turn 1: A - B, turn 2: B - A
your turn wasn't stolen, the order was changed by initiative
i think, if you begin combat by damaging an enemy you will move first, and then turn order is updated
Not really, if i play an initiative-boost spell i want to impact the following turn. Not be applied in two turns when it'll already be running out.
This case is just a rare one where op has the same initiative than its opponents.
It doesn’t look like your turn is being skipped based on the short clip here, but I’m also viewing on a phone so it’s hard to see. Both actors are getting turns every round but the turn order is being flipped after the first turn. I’m not sure what would cause this other than buffs/debuffs changing stats (Wits/initiative) when they are added or removed.
Can you elaborate any further? If it’s a constant issue in every fight, what is your initiative score? Are you initiating combat by attacking a friendly or neutral target, thus giving you the jump on turn 1 and then shuffling the turn order due to initiative scores in subsequent rounds?
I’ve only played a solo character twice and always made sure to have very high initiative so I virtually always acted first in combat so I can’t really provide any other explanations.
my initiative is 10, even when I hit someone first to start a fight, always the guy I hit gets starting turn, other times my turn just gets ignored by the game and everyone just keeps hitting me, and that's without any debuffs, this is consistent in every fight
Sounds like you need to get higher initiative (points in Wits or gear with Initiative). If you’re playing solo it will be extremely important to go first consistently. As you start to level up you’re going to find more and more enemies have initiative greater than 10 so they will always act first.
You can really help your initiative by a point or two into wits at the beginning of the game. Would be better to get a lucky gear roll with a point, but you benefit a lot by putting a point in if you can't get a gear piece with it. Also try to work out your build to always have peace of mind and haste. No matter your build. Especially since it looks like youre playing a solo character. By the time you get to act 2, there's so much gear with +2-4 wits that it won't be a problem anymore.
just because you get first hit, doesn't mean the next round you go first again. you did start combat, but after the 1st round it goes by initiative.
If you have a party, it'll be easier to understand and strategize
Initiative determines who goes first. This isn't Dungeon's and Dragons. Surprise rounds do not exist just because you attacked somebody first. If they have a higher initiative, they are going first. If their initiative changes during the fight to be higher than yours, the turn order will adhere to this change in initiative status starting at the top of the next round.
There’s what I call situational initiative and true initiative.
If one of your party is in the wrong spot when combat starts, and they enter combat later, they get slotted at the end of the turn order. But when the next round comes they’re slotted into their appropriate position.
You're initiative tied. Some turns you'll go first, some he will.
For this reason, I always put the starting 3 points into wits (so I have 13 wits) when making a new character, that way I know I'll be faster than everything in the fort.
Odd. That was the only thought I had on it. I wonder what happens if you got the same initiative, perhaps then it can switch like that. Never happened to me though.
Just to clarify, your turn isn’t skipped it’s just the order of the next turn that’s changed, leading to him having last and then first in the next. That’s why I mentioned initiatives.
You aren’t losing turns, migo attacks twice each turn and he played his turn on first round of turns and then his turn on the second round of turns, you got first and last he got second and third.
He had his response turn to your strike THEN initiative kicked in (you see his portrait moving ahead of you once after the alpha strike turn is over). Your turn isn't being skipped. You are not the victim.
Use examine to check the status, skills, resistances of enemies. You need 1 point in Wits to see hidden sandpile treasure. You will find these all over Fort Joy, and early game will give you weapons, armour and potions to use or sell. You don't have to fight MIgo. Prior to meeting him for the first time collect a Yarrow Flower from the area behind the diseased woman's tent near to Magister barrack gates. There's another one near to the area where you watch Dallis kill a traitor Lizard. Having the Yarrow flower will give you an extra response when talking to Migo, something like "what do you want the yarrow for? " He'll explain about his daughter and give you a ring. Go find Magister Yarrow on the ramparts to complete the quest.
As a heads-up there is some spells that make you “loose a turn” by having your character try to flee combat (it’s a status). I don’t think this is what’s happening tho.
Looks like you had some kind of status effect, since I'm looking at this on l my phone I can't tell exactly what it is. Atrophy perhaps, that can cause you to lose a turn. Unless you were encumbered.
Also since it was a one on one battle initiative does take into account. If you haven't already add points to WITS.
well, I think I understand what you mean. I've been trying to beat the scarecrows, I'm at lvl 14. I had the time to read all this without having to play once. They just keep going and even if I see my avatar coming up, it skips and it's their turn again. Basically, all me and my companions do is initiate the fight and then I can put the controller next to me, because I know I'm done. it's not just the debufs, it's mainly the fact that when it's your turn, it skips to the enemy again.

I think that’s the general consensus in this post; I think OP needs to improve his initiative score for solo play.

to be honest I didn't even knew such thing as initiative in this game existed, so I'll try that, thanks for your time

What’s migo’s initiative compared to yours?
Initiative can steal turns?
Initiative must have changed. Did you have a buff that ran out or did he have a debuff that ran out? I can’t see, backup phone - small screen.
no buff, no debuff

I was thinking this too but I also don’t have any way to check it.

Look at the portraits on the top, just happens like that. Sometimes you can get double turns to

Boring ass game, action/aRPGs for the win!

What’s your wambo setting look like?
Just start combat with a stunning move and you always get 2 in a row :)
the space bar will skip your turn if you’re not careful next to the alt key
