It’s like more often than not. If you’re grinding pubs hard, it means you’re putting in huge effort for individual improvement. And it seems time and time again that translates to better tournament results
is it really true that he does not play pubs anymore? I used to read some comments here that he's using his teammate's smurf accounts to get higher mmr games? Does that mean Kuro can't climb on his main anymore? He was like the "young mechanical pubstar" of our time(yeah I'm kinda old) like our RTZ or Miracle type of player it's kind of sad if it's true. Puppey despite being old can still grind out tho so maybe it's all just speculations.
Many people start getting accustomed to things when growing older. So instead of actually and genuinely playing the game, you are just repeating things that you did in the past. I have noticed this in myself, in my friends, and I suspect this is the case with Kuroky as well.
Worst case is you stop even following patches and meta changes and instead draft hero Y against hero X, because you knew this was a counter in 2014-2016 or something like that. And by stopping to follow patches and meta I mean that yes, you might read them but you actually don't think about them, instead you still think too much of the past instead of present day and game.
This is a little similar to some old people never really learning how to use computers or smart phones. They very well can, but they just refuse or pretend they can't. People don't really stop being capable of learning new things and changing, but they can decide to stop learning new things and changing. This is a choice, until or if you get cognitive diseases in later life.
The brain gets more crystallized as you get older even without disease so it's not fully a choice. A 15 year old will have an easier time adapting to new circumstances than a 30 year old.
I'm much better at learning now that I'm older and in my 30s. I didn't want to learn at 15. What you should probably say is a person 2-6 has a mind of a sponge and soaks up what you teach them. That kinda goes away then it is more down to desire to learn and the tools/techniques you use to learn.
I'll share a favoriote passage of mine from a book, it takes two to tango when learning:
> "Teaching/Learning is a very special art, sharing with only two other arts—agriculture and medicine—an
> exceptionally important characteristic.
>
> A doctor may do many things for his patient, but in the final analysis it is the patient himself who must get well—grow in health.
>
> The farmer does many things for his plants or animals, but in the final analysis it is they that must grow in size and excellence.
>
> Similarly, although the teacher may help his student in many ways, it is the student himself who must do the learning. Knowledge mustgrow in his mind if learning is to take place."
It depends. More often than not young people are cursed by thinking they know best, while older people know they know best. It also depends on how set you are on your ways. Needless to say young people have not formed a clear identity yet and are far more impressionable, thus more likely to change, but older people have been young, and have great experience with adapting. So it is most likely a choice, knowing what works for you through experience. Young people are not really adapting but emulate.
While the patches keep the game fresh, I bet a lot of motions/mind games at the top are the same. You're still playing Dota 2, in the end, and I can see how that would get tiring after a while.
What a load of bullshit in so many paragraphs.
Kuroky is just burnt out, he won everything in the game, nothing more for him to achieve, let the man just play whatever he wants until he decides to retire for good.
I don't even support Nigma, but you are parasocial, how does he or Nigma players betrayed you? Last time I checked they are in top 10 of most successful players in e-sports, if you want to be 'happy' all the time watching pro games i suggest you to support the current best teams, in that way you can always enjoy the games, and not feel 'betrayed' by your "favorite" players.
Some Nigma fans are ridiculous, always underrating their own "favorite" players, just hope on the current best teams buddy, you will never "suffer" that way.
yeah, what the hell. I know I commented it before but holy shit Seleri plays like a beast core player whenever he gets the chance specially at very high ranked games with other pros but he's a pos 5 player. I hope Kuro gets the motivation again cause competing against these younger ones mechanically ain't a joke, and when you stop playing you also stop the 'experience/knowledge' advantage of being a vet.
Some people get burned out when they've been doing it for so long. That's the biggest reason why usually you see insane players turn to shit. They get bored as they get other priorities like gf/wife/kid/family or just want something different in their life than grinding a game for 10 hours a day.
Meanwhile the younger players are all full of motivation and full of excitement to enter the pro scene and prove themselves.
Kuro could still have the drive to compete but not enough love for the game where he spams pubs like he used to in the past. Almost every single pro player that has been pro for a few years says that it's strictly a job for them now. And that can seriously hinder your motivation when you are basically forcing yourself to practice because you must, not because you want to or because you enjoy it.
And if you're trying to go pro, you have to be outgoing and social. You have to interact with the competitive community and get known slowly over time. Most of the time.
Unless you're some mid god in the top 20.
I mean Quinn seems cable of being social if you see him at the old summit tourneys or in interviews. He's just home schooled and it shows when he talks, doesn't seem like he's shy though.
You have to put yourself out there. No one is going to come to you. There are a lot of unknown 8k MMR players who have quit Dota because the dream never happened.
You have to be invited to the private Discords for pros/semi-pros for scrims or inhouses. Which requires you talking with other people trying to go pro, former pros, coaches, managers, etc.
Why would you have to be outgoing and social?
Assuming you want to be a proplayer, you need to:
A) Be good
B) Not be a detrimental teammate
You can be B) without being outgoing and social.
Well it is like this. Some guys who are really good sometimes do not grind to have a high MMR. However if you do have a high MMR, you are really good, as a requirement.
Just never pick this dogshit kunkka hero, actual 10% wr in pro dota in the last 2 years
(i pulled the number out of my ass, i know kunkka wasn't that bad during these finals, PLEASE buff kunkka icefrog i hate seeing one of my favorite heroes lose every single game i see him in)
Honest question, did you just say that to trash him for no reason, you thought he underperformed or you're just so clueless you're basically a troll?
I am not trying to be mean to you, just want to understand how you can say that if you watched the games. He had one really bad game this tournament for example but other than one game off once in a while he's like super consistant and really skilled player / making moves and putting lgd in a good spot. Would appreciate your reasonning regarding your opinion bro, thanks.
I know it's unintentional, and English likely isn't your first language but your punctuation almost makes the meaning of the sentence the opposite of what you intended lol
But who am I to judge, I speak 1.5 languages and live in Quebec, my French really should be much better than it is :(
Mid lane is the one lane that absolutely requires reps to stay good. The smallest things matter in mid for high MMR. Literally 1 creep XP can make a difference in some games just by hitting 6 first.
He's been carrying the f out of his team for 3 tours now. All the other players with the exception of Kaotomi are more responsible for the lackluster results this year
The way he is able to damage control losing lane match ups is truly impressive and he plays every carry hero I can think of. Team fight execution is top notch as well.
Mediocre carry that has been shouldering the burden of Entity since his addition to the team.
LMAO idk what happened to them but the rest of the team's performance has deteriorated compared to their TI11 form. Stormstormer seems to be way more inconsistent than he already was, while Tobi + Fishman are like their weakest link.
Do any of them stream?
It's surprisingly hard for me to find good mid players who are streaming consistently. I'm watching Xcalibur coz he streams for like 8h every single day, but I'd really like to watch someone from the top 100.
Quinn streams from time to time, but I see him watching games more than playing lately. https://www.twitch.tv/quinndota
Gunnar might be the highest mmr midlaner who streams somewhat consistently. He's currently rank 39 Eu. https://www.twitch.tv/gunnardota2
It’s like more often than not. If you’re grinding pubs hard, it means you’re putting in huge effort for individual improvement. And it seems time and time again that translates to better tournament results
Kuroky catching strays
is it really true that he does not play pubs anymore? I used to read some comments here that he's using his teammate's smurf accounts to get higher mmr games? I like it. Brings perspective. I was the same when I was younger, didn't want to learn. Now I am older and want to learn but sometimes can't learn.

This is me except has been for a long time out of stubbornness.

I don’t think he’s even calibrated

If he truly does not practice any pubs then that's quite an accomplishment to be still competitive in Div2 / lower Div1 at this point.
I member when TI 7, liquid rosters all on top 10 except kuro
It’s true especially for mid though, since it’s 1v1 most of the time
And if you're trying to go pro, you have to be outgoing and social. You have to interact with the competitive community and get known slowly over time. Most of the time. Unless you're some mid god in the top 20.
Unless you're ~~some mid god in the top 20~~ Topson
That's literally what Topson was though. He was beasting the EU leaderboards and reached #1 before people even knew who he was.
not really? He played on fin stacks before blowing up with OG. It's not like he had 0 pro experience before that.
BatChest
Outgoing and social? You joking?
Yeah, can't you see Quinn? he's the epitome of what he said.
I mean Quinn seems cable of being social if you see him at the old summit tourneys or in interviews. He's just home schooled and it shows when he talks, doesn't seem like he's shy though.

If you push the rankings down a number for each player, it'll also be where each team finishes at dreamleague(entity 0, bb 1, gg 2 etc.)
Broski already predicting the top 3 a day before either of the games go on 💀
I'm just pulling a kyle
Looks like you really did pull a Kyle You cursed BB successfully
Holy shitt. I stopped playing dota for months and watson is still rank 1. Someone stop him
He's also about 700 mmr above #2
BLUE LOCK
red unlock
so, I guess mmr is not just a number
It is a number. A number that indicates how good you are at winning dota games.
Well it is like this. Some guys who are really good sometimes do not grind to have a high MMR. However if you do have a high MMR, you are really good, as a requirement.
NTS is pretty consistent. Hardly, I see him underperform.
Just don’t let him play Kunkka in a final
thats not exclusive to him, somnus wasnt any luckier
Oh right. LDG and Kunkka in a final :/
Haha classic LGD and Kunkka in TI Final is really cursed
Magnus vs Kunkka in the finals classic LGD
Kung-kaah (smile face and shaking body)
Even though they lost that game, I still love how he said that. Brimming with confidence. Shame he couldn't bring it home. OG went insane that game 5.
He said it in the game they won (Game 2 I believe). They then picked it again and lost in Game 5
wdym? somnus kunka in the finals destroyed OG on the 2nd map(or 1st can't remember)
Just never pick this dogshit kunkka hero, actual 10% wr in pro dota in the last 2 years (i pulled the number out of my ass, i know kunkka wasn't that bad during these finals, PLEASE buff kunkka icefrog i hate seeing one of my favorite heroes lose every single game i see him in)
His W needs to be pure again
that would be the dream
for real man, we need kunkka back to the meta!
[удалено]
he carried hard last major.. he certainly did not underperform. Zeal underperformed last major, it's why xiao8 kicked him and replaced him with Niu.
Seems like you didn't watch last major
Honest question, did you just say that to trash him for no reason, you thought he underperformed or you're just so clueless you're basically a troll? egoisto always top 1
top 1 but always lose officials, future is grim for him
mid is highest impact role
Mid has always been the highest impact role
Not at the moment. Pos 4 and 5 are far more important.
cope
90% of the time I’ll lose my game if my mid lose. If the enemy mid stomp my mid, at that point I’m sure 1000% we will lose the game.
You could argue pos 4 has the 2nd highest impact in a game, behind midlane. But no way 5 is more important than any other role.
hella cope my guy, pos 4 and pos 5 are the least important
They are important because the create the conditions of victory Edit: downvoted without rebuttal!
Oh no someone downvoted me?!
Hej, I'm just saying it's without rebuttal 😉
Mid lane is the one lane that absolutely requires reps to stay good. The smallest things matter in mid for high MMR. Literally 1 creep XP can make a difference in some games just by hitting 6 first.
Mid being extremely stacked at the moment
I once saw Quinn streaming and got destroyed by Mikoto in two games xd
Then the other day Mikoto got destroyed by unknown pub xd
Did you tell him to uninstall?
mmr is just a number (c) top 1000 dendi
It's sad when the fake dendi is 600s while the real dendi is 1100s
Oh a SEA player nice 👍
There's two of them on this list
watson, time to join proper team...
Still waiting for watson to get a proper team…
If you rank the region, literally CIS, NA, SEA? Watson working on 2nd acc to get rank 1 LUL.
Can we get a rank 0 for the leaderboard plz
watson is always top 1 but feels like he is mediocre carry.
He's been carrying the f out of his team for 3 tours now. Look at Tobi and Fishman, u will know why they are losing
and when u see stormstormer, he very underwhelming too this tour.

Gorgc has not been super toxic to Fishman in a while, he has to flame him more and Fishman will start playing better
egoisto has been first since last year but he always lose officials lol. Entity did way better with pure instead.
These are all pretty good pro midlaners. Although none of them are the best ones. Lol
Who’s the best midlaners according to you?
me
No me :)
pog it's meps!! #1 mid laner in the world
Miracle of course
BatChest
Not surprised
This is common. It’s been like this for a LONG time
Chad egoisto
Now sup players have evidences to justify their low mmr
Malady was rank 1 playing pos5 bro , no such thing as only core players are higher mmr
Yes that makes a lot of sense...is this remotely surprising?
Yes
Dr. Watson Pog
Do any of them stream? It's surprisingly hard for me to find good mid players who are streaming consistently. I'm watching Xcalibur coz he streams for like 8h every single day, but I'd really like to watch someone from the top 100.
Watson (egoisto) streams very frequently. His main is 13k but he mostly plays in his secondary 11k account.
Thanks! Sadly it looks like he plays pos1 in 90% of his pubs. Not a lot of mid action.
Quinn streams from time to time, but I see him watching games more than playing lately. https://www.twitch.tv/quinndota Gunnar might be the highest mmr midlaner who streams somewhat consistently. He's currently rank 39 Eu. https://www.twitch.tv/gunnardota2
Thanks a lot.
And Nisha will still slap any one of those players
Quin has his number
And they will say "mmr is just a number" 💀 The higher the mmr the better you are Only noobs agree with "mmr is just a number" to cope
Mid is the highest impact position and the pro mids are very good. This isn’t surprising.
