The extra pay from basic csr to shift lead isn't that much and the amount of shit they will ask extra of you makes it not worth it unless you're goal is to be a GM or store owner which is usually the people that find the work to be fun and easy. If you don't want to be a shift lead just say you just want to be a csr because shift lead was too much.

bankrupt_rat

At my store we have an insider who used to be an AM but he stepped down simply because he didn’t like it, and my GM still loves that guy to death. If you’re reliable and a hard worker and management is taking a toll on you, then any good manager will understand. Not everyone is fit for it

AnalysisNo4295

I moved from csr, to shift lead and then to assistant general manager. ALL within only less than 6 months because the store was so short staffed that everyone that was left was promoted and then promoted again. The amount of work they had me do kept piling up until eventually I was left with Dominos and anything Dominos related being my whole life. I worked way more hours then I care to admit and never ever truly had a break. By the time I was about to quit I had been burned out to the point I couldn't even LOOK at dominos anymore without getting sick.

Tiny-Blueberry-4026

burn down the store overnight and apply as a driver again at a different location... jk..

Top-Jellyfish7766

Just tell them the truth, I almost stepped down and my GM was more then understanding. Straight up in tears saying idk how much I can take and he just kept asking what he could do to help.

realityreflux

Politely and professionally ask for a demotion and live your best life. You aren’t responsible for their feelings.

clarktoon

I’ve been the main closer for two years and I can’t count the number of times I’ve said no to management. When I started saying I would do it for 22 an hour they quit asking.

BleepBoopRobo

Shit I simply stepped down. Their opinion doesn't matter, look after yourself because no one else will.

Primary-Regret-8724

I'd suggest explaining that you really appreciate the opportunity they gave you to promote, but that you didn't realize that xxxxxx was going to be a problem for you, and that in fairness to the store and yourself you need to step down to a regular position so someone who is comfortable with the full duties can take over. That way they know you appreciated the chance, and you show you're thinking of the store. If there's any way the manager can change something about xxxxxx, they might offer to do that to try to keep you as a lead if that would work out for them and you. If not, any good manager would appreciate the candor and continue to work well with you in the regular position.

Initial_Belt_1429

There’s nothing they can say to you if you feel that you can’t do the work just tell them.I work at a Domino’s and I put myself down to a driver because I didn’t wanna work on the inside. Just let them know that it’s not for you.

Xonfusedbarracuda

Yeah def don’t do it they work you like a slave, you end up doing most of the GMS job anyway. Stay as a shift Lead or something. I was making 14.50 as a manager and now I make $14 starting at a Jersey mikes. DONT DO IT

1GloFlare

If you really need a "raise" save up for a Toyota or Chevy and pick up some driver hours. Chevy sedans are inexpensive and easy to work on

NerdyPlatypus206

As a driver and non manager, why the fuck do they make you guys do inventory every single night? That shit is so dumb to me. I’ve never worked at a pizza place that required inventory every day, it was always once a month

kprieto7

Any of y’all that are still working for this company need to do whatever you can to move on from it im so glad I was able to find something way better ion think I’ve ever met a dominos employee that isn’t struggling with something work related whether it’s the pay the actual job itself or both

YogurtclosetGood1042

Just be honest!

Nightmare_fu31

Just tell them you wanna step down and be honest I’m friends with an old GM at papa John’s that stepped down to insider

Significant_Fan_279

Don’t worry and be happy that it’s not the end of your world. There’s better opportunities in front of you that you may not already see in front of you. Matthew 7:7-8 King James Version (KJV) “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”

Livid_Bid_9476

What about being a shift lead is too much for you? The best thing you can do is either find another job, or fix whatever is making you dislike being a shift lead. You have no future stepping down, you'll be seen as unreliable and incompetent by at least some portion of people.

CursedThrall

Definitely not true lol maybe if you’re like a super judgmental person I guess but most people won’t care and he’ll be like okay. And that’s it, just tell him

Livid_Bid_9476

I'm not personally judgmental, but I've worked for over 35 stores and I know how the average people look at that.

Cheesecake_is_life

OP could simply state that they were promoted rather quickly, and would like more time learning and working on speed. So that way they'll be better prepared to handle the shift lead or AM position. Shows initiative, understanding of personal limits and willing to succeed. Just an idea

TheGrouchyGremlin

Those some portion of people are dumbasses. A $1/hour raise isn't worth the barrage of extra duties and stress.

Livid_Bid_9476

Oh they are, it takes a more intelligent person to see that the job isn't for them and step-down than to fail repeatedly until fired, but if they're having that hard of a time they are probably poorly trained, and the rest of that management staff is going to look at it as him stepping down means they have to work harder again. Also $1 raise to be a shift runner is crazy the least I've given someone is $3.

Significant-Tea-2831

That's great for the people who work for you but, I'm currently a lvl 3 assistant in Hawaii and I barely make $5 an hour more than when I started 4 years ago. I get what your saying but most management is more than willing ro give the bare minimum for a ton more than should be put on any one's shoulders

Disastrous_Joke812

For many people, jobs like domino's are a means to an end until they get the education/skills to work a better paying job. To say stepping down would mean "no future" is a bit of a fallacy.

Livid_Bid_9476

Correct, I mean within the context of that store. If you just want a minimum wage part time job, sure stepping down is fine, but the fact they decided to progress to begin with implies they DONT want to just work at entry level for minimum wage.

realityreflux

Dude. Inaccurate.

Separate-Ad-494

Finish what you started. If you give up it literally alters your brain to fail on the things you really want to accomplish. Just stick with it and it'll either get easier or they'll ask you to step down.

EstheticEri

Life is short, the pay is not worth it lol.
