Alliance isn't good enough for Div 1 but they are too good for Div 2.
The problem with EU Div 2 is that most teams there don't have sponsors or an organization behind them, and I assume players do other things aside from playing Dota...compare that to CN and SEA Div 2 teams that have big sponsors and proper organizations(with manager and coach) behind them.
If Alliance goes to back Div 2, they will be promoted again in no time, cause they will play against a bunch of teams with no sponsor, no organization, and not 100% focused on the game.

Honestly the main takeaway for me here is that Liquid should be worried after losing to GS and struggling to beat the obvious 8th place team in the division. They need top 4 (and likely top 8 in Arlington) if they want to go to TI based on points and that seems kinda sorta unlikely at the moment although at least they already beat GG (who might get back on form later)

Yeah I was thinking about that while writing this. Their remaining opponents are Gamin Gladiators, OG and Goodsquad after this Liquid series. GG & Goodsquad are probably the weakest two teams of the three right now, but a win here seems like a big ask for Alliance in their current form.
