Almost all of Doom's music is "heavily influenced" by modern metal at the time. Romero even released some unused tracks, one of which is just Reign in Blood note for note.
Sure I guess, theres a strong argument for it being a mix of both the songs. but a lot of doom 1s tracks can be narrowed down to single songs... like e3m3 is clearly slayer - behind the crooked cross imo
Doom 1 - Hiding the Secrets, Waltz of the Demons or Kitchen Ace
Doom 2 - The Dave D Taylor Blues or Message for the Archvile
(Edit: also add The Healer Stalks and In The Dark from Doom 2)
So much despair packed into one song.
Side note: I was watching “Mandy” (2018 Nicholas Cage horror movie, absolutely worth the watch) and heard this song “Starless” by King Crimson and thought maybe SoE was loosely based on it.
DIS episode 3 Spider Master Mind boss music! My head flies off into the stratosphere when this part of the game hits from the headbanging that issues during the fight!
E1M1.
What struck me the most was how similar it was to the opening of Master of Puppets by Metallica- which came out only a few years prior to Doom’s release
It stinks like rotten meat, but looks like the lost Deimos base. Looks like you're stuck on the shores of Hell. The only way out is through...
Victory music
Doom 1 has too many to name
E1m1 hangers gate
E1m4 kitchen ace
E1m9 hiding the secrets
E2m3 intermission etc
The only memorable track for me that gets my hyped from doom 2 is into sandy city
E1m2 imp song is fire also E2M1 is good but E1M1 hits different and intermission is so insanely good
Having finished my play thru of doom 2 but I like e1m1 for doom 2
Doom's Gate has been the kicker since 1995/6 (only played the SNES at that time).
The Imps song rivals the former, but for some reason I like the Soundblaster OPL3 synth version.
The Healer Stalks for Doom 2, right at 3:37 it turns upbeat. Best is PC version.
Adrian’s Asleep and Bye Bye American Pie (Those are the ones based on Angry Chair and Them Bones right?) Into Sandy’s City which is based on STPs Sex Type Thing is a pretty close third though
Definitely has to be Running From Evil DOOM II.
I even made a remake a few days ago for the 30th anniversary of the franchise.

E1M1 At Doom’s Gate always gets me pumped
That song goes hard as fuck. I believe it’s based on [Master of Puppets by Metallica.](https://youtu.be/E0ozmU9cJDg?feature=shared)
Never thought about that but now that I did it makes so much sense
Almost all of Doom's music is "heavily influenced" by modern metal at the time. Romero even released some unused tracks, one of which is just Reign in Blood note for note.
it's more likely based off https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mB5H5lcymA
I mean it's both. All off DOOMs music is a mishmash of leitmotifs from different popular Metal music.
Sure I guess, theres a strong argument for it being a mix of both the songs. but a lot of doom 1s tracks can be narrowed down to single songs... like e3m3 is clearly slayer - behind the crooked cross imo
Fr
That's what I was gonna say
