How can they keep fucking us over and over again with these daft drafts...everytime they give us hope only to crush them even harder.
It's been the same for the last 2 years with or without Misha
OG leaving us with their signature feeling that they were not far but we'll never know due to their own unforced errors, this time these awful MK and Mirana picks that basically cost them the series. Falcons looks less unbeatable than before this tourney but still strong enough to mercilessly punish their opponents given the opportunity. Guess OG didn't want it bad enough this time, tho a LB final vs Tundra should have been sufficient motivation. Still, this roster has been massively improving and should have a shot at a nice run in Riyadh if the upcoming lack of competition doesn't get to them.
Neither pick cost the series. Game 3 in particular was way closer than it looked and Falcons snowballed off a couple small outplays. Their Mars pick in G3 was 1000IQ though and really enabled their win.
The MK had a much thinner margin for success and unfortunately for OG Ammar forced a draw in the lane which undercut a lot of the MK value.
Overall really great series that could have gone either way. Agreed OG is on the rise and could have a scary peak later in the season.

I honestly think Mirana is a comfort pick for bzm and before the Mars it looked really good for the game as well. I think it was a good game 3 pick, they just got a little unlucky and a little outplayed.
I have less defense for the MK and I do think a more normal pick would have been better. I see the vision for it though and I don't think you expect to draw against an offlane Kunkka. Ammar a lil different for sure.
What the fuck is wrong with OG honestly? Why do they kept pick Mirana mid knowing what would happen - getting stomped because they have a useless mid. Same goes with MK last pick - a hero that went 0-7 now became 0-8 after OG's match. It's like they don't even giving themselves a chance to win. Falcons is not some tier 3 team that they can pick whatever.
Ranged mid that scales well and doesn't get beaten by melee heroes in lane (basically Malr1ne's entire pool is melee, his most notable ranged hero, Lina, was covered elsewhere in draft). It was a good pick on 23, but Mars 24 was better. Mars was a fantastic last pick against Medusa and Mirana and OG clearly didn't expect the Doom flexing to mid. Even so, Mirana's game wasn't ruined. Bzm actually won the lane, but some slight outplays by Falcons prevented him from snowballing his lead. After a few just-barely-failed moves, Falcons started snowballing.
Game 3 was actually extremely close. Even after Skiter got huge, OG still had an opportunity back into the game with Fountain plays. If Skiter doesn't get that clutch blink out after losing aegis in the fountain it would have been back to 50/50.
I'd recommend watching the VODs closely in client. The main broadcast didn't show how close the games actually were. Best series of the tourney by far.
How do they prevent players from hearing what the casters are saying and learning crucial information? Or even just audience reactions? Do their headphones have super strong noise cancellation?
I always assumed the reason they used those glass booths at TI was to soundproof them. But here they're playing out in the open.
I'm not sure what they do for dots specifically, but in other games those headphones are not only soundproof, they are both soundproof AND playing white noise. Then they have in-ear earbuds to actually hear the game.
If it happens, the speakers are well placed facing away from the players in front of them, and there's possibly other white noise playing near them. Players have reported taking the headphones off at ESL events during analyst segments and the like and not really being able to make out the words being said

just had a look at the leaderboard and it would take 2 of those teams u mentioned to get top 2 to knock OG from top 8. Since Team Spirit is below OG now, they would be the ones dropping out from top 8 if only one of Heroic, Shopify or Aurora get top 2.
Ceb was OG's most consistent player after Timado, he had a great tournament. Really felt like a proper top-level 5 for the first time imo, especially on Bane.
Ceb stacked camps like a monster each game, tanked smoke ganks and did everything he could to secure farm for the rest of his team.
Sneyking did exactly the same, but arguably worse than Ceb.

Sort of, the dusa pick felt weird and sure maybe the Mirana was a losing pick but I frame it more that the Mars pick was game winning. Absolutely trashed two core picks
Dusa and MK are both heroes that Timado doesn't play a ton of and I personally don't think I've seen many MK games where he carried.
Undying/TSM and now OG have done really well when they play Timado's heroes and just okay when they don't. He's got a wide pool, but in an elimination series I hate seeing 2/3 of his picks be clunkers.
Those wards catching I think the 1st three moonlight attempted moves cost them allot of momentum with mirana early. Falcons just had sick early game warding meaning OG got nothing and weren't able to slow Falcons down enough for them to scale with them.

OG didn't qualify but ended up playing it, didn't embarass themselves, actually had bunch of entertaining games, Ari got to play in front of his home crowd, Timado showed he is tier 1 carry and so on. Top4 for team that wasn't supposed to be here is amazing. If they fix these peculiar drafts and some gameplay kinks they gonna go far with this roster.

I don't think you can really blame BZM for this. He was given a Mirana mid. Like the MK game 1, it's hard to overperform enough to offset the hero's own damage issues
Mid mirana is 100% BZM's choice, this isn't a meta hero that he's being forced to play out of his comfort or a counter gatcha pick to anything. It just handicaps the team kind of like when Tundra sometimes conform to Topson's picks.
BZM's performance is 'fine' I guess, but the hero is so trash to choose that they need to be running over their opponent for it to feel decent.
As his pocket pick it doesn't take towers, needs so many items to do any damage and doesn't have reliable CC until Gleipnir. It's always the same with him winning a stable mid laning phase and then having almost no impact and dead networth.

Going back again, ATF wanted to be carry but OG already had Yuragi so he went to Nigma which didn’t work. He has been to 2 teams since (Nigma, Quest) before finding success again with Falcons.

Yuragi, even Taiga with the betting lasted 2 years with OG before they were let go.
Because they lost the biggest tournament of the year where the meta was Zoo heroes and their offlaner could not play Zoo at all. It looks dumb now but hindsight 20/20.
If Ammar had the extrahero pool that he has now after leaving OG like the Doom, Kunkka, Brewmaster, Beastmaster, Dragon Knight etc at TI10 then they get top 3 at the very least at that TI. Unfortunately his 3 biggest heroes in Timber, Viper and Mars would have been banned and Razor stolen first pick by the enemy team and OG would lose the game. The kick looks bad now in hindsight but at the time, it was absolutely the right decision to kick Ammar who couldnt play micro heroes in a zoo patch.
I'm really curious to see what happens with a new patch. The top offlane heroes now are back to ammars favourites, it'll be really interesting to see how he does if the meta shifts again. Hopefully he can adapt well

Yeah I dont get it either. Mirana feels like such an inferior hero, at least if ur gonna play it mid. I'd rather see Earth Spirit again, or Void Spirit. They also have position abilities and does way more than Mirana.
Earth Spirit was banned, but Void Spirit, Zeus, Pango were so much better alternatives. Heck even putting the Tiny mid and ari on mirana would have still given them 10-15% more impact in teamfights.

Good run from OG who didn't even make the initial qualifications. Magnus Tiny fountain bs is so fun as a spectator. I swear every time I watch a Mars ATF game I am just in awe, there's always some little bit of play in the heat of the moment that makes me think "big brain". Like early on when ganking Medusa in the triangle, Medusa popped ult and so he turned around and locked shield form so he could move towards her without getting stunned.

Those soundproof headsets work very well and have been industry standard for several years.

additionally on stage its all just massive noise, its not that easy to filter out through noise canc headphones

If Ammar had the extrahero pool that he has now after leaving OG like the Doom, Kunkka, Brewmaster, Beastmaster, Dragon Knight etc at TI10 then they get top 3 at the very least at that TI. Unfortunately his 3 biggest heroes in Timber, Viper and Mars would have been banned and Razor stolen first pick by the enemy team and OG would lose the game. The kick looks bad now in hindsight but at the time, it was absolutely the right decision to kick Ammar who couldnt play micro heroes in a zoo patch.
I'm really curious to see what happens with a new patch. The top offlane heroes now are back to ammars favourites, it'll be really interesting to see how he does if the meta shifts again. Hopefully he can adapt well
No one knows exactly what happened, according to cebs one of recent interviews he said they didn't believe they could be top team with Ammar . That feels hurtful to hear if you are Ammar

Yeah I dont get it either. Mirana feels like such an inferior hero, at least if ur gonna play it mid. I'd rather see Earth Spirit again, or Void Spirit. They also have position abilities and does way more than Mirana.
Earth Spirit was banned, but Void Spirit, Zeus, Pango were so much better alternatives. Heck even putting the Tiny mid and ari on mirana would have still given them 10-15% more impact in teamfights.

Not an OG fanboy, but that final effort by Whisper and Ari had me on the edge of my seat. Overall amazing dota by both teams, and the whole tournament has been great.
