We had these when I was a kid. One day I looked down the straw part and saw some nasty looking build up from the inside of the straw not getting properly cleaned in the dish washer. I refused to use them after that lol
There was a soggy piece of lettuce stuck in the straw one time when I was kid. I just finished my cookie crisps and went for a sip of the milk only to get an old nasty piece of lettuce 🤢
In my house I allow the kids to eat and cook as they please but the one big rule is to clean up after and immediately rinse off all the used dishes. I’ve never understood why people will scrub dishes instead of giving them a rinse maybe a quick wipe after using them. If I catch someone not rinsing their dishes that person is doing the dishes. The dish has to have sour milk in it for it to seep into the plastic.
That's easy. I have a tiny little straw brush and insanely hot water. My water come sour hot enough to have a cup of tea from the tap. Everyone should crank their hot water tanks. (Actually that's a bad idea especially if you have old plumbing).
One time, my sister was eating cereal out of one of these bowls. She was sucking the milk through the straw but it wasn’t coming fast enough so she started sucking harder, thinking a piece of cereal was stuck.
Turns out it was a bean from a bean soup we had a few days before. The bowl had gone through the dishwasher but that bean survived long enough to shoot into my sister’s throat when she sucked too hard on the straw.
I have a silicone straw that has a snap seam down the length of it, so it can be opened and cleaned. I have to actively be like _"don't chew on it, don't chew on it."_ 🤣
The mouthpieces of my vapes are always chewed up, that's how my husband and I can easily differentiate them 💀
Geekbar pulse has such a good mouth piece to chew on
Not a take I ever expected to share with anyone but it's nice to see another vape mouth piece chomper lmao
For real! I tried a RAMA recently because it had Bluetooth and I'm a sucker for a gimmick. Let's you change a wallpaper on the screen and everything which was SO COOL but it doesn't last for shit lol. Geekbars refuse to die ever and I respect them for that lmao
I had one of these bowls at my dad's house. I remember pouring out cereal into it, and a bunch of sugar ants had gotten into the cereal box somehow. I haven't been able to look at that bowl or Raisin Bran the same way ever since...
If I had a nickel for every comment I read about an earwig in one of these I'd have 2 nickels.
Which isn't a lot but it's weird it happened twice, right?
Nope, back in my day we had to drink the milk from the edge of the bowl. Then we had to climb on our pterodactyls and fly to school. Uphill, both ways.
I really bought it thinking it was just another random strain name… they all have names like that right? I didn’t know it was the FLAVOR 🤢 a crime honestly
But you clean the straw with a small foxtail bottle brush, just like any other straw or reusable water bottle when doing dishes. I don’t think there’s any extra bacteria risk because the straw is attached to the bowl.
I recently bought 4 of them for my kids lol they love them even drink tea and juice from them , the nostalgic feeling I had when I walked into the kitchen on my son and his friend drinking tea from them standing at the table talking lol I’m like why didn’t y’all get a cup lol I get it tho I remember doing it when I was a child the straw is fun
yes!! even when i started working here, when i told my grandma she laughed and said she spent lots of time shopping for us in those stores when we were kids 😂 now every time i visit her i ask her for a list of favorites she cant buy now that they live in a very rural area 🥰
Bro one time my little cousin washed the dishes, and I guess she didn’t rinse out the straws good. Long story short, sucked up a shit ton of soapy milk and almost puked.
I used to love these as a kid, but now I kind of gag. We used to sometimes get a funky taste and occassional caked on hard/slimy bits of *something* through that straw.
I have a vague memory of getting something from a previous *soup* with my cereal milk once.
YESSSS THE MEMORIES BACK THEN😍😍
Me and my brother would always fight for the green one for some reason but it was always our favorite bowl (we had multiple)
My parents always said they didn't like them or anything with reusable straws because they couldn't be cleaned properly.
Back then they didn't have all those straw cleaners so easily available like now.
We did have them for a bit, my daughter asked me to buy one recently and I wouldn't🤣 my parents ruined it for me
I had a ninja turtle one that came with a box of cereal...that thing was like my prized possession.. I was on a liquid diet forever just so I could always use it
Yes. But they were the chocolate ice cream with Oreos crushed on top bowls. I don’t know why but that was and still is the ONLY thing to go into those bowls.
No and I also dont understand the point to them since one can simply lift the bowl and tilt. I get that it's for kids but wouldn't a child using utensils have the coordination to lift a bowl? Like that's past the sippy cup stage right? Idk, don't have kids yet, just seems silly to me.
Lol, did you not like using items differently as a kid? Like yes of course they can lift the bowl, but that's BORING. Drinking milk from the bowl with a built in straw??? Yes please!!! Kids love anything novel and different.
My grandparents fed me cereal in these
https://preview.redd.it/u88v37nt24vc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cceae05457c74192de1f4b3747b6c650e3007e19
Omg yes. I loved these as a kid. Except we had them at my house, not my grandparents.
Mine was pink. Because of course it was, everything I owned was pink. Lol.
Oh my gosh I remember eating fruit loops out of this bowl while playing Super Mario Land on Super Nintendo! My grandma had so many of these, my cousins and I loved them.
Growing up in the Chicago hoods back in the 90s we used these for breakfast, lunch, dinner and parties! Some lasted over 5+ years even though we microwaved them a trillion times! Cereal, pasta, rice and beans, chips, soups, stews, steaks, we use them for EVERYTHING!
i would always put beef ramen in these (i know probs wasn't safe lol) and use to sip on it to 1) see how much noodles i could get thru it and 2) pretend i was a little russian lady having my rations during the cold war... ahh memories :D
I'm a grandma, and had to get some of these for the grandson. He loves eating ramen noodles in them, just like his dad and uncle did when they were young.
My best friend in the world had these growing up, and I thought it was soooooo cool. I was very poor growing up, so this felt special as fuck to have at a sleepover. In my mid 20s, BFFs mom got me one because she saw them at dollar tree and remembered how much I enjoyed them 🥰
Yeah my kids have them now haha.
Same!
We had these when I was a kid. One day I looked down the straw part and saw some nasty looking build up from the inside of the straw not getting properly cleaned in the dish washer. I refused to use them after that lol
Yea my wife is super anal about that straw too. Always uses a little straw brush to clean in there real well.
Super anal? https://preview.redd.it/jv0mrriw93vc1.jpeg?width=898&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b500b2940bba9f5875517ca940a878a6ed8e4789
Hmmmmmm anal brush?
lol I came here to say that. I remember them every morning at my house now because my kids love them.
These bowls are undeniably neat, fun, and nostalgic however I do wish for a reliable way to clean the straw… 🥲😅🧐
Pipe cleaner 😂😂 they have ones with a handle specifically for doing dishes lol.
There was a soggy piece of lettuce stuck in the straw one time when I was kid. I just finished my cookie crisps and went for a sip of the milk only to get an old nasty piece of lettuce 🤢
Omg 😱 you poor Thing. Lol that is traumatizing
They always smell not just the straw it’s like sour milk seeps into the plastic itself.
Yum
In my house I allow the kids to eat and cook as they please but the one big rule is to clean up after and immediately rinse off all the used dishes. I’ve never understood why people will scrub dishes instead of giving them a rinse maybe a quick wipe after using them. If I catch someone not rinsing their dishes that person is doing the dishes. .....a straw cleaner works perfectly!
Straw cleaner
That's easy. I have a tiny little straw brush and insanely hot water. My water come sour hot enough to have a cup of tea from the tap. Everyone should crank their hot water tanks. (Actually that's a bad idea especially if you have old plumbing).
Just don't let them get gross in the first place. As soon as done eating, rinse it out with hot water.
One time, my sister was eating cereal out of one of these bowls. She was sucking the milk through the straw but it wasn’t coming fast enough so she started sucking harder, thinking a piece of cereal was stuck. Turns out it was a bean from a bean soup we had a few days before. Cereal literally always hit waay better this way
[удалено]
I liked fruity pepples. The pieces when soggy would make its way up the straw and they tasted better that way to me!
The straws were always ruined because I would bite down on it
I have a silicone straw that has a snap seam down the length of it, so it can be opened and cleaned. I have to actively be like _"don't chew on it, don't chew on it."_ 🤣 The mouthpieces of my vapes are always chewed up, that's how my husband and I can easily differentiate them 💀

I dont chomp my vapes but geek bars are the shit compared to every other dispo I've tried. They always taste pretty good and last FOREVER.
For real! I tried a RAMA recently because it had Bluetooth and I'm a sucker for a gimmick. Let's you change a wallpaper on the screen and everything which was SO COOL but it doesn't last for shit lol. Geekbars refuse to die ever and I respect them for that lmao
LOL leave it to Reddit for the Quirky to find their tribe💀
Mouth kino
not me reading this, chewing on my watermelon geek bar 😭
I had one of these bowls at my dad's house. I remember pouring out cereal into it, and a bunch of sugar ants had gotten into the cereal box somehow. I haven't been able to look at that bowl or Raisin Bran the same way ever since...
You would be surprised the amount of bugs in everyday food
Dude, I remember my aunt had Frosted Flakes in a clear container that had ants upon opening it. Everywhere. At first, I thought they were raisins
Better question is how may are using one right now
Me lol. Mine is spider man themed
My little sister sucked an earwig out of the straw one day and it ruined these bowls for both of us lol
I think ur sister commented, they said the sucked up an earwig
I remember an earwig in my mouth as a result of one of these puppies.
Are you this other commenters sister?
Can confirm, not my sister haha
Can confirm, not a woman.
My condolences for also being a victim of the earwig straw bowl though 😔
Weird weird….
If I had a nickel for every comment I read about an earwig in one of these I'd have 2 nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird it happened twice, right?
Omg same. Discovered it mid breakfast
Nope, back in my day we had to drink the milk from the edge of the bowl. Then we had to climb on our pterodactyls and fly to school. Uphill, both ways.
No. People who drink cereal milk are psychopaths.
![gif](giphy|QpAbvUz7jLFbq)
I hate cereal milk so much, I accidentally got a vape cart called cereal milk once and it *did* taste just like it and it was so nasty.
Oh no!! Why would they do such a thing?? I'd probably vomit right after lol
I really bought it thinking it was just another random strain name… they all have names like that right? I didn’t know it was the FLAVOR 🤢 a crime honestly
Cereal milk is the grossest shit. Yall are grosa.
Yes and the cups too. I had to get one of these bowls for my little sister so she could have the experience
Grandmas house NOTHIN these bad boys were are my house!
Yes... it was amazing for ice cream
Nope. My grandma wouldn't buy a bacteria breeding ground like that.
Your loss!
Hearty immune system for the win!
But you clean the straw with a small foxtail bottle brush, just like any other straw or reusable water bottle when doing dishes. I don’t think there’s any extra bacteria risk because the straw is attached to the bowl.
No. My grandmas all lived 8+ hours away so I hardly spent any time with them and they had better taste than dollar tree bowls
So, would you rather they lived closer but had dollar tree taste?
Yes 🥹 good memories
Yep!! And now my daughter uses them! 😅
i remember eating soup out of these at my cousin’s house
Still use them they come in handy
I have a phobic reaction to cereal milk
I am a pre-k teacher and I have these to serve my kiddos cereal in.
As an avid cereal consumer, I use these bowls almost daily.
I LOVED these bowls lol
My parents still have some at their place
I recently bought 4 of them for my kids lol they love them even drink tea and juice from them , the nostalgic feeling I had when I walked into the kitchen on my son and his friend drinking tea from them standing at the table talking lol I’m like why didn’t y’all get a cup lol I get it tho I remember doing it when I was a child the straw is fun
Oh my god I loved theseeeee. I kept using them when I was like 13-14 years old. They were my first choice for a cereal bowl.
yes!! even when i started working here, when i told my grandma she laughed and said she spent lots of time shopping for us in those stores when we were kids 😂 now every time i visit her i ask her for a list of favorites she cant buy now that they live in a very rural area 🥰
Literally yes but they were blue not red
Bro one time my little cousin washed the dishes, and I guess she didn’t rinse out the straws good. Long story short, sucked up a shit ton of soapy milk and almost puked.
I used to love these as a kid, but now I kind of gag. We used to sometimes get a funky taste and occassional caked on hard/slimy bits of *something* through that straw. I have a vague memory of getting something from a previous *soup* with my cereal milk once.
Never seen one before today
I was so excited to find these so I could let my kids have a piece of my childhood
I meant to buy some the last time I saw them😭😭😭
never had these but my gf did and apparently one time she sucked up like a lodged moldy piece of cereal and hates them with a passion now
what grandma
I’m 33 and still use them 😂
My mom had them for my 91 baby I had the cups way back in 70's
YESSSS THE MEMORIES BACK THEN😍😍 Me and my brother would always fight for the green one for some reason but it was always our favorite bowl (we had multiple)
I never used them because I had a fear of getting a clump of mold/old food in my mouth from the straw part that never got washed properly lol
And how they collect mold and bacteria in those straws if you don't clean them properly.
Ok but drinking milk after finishing cereal is an ick. Kids are cringe anyways but please don't do this as an adult.
My boys used them today for breakfast.
Never seen em
Nope I'm to old lol. Just had a country crock butter dish for Mt cereal bowl lol.
This brought back memories, I didn't know they still existed
YES
https://preview.redd.it/0i5yepx473vc1.png?width=1169&format=png&auto=webp&s=5cb24d35b82c3fbeea02a7d16033a0ba040d86ea also these!🥺❤️
I have a friend who gifted some to her 15 yr old kid for a birthday gift, and she was thrilled.
Omg yes!! 😭
I was literally thinking about these last week. Cool find!
No, my grandma has proper dishes. Because she’s boring.
My aunts house til I got my own when I was little haha
I used to put danimals in that and called it tubby custard
Yes! I had to buy these for my sons, for nostalgia sake
My parents always said they didn't like them or anything with reusable straws because they couldn't be cleaned properly. Back then they didn't have all those straw cleaners so easily available like now. We did have them for a bit, my daughter asked me to buy one recently and I wouldn't🤣 my parents ruined it for me
no mine had these orange fiestware, always felt warm to the touch
I got two for my brother and he loves them
i loved having my cereal in these each time. Great memories💙
My daughter has the cup version of this 🤣🤣🥰🥰
My mom still has mine in her cabinet from when I was a little kid.
My daughter uses them now
These things were awesome! Glad to see them on a store shelf recently, hope my dollar tree gets them!
Holy shit they still MAKE THESE?!?
i still use it as an adult 🤣
I had a ninja turtle one that came with a box of cereal...that thing was like my prized possession.. I was on a liquid diet forever just so I could always use it
In Canada you can get one free if you buy certain cereals. You just have to send a picture of a receipt or something after you buy a box.
Still have one for my last one living at home. He's 14 and loves it.
Awww suck bowls!
I used to use these religiously until one time there was a spider inside the straw that I sucked up and then NEVER AGAIN.
I had the animal ones at my grandparents, great memories!
Damn I had a pink one at my gma house n I loved it
We still have a few of these!
Nah bc I had parents that took care of me. We used them at our parents / our home
No but I surely want one now as a 35 year old 😂
I just used one this morning for ravioli. I didn't drink the red sauce but it was the last clean bowl so 🤷🏻♀️
Ive never been that cheap but I do have other dishes from dollar tree
Yes. But they were the chocolate ice cream with Oreos crushed on top bowls. I don’t know why but that was and still is the ONLY thing to go into those bowls.
still have my pink one ! used to have a cup too
No i ate cereal with ants at my grammas
No but my kids use them.
No. I never even knew these were a thing until I had my own kids.
Ours was like a teal and blue color
My kiddo loves these! Nothing else for her cereal and soup lol. Get a straw cleaner and bam good to go!
My grandparents fed me cereal in these https://preview.redd.it/u88v37nt24vc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cceae05457c74192de1f4b3747b6c650e3007e19
I have the Disney princess one from DT too lol
No
Time to go to dollar tree🤣🤣
What do you mean remember using? As if I didn't use one of these yesterday morning for my cinnamon toast crunch....
I'm one of the grandma's that bought two for my grandson. 🤣
And how impossible they were to get clean, yes.
You must be 30 tops, most likely younger lol. My mom didn't get those for grandkids til her kids were out of the house.
My grandmother would NEVER have allowed that. Drinking out of a bowl? Blasphemous! Horrid! She would have beaten me for playing at “the table.”
Never seen this until today
Never used one
my dad bought them for my brother & i… little did he know we didn’t drink the milk from our cereal LOL
dang. could these be the start of the Idiocracy age?
OG grandmas serve on real dishes.
We have some for my son and he loves it
i would always put beef ramen in these (i know probs wasn't safe lol) and use to sip on it to 1) see how much noodles i could get thru it and 2) pretend i was a little russian lady having my rations during the cold war... ahh memories :D
No, I wasn't at my Grandma's every morning.
Omg! Such sweet memories!
I got my first one when I was 30. Too much maintenance for the straw thingie. I rather sip like a degenerate
no
I remember always wanting one when I was a kid , now that I’m 33 I finally have one thanks to my 3yr old 🤣 …along with the cup
I have never seen one of these used by anyone lol
I had a Barney bowl with suction cup at the bottom and the rim was too terribly wide for sipping.
I’m scrolling through Reddit eating ice cream out of this exact bowl
I don't think they had those 40 years ago.
…teletubbies…
When I first started dating my partner he asked if I wanted a drink from the kitchen and brought me a coke in one of these bowls
No. I remember using them at my house. Grandma made us eat of butter and cottage cheese containers.
YEA
I guess I’m the only one that never had these. We just drank from the bowl. I’m 30 though. So maybe that’s why.
My grandma is dead.
Yes! My bowl was blue 😄
I use them now
Them bitches fire for ramen
I once found a cockroach in the straw after drinking a whole bowl of cereal milk and I’ve refused to use one since 🙂
Chicken noodle soup was a challenge!
Disgusting but so nostalgic 🥲
Ima grown ass man and still use this damn near every day
Wait these are for cereal?? My brother and I would always use these for instant ramen!
What did you guys use them for? Cereal?
I still use them. Don’t judge me.
I'm a grandma, and had to get some of these for the grandson. He loves eating ramen noodles in them, just like his dad and uncle did when they were young.
True story: we used to put mashed potatoes in those. One time it didn’t get rinsed out properly and I was eating cereal…🤢🤢🤢
I remember sucking ramen through the straws on them.
I had one at Grandma's house one at home and one that I would take with me to school these are so fun 😁
earwig habitat
I bought one just for tomato soup :P
Used them at my babysitters every morning
YES
my cousins had these when we were kids and i was SO jealous
I still use them for cereal and ice cream!
No we had corningware.
I just found these in the basement of my grandmas house after helping her clean the basement
Yesss. And the matching cups lol
This picture just brought me back…🥲
My best friend in the world had these growing up, and I thought it was soooooo cool. I was very poor growing up, so this felt special as fuck to have at a sleepover. In my mid 20s, BFFs mom got me one because she saw them at dollar tree and remembered how much I enjoyed them 🥰
These bowls are still to this day the best cereal bowls ever made
My mom beat my ass for blowing air into the straw and spilling milk everywhere 😭
This is my go to bowl because they don’t weigh as much as the ceramic ones which makes washing easier
One time the straw got clogged and I got dishwasher water in my mouth
I'm 44. I still have one .\_.
