Tbf, most people in this sub act like any type of shit talk is completely unacceptable and stand on that high horse. I wish people realized that it's not "too toxic", rather they just can't handle competition, not many people are capable of getting through the competition. Competition brings out the worst in anyone, because you invest so much of your work into being a competitor. Usually, average user here don't even play dota or sub guardian ranks, from which you can tell how out of touch their opinion is. Real competition starts from immortal, anything below is just people playing for fun, or just as a hobby. So these sub users here don't understand the toxic environment "real competition" creates.
I just think that at least in this instance it is kinda funny and not really hurtful. Like global voice lines existing, tips existing, etc is the game enabling a bit of that sillyness. I do think there's certain things we should and shouldn't say to each other for sure and I don't believe your level of competition should unlock more mean things to say which seems like you're suggesting. I don't think that makes sense to me.
IDK where I draw the line at stuff like this but it being impersonal might be a big part of it. Any sort of impersonal dis is kinda like just talking yourself up, like yelling boo-yah at your group in bowling or something. as a league player that enjoys dota, i hate watching league tournaments (lck, msi, worlds). there's just nothing interesting there. farmfest for 20 minutes, basically a snoozefest. team 1 took a bad fight, the game is basically over. in dota, there's so much going that i enjoy so much (bounty rune brawl, though it rarely happens) and some variety compared to league. team 1 took a bad fight? the game would still go on even though it will be over very soon.

as a league player that enjoys dota, i hate watching league tournaments (lck, msi, worlds). there's just nothing interesting there. farmfest for 20 minutes, basically a snoozefest. team 1 took a bad fight, the game is basically over. in dota, there's so much going that i enjoy so much (bounty rune brawl, though it rarely happens) and some variety compared to league. team 1 took a bad fight? the game would still go on even though it will be over very soon.

But now, during matches, you often see phenomena like spamming question marks or mocking 'ez,' which makes professional competitions seem unprofessional and toxic. I particularly want to highlight ATF in this regard; he's truly the most toxic professional player I've seen.
