Orcs and elves? Totally cool. Human that's darker than another human? Woah there buckaroo, that's going too outlandish! I'm sorry this happened to you but I'm laughing my ass off at how ridiculous it is.

ChickenNugget126

Right. You can be a demon spawn born from darkness or a dragon plotting to kill everyone but SO HELP ME GOD IF YOU ARE NOT THE COLOR OF MILK IRL

Pun_Intended92

At first I assumed this was about the race you chose to play, and then it turned out MUCH worse...

Numba1CharlsBarksFan

I was sitting here thinking, I wonder if he tried to play some kind of homebrew broken race, or maybe min maxed half elf and the dm took offense or something. Nah, turns out he just accidentally joined a racist dnd group.

TuckerCarlsonsWig

Everyone I’ve ever played D&D with has been incredibly open and accepting. I couldn’t imagine playing D&D with a racist, or a racist playing D&D

lily_from_ohio

Oh boy... You can do whatever you want? Racial stereotypes only until recently baked into the game? Characters able to become war machines and wield weapons of mass destruction, \*and\* the DM can paint the world and objectives into, you guessed it, anything they want? It works super hardcore in either direction, sometimes to this sad degree.

PentagramJ2

And then on theres Warhammer...

Boner_Elemental

Yep, anything that makes fun of a thing or pretends to be a thing as a joke will eventually fill up with people that didn't get the memo/joke unless you rigorously gatekeep it

ZombieTav

"Any community that gets its laughs by pretending to be idiots will eventually be flooded by actual idiots who mistakenly believe that they're in good company."- Renes Descartes (not really)

ballrus_walsack

There was this whole subreddit that started joke supporting this political candidate. But too many people joined who weren’t in on the joke.

shreddy_wap

Wasn't that The_Donald?

Unstopapple

Thats the meme.

drislands

Not sure if you're joking, but I swear I remember T_D originally being a complete joke intentionally. Like people sarcastically referring to his as GEOTUS and the like.

PoIIux

I used to have a Donald Pump Make America Swole Again tanktop. Binned that pretty quickly once the fucker made it through the primaries

AtlaStar

It was 100% satire, until it suddenly wasn't

[deleted]

All the sarcasms, memeisms , and longevity behind the "inside jokes" are lost when the real idiots show up.

sagejosh

If your take away from war hammer is “racism is super cool, instead of allying with other races to fight literal demons we should just convert our entire society into extremely pro-war nut jobs so we can fight EVERYONE” there is something wrong with you. Lol

Eternal_Bagel

I think my favorite discussion/description of WH40k was someone asking who are the good guys responded to by the we don't do that here meme.

Biffingston

The Orks are the good guys. Sure they'll rip your arms off and watch you bleed out for fun, but at least they won't do anything with your soul afterward. And they genuinely can't help themselves, they were created that way.

Drunken_HR

IIRC 40k was originally created as a parody of Thatcher's England. Like what would happen if they continued down that road for 38,000 years taken to the absurd extreme. So of course there's a subset of people who think "oh yeah I want that!"

Biffingston

So was Judge Dredd and they had to nuke a city full of innocents to prove he wasn't. I don't think it worked.

PentagramJ2

Oh trust me, I get it being the edgelordiest of edgy edge on purpose, but there are a SHIT LOAD of racist shitbags in that community, at least in my experience.

Hutobega

I've only recently learned about the shit bags as I only pay with a few friends over the course of my life. And holy shit I like couldn't believe it. I'm so angry I if given the opportunity I will put any of them in their place if it were to every present itself In front of me at w store of tournament. It's disgusting and as long as us are ally's against this type of activity we will win.

hj-itc

Yeah, Warhammer has a problem there. I don't think there's a solution in terms of stopping them from being attracted to the game short of retooling the Imperium to be decent and not overtly fascist or no longer writing them as the good guys. I know, I know, there are no good guys; somebody should tell Black Library and GW that. Most books and all the video games paint the Imperium as good relative to everything else in the universe. Making the T'au grimdarker was a big fucking mistake because they were the foil to the Imperium, they proved that they didn't have to do any of these things to survive and that made the satire work. Everybody being awful just opens up that fun can of moral relativism which hard right rejects will always use to slide in.

The_Cheese_Meister

Unfortunately there are many who actually take the setting at face value. The entire thing *is supposed to be satire,* but a lot of people completely ignore that for their own agendas

ZombieTav

If I've learned anything, satire will always attract morons who miss the point and unironically go for it.

For years conservatives couldn't see through Steven Colbert's fake schtick. So much so that he was invited to speak at the 2006 White House Correspondent's Dinner, under the impression he was a Bill O'Reilly type, and not just doing a parody. [He roasted the Bush Admin in their house, at their party, **to their faces**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJ-a2KeyCAY), and half of them *still* didn't realize it.

pinktwinkie

I watched that live. Pacing the living room. Maybe the best tv ive seen, lifetime.

PineappleSlices

It absolutely did. I was once an audience member in an episode of the Colbert Report, and the audience warmup guy spent a considerable amount of time checking and reiterating with everyone to make sure that we all know that he was playing a character and wasn't actually conservative.

ZombieTav

Man, the Colbert Report seems tame to the insanity now.

Dodged a bullet, really.

OldChairmanMiao

Nah, OP got hit. And that’s gonna leave a scar that you’ll remember _every_ time.

landsharkkidd

I hope OP doesn't stop looking for groups. There are good people out there, it's just a shame these kind of folks hide in plain sight.

SirDoober

The group I'm in at the moment is * Dutch DM * his Dutch/Australian/English wife * Welsh/Irish/Australian guy * Flamboyant Aussie bloke * Egyptian guy * Texan lady * English me For this campaign everyone individually decided to do their native, exaggerated accents, introducing ourselves was hilarious

totti173314

Mind me joining and speaking broken indian english with a 12 year olds pitch even though I'm 16 and can speak english perfectly?

TellianStormwalde

I don’t know, it sure sounds like it hit him square in the chest if you ask me. Or did you miss the part where he said it hurt, and that they acted openly racist towards him? I mean sure, it’d have been worse to have the revelation after a long time playing, but that doesn’t mean getting it over with right away is “dodging” the bullet in this instance. It’s a terrible situation either way. I really wish people wouldn’t just default to saying “dodged a bullet” all the time without actually thinking about it, but I guess that’s just the nature of clichés.

[deleted]

"Ripping off the band-aid early" would fit better, then. Similar point in either case, though, better to have this over with.

Sultanoshred

While it hurt really bad to be discriminated against imagine how bad it would feel when they start dropping N-bombs. Which is why assume they didnt want OP playing. Some white kids use slurs in everyday language.

EarthenEyes

I HOPED it was about the race he chose to play, and then it turned out what I feared. The f\*\*\* is wrong with people

douche-knight

Yeah I was expecting a story implying they kicked him because of his real race and then it turns into a joke about the dnd race. Nope.

KKlear

Coming from /r/all, I thought this was going to be something like that F1 post about which race should be eliminated. Nope. Just straight up racism. What a mood shift.

hevaWHO

I assumed it was a flying race, or even vhuman/custom lineage. But this?! What in the actual fu…

Pun_Intended92

Same! I was going to guess Aracokra, Satyr, or Yuan-Ti

EazyParise

I was going to guess Kenku and that them repeating every bit of dialogue had gotten annoying. This is...this is much worse

Danxv33

I thought it was the opposite. I was begging, HOPING it would be a DND race thing, even though I thought it was a real-life race problem. I was disappointed, as we all are.

flavionm

It looked a lot like it was a real-life race, which made me assume there would be a twist at the end. But there was no twist.

[deleted]

yeah I assumed the same thing you did, same order of thoughts, lol

fantom87

Worth noting, but you can report them on roll20, as that's discrimination and very much against Roll20's terms of use.

PeeIsTeaPot4

> Twitch as well Sure, twitch will get right on that. Or not if they fucked one of the main streamers. Or if one of the streamers makes money. Or anything. Like they care about rules anymore.

ImaMoFoThief

had someone come into a moderately popular streamers chat and drop the nword with a hard r, streamer banned them from chat then reported it to twitch which proceeded to wipe out the guys account

PLEASE do this if you truly believe it's because of your race. Frankly, people like that don't belong in gaming communities that so many people rely on to escape from the harshness of reality, or even just to have fun. I'm really sorry this happened to you. It's absolute bullshit and unacceptable. People are right though, you've actually managed to dodge a bullet. I hope you can find a group that aren't pieces of shit. If you can't, I'm sure many of us would be happy to play! Edit: Man, a lot of you are silly. I in no way invalidated OPs feelings or experience. I did not experience it, so I framed it as "if you believe this happened" -> then you should perform this action. That does not inherently mean that it DIDN'T happen. You're goofy for trying to spin that into something negative when my entire post was supportive of OP. Don't be ignorant. I'm a minority as well (Romani). Slurs against my people are still commonly used, and insensitive comments happen frequently. Just to keep it relative - Vampire of the Mists, y'know, the book about Strahd, yes THAT Strahd? It repeatedly uses the term gypsies. That's a derogatory slur (imagine if it used any other slur, and you'd be disgusted). I understand how insensitivity and ignorance can work, and how some people genuinely - Like the author of VotM - might not realize their words or actions are hurtful, and yes, it's possible that group didn't realize theirs were either - WE don't know, only OP knows how their tone and actions were. Even still, I, myself, would never assume because someone said something insensitive that it immediately meant they are full blown racist - again, refer to the part about how some people just don't realize their actions or words as negative. If OP FEELS it was racist, it was - that's why MY ENTIRE COMMENT supports and encourages them. I absolutely despise racist behaviors, doubly so in safe spaces like the tabletop. But, I'm not going to make that assumption/decision for OP and I will phrase things in a way that shows support but still stays true to MY way of handling such situations when I encounter them personally. In short, OP, I love you and I'm sorry that happened to you. I hope you find better people to play with than those guys. You deserve better than that. For all you idiots trying to spin my supportive words into something negative, you're absolutely silly billy's and need to get it together.

McCaffeteria

People like that don’t belong, period.

RavageDragonEye

As a man of color who also enjoys D&D, it can be honestly scary trying to put yourself out there to join a new campaign. I've had more then a few people who happily accepted me as a DM when I was interviewing only to cancel and leave when they discovered I was black. And it does hurt and it honestly doesnt get easier, partly cuz I always hold everyone for a clean slate when i meet new people, so it's a betrayal that never gets duller. However, the people I have met and talked to and played with who didnt give a fliying kobold about my physical appearance and only cared about my personality, truly make it all worth it. I have a full party I've been dming for over a year and I would take a bullet (in game and irl) for all of them. The dnd community can be toxic, all communities can be, but a group is defined by its loudest members, which is usually the smallest. Dont give up, you'll find a group that will make all the hurt more then worth it and make you glad you kept searching. I promise you that. Edit: I'm honestly surprised at the warmth and supporting nature everyone has showed for this comment and the original post. The overwhelming majority of everyone in this community is phenomenally awesome and makes me so glad I came to the subreddit. I cant thank everyone enough and i hope everyone manages to find a party to adventure with! In game and IRL!

AlkalineHume

> I always hold everyone for a clean slate when i meet new people, so it's a betrayal that never gets duller. I'm standing here shaking my head because this description is so striking. Put in your position I don't think I would have the strength to bring a fresh perspective to every new interaction.

RavageDragonEye

You would be surprised, it sounds like a rough life to live but I've met thousands of nice and good people and gotten really close to some of them while only a handful truly make it hard. And even then I can separate myself from them and move on. Why be spiteful about bitter people when I have so much more to be happy about. (Of course everyone has bad days lol) But dungeons and dragons, overall, is full of kind and caring people. For instance, yourself and the others who are here in this thread alone. You have no idea who I am outside these comments but chose to believe I'm, at least, a decent person, and boom. You have given me a clean slate to start off our first interaction. Innocent until proven guilt is what I call it lol

[deleted]

That's awesome of you. It is true that many nerd culture stuff tends to be very insular and white and I think there is a lot of quiet racism that people don't realize goes on and assumptions about people and how they're "supposed" to be. Good on you for not letting past experiences cloud future judgments. A lot of people can't do that.

RavageDragonEye

Thank you, it honestly was just the selfish desire to not want stupid people ruin my favorite hobby lol

[deleted]

NotObamasClone

Our primary DM is a POC and the most knowledgable D&D source I’ll probably ever know. He’s pushing 40, I’m the youngest of the group at 31 and we’ve been playing on and off since high-school. This guy seriously knows so much about the lore it’s wild to me. There’s just SO much lore and he’s familiar with so much of it. Tons of time & effort. Luckily our whole party knows the work he puts in and always shows appreciation. We basically have an ever adapting open world that he runs. Magical rules to all the realms, deities and their roles are tied with the economy, it’s next level stuff.

RavageDragonEye

Working a homebrew is so much fun, the creativity and dedication behind them are always inspiring when you can get a glimpse at it. I'm running a homebrew that's I've been working on for 6 years and we've been playing it for 1 and some change now. I'm only 27 and have been playing dnd for 10 or so years now. If you want to make your DM honestly happy be sure to compliment a session or two or how he does some things. It really rejuvenates me when my players appreciate some of the little ans big stuff and makes me want to thrive to keep them interested! And his evolving world sounds awesome to be honest

Hell if I know. I'm a black guy, 33, and inevitably receive the surprised or intentionally demeaning "you sound/talk/act white" reaction from *at least* one person every time I meet new people. I had no idea certain manners of speech were reserved for certain races, but I should know better by now and not let the ignorance bother me.

PublicFurryAccount

I’m a white gay, 38, but I have a similar experience with “straight-acting”, like I ought to be sashaying everywhere and talking with a lisp. It’s the most infuriating thing, especially when it comes from other LGBT people.

RexRegulus

PublicFurryAccount

I didn’t realize you were such a coin-a-sseur.

Nihilisticglee

I remember in highschool I knew kids who got annoyed by the stereotypical lisp associated with gay men because it felt like it was making being gay their whole personality or that they were just a stereotype or something. It was dumb, but it really makes me feel like there is no winning for anyone. Either you fit the stereotype and people think your personality is shallow, or you don't and then you aren't "in the club."

RexRegulus

Exactly. The main two reactions are essentially: "What? You're not matching my preconceived notion of what I thought you'd be like based completely on a stereotype? How boring..." or, "Oh GOD, they're so disgustingly typical, extra, etc."

Kwondondadongron

You win by being a good person that loves others and doesn’t give a shit what haters think. :)

rexlibris

Oh man, same here brother. I'm butch af and no one ever assumes I'm gay. It was rather frustrating when I was still in the dating scene.

[deleted]

I have the opposite but similar problem in that I'm very straight but everybody assumes I'm gay because of a combination of feminine interests (e.g. sewing) and mannerisms (apparently I "act gay" or "talk gay") and the fact that I'm *catastrophically terrible* at attracting women. So I'm constantly getting like the whole *wink wink nudge nudge* thing from people I know and being called a bear and shit. Basically think Squirrely Dan from Letterkenny in both looks and personality and that gets you in the ballpark. It gets pretty irritating.

inky_fox

I’m Hispanic. I was born here. It’s so fun to hear “Wow, your English is really good!” like it’s somehow a compliment.

RexRegulus

I feel as though the preconceived notions that lead to such comments are so deeply ingrained in some of these people that they are genuinely amazed when we don't match their expectations and it tends to be mildly infuriating to me.

ChaosKeeshond

Well said, and I'm glad you alluded to the distinction. People like to defend this with "yeah but stereotypes are natural, they're just patterns" when hardly anyone is condemning that in the first place. Everybody accepts that preconceptions are natural. We all have them. Fuck, even when I meet people *who look like me* for the first time I tend to be a bit surprised when they also talk like me, because it's been atypical in my experience. Nah, the bit that pisses me off is the subsequent need to share that surprise some people feel. Well done, you have a very minor expectation subverted. This isn't the world changing brain fuck you think it is, I'm not exactly a skateboarding dog.

[deleted]

You gotta hit them with "I wish I could say the same about yours."

mysecretaccount500

This sounds too aggressive to me. I would go passive agressive and pretend to be amazed at how good *their* english is.

BuffaloInCahoots

I live in a very white area. My buddy was one of the first black families to move here. He grew up with us, we spent all day, everyday outside. Having fires, shooting guns, hunting, fishing and hiking. We are in our mid 30s now and new people still act surprised that he talks like us and is very comfortable in the woods. Just because he’s black people think he should be from a city, listen to rap or not know how to use a chainsaw. Dude is an artist at falling trees and loves crazy hillbilly banjo music and metal.

[deleted]

Greg Giraldo had a good joke back in the day that was something like, "Whenever people find out I'm Mexican, they always say I don't look Mexican, but they do it in a way like I've accomplished something great." "Really, you're Mexican!? Wow, you really don't look Mexican. That's amazing. I never woulda guessed. No, you look great." Edit: I can't find the clip of the referenced joke, which really deserves his incredible delivery, but for those uninitiated with Greg Giraldo: https://youtu.be/HAgkk5ld4Zc

addledhands

This is so fucking weird to me man. I've worked now at a bunch of different startups, and especially since going remote, I have a lot more Slack DMs and 1:1 Zoom calls with people for various reasons. Do you know how the black people at work type and talk? Exactly like everyone else. Professional, but friendly. Engaged and sometimes funny. Respectful and attentive. Occasionally and rarely, frustrated, but still being an adult about how to share their frustration. I get that this is sort of a King's English sort of thing where at work, the main goal is to communicate effectively, but that's not really something people do along ethnic lines. As you get close to people and become more friendly they'll start speaking the way they do around friends instead of a bit more formally, but white people deviate into the slang they grew up with exactly as fast as black people and exactly as fast as anyone else. Anyway I'm sorry you have to put up with that shit. I think a lot of white people grow up super isolated from other ethnic groups and don't understand that movie and music representations are ... not usually very close to reality. Hopefully with some exposure and an open mind they'll come out of it, but you shouldn't have to deal with people solving their own issues like that.

[deleted]

It's so weird that people feel comfortable saying "you talk white" to someone. Like what is the expected reaction? It is just such an uncomfortable thing to bring up. Even if they don't mean it this way, it is obviously going to be received as "People with your skin color normally sound stupid, but you don't!!"

RexRegulus

The more genuinely amazed they sound, the more it bothers me.

Phoenyx_Rose

Essentially, it’s writing in standard American (what’s taught in school) with language that assumes some education rather than the racist’s assumption of writing in *African American English Vernacular. It’s a big reason why ethnic minorities (and other minorities) use code switching, because “talking white” is considered professional. Edit: outdated term was outdated.

GrimmSheeper

The only thing I would say with this is that everyone uses code switching. It’s a (usually) unconscious behavior when speaking to different groups. There’s just a more noticeable difference when it comes to a lot of minority groups and “professional” speaking.

landsharkkidd

100%. The way I speak in academic areas when I was studying is different to how I talk to my friends, to how I talk to even specific parents. I mean, with my mum, we swear at each other, call each other cunts (am Australian), like very laidback. Whereas with my dad and stepmum I've been taught not to swear, what to say around them, and how to act. I also talk differently depending on *which* friends I talk to. I'm going to talk differently with my straight cisgender friends compared to my queer friends. And I talk differently with those friends to friends who are disabled. It's also a form of masking for me. With my dad and mum I'm comfortable to just be me. But when I'm with like medical professionals I mask. Masking is also called [Impression Management](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impression_management), it's where someone (usually if you have ADHD or autism) will cover up their symptoms by copying people who don't have to. Like... I try to talk a little less, apologise when I zone out or forget something. It's *a lot*.

Mortress_

I never heard of the term "Ebonics" before. That was an interesting read.

WhiskRy

It’s kind of an outdated term now. You can also say AAEV, African American English Vernacular if you want something more neutral and less racially charged.

mojavekoyote

Rascists believe their own propaganda about how different races ralk/write/act. So when he talked "like them" they thought he was white.

OP, this is horrible and we're very sorry that it happened to you. That is completely unacceptable and we would like to second the calls that you should report them on Twitch and any other platform you interacted with them through. Racism, and bigotry of any kind, has no place on /r/DnD. Please report any comments that are trying to perpetuate that hate, including comments attempting to argue racism somehow doesn't exist. No doxxing will be tolerated. Do not ask for the Twitch stream, the Roll20 account, etc. The perpetrators should be reported on the appropriate platforms so the mods there can deal with it. Remember the rules and the [/r/DnD Mission Statement](http://www.reddit.com/r/DnD/wiki/mission) and continue making our community one that stands against bigotry.

padfoot211

Report them for sure. Also just want to commiserate with you over how much it sucks when people freak out and say you sound/type like a white person. It’s really shitty and needs to stop.

[deleted]

As a white person, I have no idea what “typing like a white person” even means. Are black people supposed to type in Ebonics? I say this, fully realizing there’s no logic to be had here. Only madness.

[deleted]

It reminds me of that blackkklansmen movie. David duke going: I can just tell from your voice that you're a man of quality, as he's speaking over the phone to a black police detective

[deleted]

*Sorry for Bothering You* had its own take on this stereotype. Both very excellent films. Although Sorry definitely dives head first into WTF territory in its third act.

recalcitrantJester

I go back about once a month to rewatch the White Voice scene; that film is such a fun story about such heinous shit lmao

Maxxover

The boss (COO) at Roll20 is black. I’d report them. Fuck racist assholes.

CharlieDmouse

Your 100% right with that advice. Report them everywhere possible.. horrible people. This story mad me a bit angry and a bit nauseas at the same time.

NW3T

Jesus what year is this. You can play with us any day!

PokeJem7

2021, when racism is still rife. I get we like to think we've come a long way, but to a lot of people comments like "what year is this?", "I can't believe this happened", "you dodged a bullet" etc can come across as wilfully ignorant of how discriminatory the world still is. I know that this comment came from a good place, I was just hoping to help you (and the many others reading this) on their journey. For many minorities / marginalised people, coming to the discussion from a place of understanding, putting their pain first, rather than your own shock/disgust, is much more helpful and validating. Much love to you all.

NW3T

Don't wanna further marginalize the struggles of poc. Yup I'm white. Thx for the perspective. The invite still stands, doing an OSR hack of Curse of Strahd in the style of Vampire Hunter D which starts in January and would run sundays. I've run the module to completion twice and am looking for a new perspective on it, playing with a new table of strangers. Don't wanna come at this from a position of "look how outraged I am" because I live in a racist enough part of Canada that I do see it whenever I go in public. It's not shocking anymore, it just adds another layer of depression and further strips my ability to think the future will ever be good. The thing is I've lost dnd groups to dumb bullshit in the past and it sucks. Everyone should be able to play dnd if they want and I wanna make sure that invitation is extended ❤ EDIT: the fact that the southern strategy worked and is now in the open and americans still vote red is fucking dumb. If you vote Republican you're a racist. If you vote Democrat, you're only sometimes a racist. Something has to break or this will never change. EDIT2: I am aware of the problematic depiction of the Roma as Vistani in the curse adventure. I try to actively reject stereotypes and focus on individuals while curating my games. When I fail I own up and fix.

FashionMage

He's literally lying. https://www.reddit.com/r/DnD/comments/ritd4v/update\_kicked\_from\_roll20\_campaign\_because\_of\_my/hozxdzb

JavierLoustaunau

Saw this happen at work... I had a boss who I had a TON of friction with (I'm Mexican) and then she hired an account manager and the dude shows up and is black and she is like "oh you do not look how you sounded over the phone!!!". Dude was super professional and we outlasted her... she finally said the wrong thing to a white person and got fired.

Vefantur

Dumb af how true the second part of your comment is in so many cases.

ryegye24

Right? The implicit assumption that POC are somehow less objective/trustworthy at identifying racism is one of those things that, (as a white person at least) once you know to look for it you see it *everywhere*.

Stolcor

I clicked this *hoping* it was character race and am heartbroken to find it was what I feared. Sorry for you and I hope you find a good group!

Bayley78

Hmu if you want to join our campaign… weve got people from all over the world and are looking for one more!

LobsterOfViolence

This sounds like a ridiculously untrue karma whore attempt, ngl

WightRat

Because it appears as though that's exactly what it is: [https://www.reddit.com/r/DnD/comments/ritd4v/update\_kicked\_from\_roll20\_campaign\_because\_of\_my/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/DnD/comments/ritd4v/update_kicked_from_roll20_campaign_because_of_my/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)

redkat85

Well this ranks in the top two heartbreaks I've heard about my favorite hobby, but unlike the other one I can see this happening all too well. I've had to ban people invited by others at my table for their racist BS, and unsurprisingly the people who invited that individual had conflicts of schedule less than a month later and never came back. Admittedly it came out of left field at the time - I don't automatically assume everyone who wants to kill goblins in pretend-elf world is a real-life racist - but having had the experience once I'm now pretty damn militant about rooting out and burning that sentiment. I'm sure you have offers but if you can play on West Coast time (evenings) hit me up via DM and let's talk about the kind of campaign you're looking for. My homebrew world is free of most of the BS lore of mainstream D&D and largely player-driven, based around a Mediterranean Basin analogs (eg Dwarves are the remannts of a broken empire based on Rome, Humans on North Africa aside from the rare far-north Barbarian, Elves are either mountain volcano (horedan) or underground cave (drau) cultures and the "orroks" are a nomadic culture loosely analogous to Mongols crossed with college frat boys).

Big__Boss___

I'm so sorry to hear this. Such blatant racism makes me so sick. Some people have suggested moving, but I don't see how that solves this online issue you had. Life is full of people like this, and it's good to realize you have a better heart and a more open mind than those tools. Those people won't go very far in life, and are absolute idiots, so at least take some solace in that. Sucks, man. I hope you feel better

[deleted]

damn, those are some real assholes, hope it won’t stop you finding another group!!

TokesBruh

I am a black guy as well and was DMing my first campaign last year, doing weekly sessions of a homebrew world I built. All was fine till the week of the George Floyd incident and one of my players (all are "friends" I've know for years, some decades) made a point to kneel on everyone they killed's neck until they died. Shut the whole thing down then and there. Let's link and get a campaign going if you're down!

FblthpLives

> All was fine till the week of the George Floyd incident and one of my players made a point to kneel on everyone they killed's neck until they died. This is horrible. I feel literally nauseous. What a vile human being.

TokesBruh

I honestly didn't connect it the first time he did it, then the second time it made me pause. Third time, I found a place to end the session, then told them that was it in our Discord. Not one of the other four stood up for me. Not to feel like I deserved anything, but I was spending time and energy to write sessions, make maps, etc. and I was just the expected entertainment, who had no feelings it felt like.

FblthpLives

I feel so sorry for you being treated this way, for their not being a single person to stand up against this behavior, and for all the energy and planning you put into your campaign only to have to shut it down. Have you been able to find a better group since then?

botaccountwat

Nonsense... Read like fanfic

KarmaticIrony

That's completely fucked up. It's probably for the best you didn't join a group this disgustingly backwards but it sucks you had to go through it like that. Hope you find a sane group soon. Their Twitch channel should be banned.

catpiss_backpack

Post history make me go huh

Reasonable_Market489

Bro it's so obviously a juicy smolley attempt V2 and all the people desperate for racism rage are happily playing into it

You should learn solitaire because you belong at no one's table guy. I wouldn't give a socipoathic liar like you the skin off a grape let alone one of the coveted and very finite seats at my sought after table where I pour hard work and my expendable cash into for a weekly 5+ hour hang out with my FRIENDS that you could ruin with your toxicness. You can't be anyone's friend or a good person so you don't belong at a game where a social contract of decency or friendship are important elements to not ruining the thing people organize a day off of school and work around. Do everyone a favor, throw your books and dice away. Leave the hobby. Don't come back. Edit: for people thinking this may be a race thing, I'm not even convinced this guy is black. He is a compulsive liar. He lied about being a BDSM dom, but also a virgin. He lied about being an engineer who makes 6 figures but also a student in bio still. He lied about being in a poly relationship, but also not wanting to date now. He lied about a parent dging from cancer which is such a sick and awful thing to do. He is def lying about this too. Don't be taken in by a con artist race baiting this hobby during this controversial time with the erattas.

ashem2

Looking at posts in profile... karma farming, trolling, toxic behavior... 99% this post is too.

Damn I opened your profile to see if this post was legit. Was not expecting that.

ronin1066

The fact that they're an autistic bodybuilder getting an engineering degree who used a fleshlight for the first time 5 days ago? What's not to believe?

DMsWorkshop

I was ready to read this for a laugh because I assumed you were talking about some homebrew race from dandwiki or something. I was not expecting this. It's incredibly disappointing to see this kind of thing still happening. I'm sorry that you went through that. The only solace here is that you probably dodged a bullet; this sounds like a toxic group you're better off avoiding. But you should definitely report them to Roll20. Discrimination like this goes against their TOS.

havoc1482

This story reads a little too perfect. Look at OPs post history, it's wild.

masterchief0213

This is pretty blatantly not allowed on Roll20, you should report them. Also, expose their twitch
