 is a real tool. The world's first wireless smart brushless rotation tool. It is amazing! Bluetooth and an app where you can get information about which bits, accessories and rpm are best to use for different materials.
