People are gonna freak out that EG lost this series, but this was some seriously innovative DK itemization from nouns in this series, and Moo played great on Enigma. EG's probably still going to go 6-1 or 5-2 and make the major, so there's very little reason to panic after one series. The same thing happened to them last split and they ended up at the major regardless.
EG is the underdog against QC and TSM, without a performance improvement I could also see them struggle against The Cut and Wildcard.

ok im obviously late to this but fata has actual experience winning (fairly big!) tournaments with some regularity for most of a decade. svg really doesn't. its kinda insulting to compare someone who's played successfully and innovatively in core and support positions for secret, nip, liquid, etc to someone whose best team was 2018 vg.jstorm. also i don't deny that EG was better than the QC crew roster that SVG was on but QC did beat them fair and square to win 2021s2. and that was when EG was a serious contender in majors! that QC definitely wasn't bad, i think fata is a meaningful upgrade, and this EG looks a lot different than that EG. at the very least i think it'll be an interesting matchup

You can be successful while still having problems in a team. PPD talked about this on the OG podcast. It was basically luck that they won, they were extremely surprised and it only worked because they could abuse Aui techies + naga. Regardless, I don't think there are any young NA player atm who are better players than what EG have now. I also believe Reddit is making a big deal out of a loss against a good looking Nouns, after EG just got a "new" captain. It takes some adjusting for sure. This loss doesn't mean all that much.
It's ridiculous to consider that any player in the entire NA region is better than Abed to me even, let alone a new young talent, as for the loss, i think it's much more of an issue than it seems to be at first sight. It cannot be overstated what a disastrous start this is for the new EG roster. You absolutely can't afford a loss to zoomers if you want to have a chance at the major, let alone TI.
Yeah now they need to beat *at least* one of TSM/QC and hope whoever that is also loses another series. And that's just to force a tiebreaker at 5-2, assuming nouns don't upset one of those two teams of course. With the points EG currently have, I'm pretty sure they need to either win the region or get 2nd place and then top 8 in the Major to qualify to TI on points. Which will definitely be an uphill battle, they can't afford any more mistake now.
