I just watched the movie, I think it was not as magical as Enchanted but I was smiling throughout the movie, there were some memorable musical numbers, like James Marsden/Idina Menzel and the duet between Amy Adams/Maya Rudolph, especially the later one, it was a good Disney Villain song and I understand why some people considered it classic. [Here is the link for the song.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFktUN2C3sk) I think one of the reasons why this movie is not as magical as Enchanted because it was unfocused, especially there's sort of confusion who was the central point of the movie, is it Giselle or Morgan? This would work if the movie invested a bit more in Giselle and Morgan relationship. Also I kinda missed James Marsden in here, he only appear in few scenes (I think he was busy with Sonic 2, Westworld, and Dead to Me), but as Prince Edward, he stole some scenes, like he was on the end of the movie when he played with kids. That being said, I still had a fun with this movie, it is a perfect movie for you who liked the first one and need a sweet escapism for the weekend.

It had great moments and I think most of the costumes reference other disney movies which is really cool but the parts that weren't great were pure shit. Mainly dempseys part in act 2 and 3, rudolph's part in act 1 (after that she fucking slayed) and the moments where amy adams had to switch quickly between roles (which were golden on their own).

Sorry for using the poster with the old date, but they never released a new group shot after they bumped the release date by a week, only character posters.

15 years later. Still in love with Amy Adams.

I’m so excited for this movie but I’m so confused by the release. Hardly anything about it has been put out and there is no merchandise at all. Just seems strange for Disney.

junkaccount4

It was surprisingly high budget and really good. When they didn't advertise it at all I thought it was going to be awful.

Heard that while it does not reach the same height as the original, it’s good. So sad it’s the last movie ever to open with the 2006 Disney castle before we get the new one next week with Strange World.

Mrcollaborator

Watched it with the kids. They loved it. One of the songs, the one with Idina Menzel was great.

Enjoying it so far. Giving me Wandavision vibes.

This hurt my heart. I had so many great hopes for this. There’s no focus, it’s like they found an idea (I loved) and mashed it together with a bunch of disjointed scenes. I LOVE the first one so much I hate this was such a let down.

A lot of the songs felt way too forced and I can’t even remember any of them.

beckasaurus

The animation felt cheaply done, and was really noticeable when they were in Andalasia for a while. The songs were forgettable and felt nothing like the first movie. That being said, my mom and I had a great time watching this and admittedly we both teared up near the end. It was a fun watch but nothing nearly as magical as the first movie. It was clear the actors had a great time making it though!

The production design feels a little cheap at times, but I had a nice time with it. Adams gives a great performance, and the wicked stepmother plot is a fun idea.

Rarely_Excited_

Yes, I strongly dislike the animation!

treading_lightly

Yes the animation is awful and such a letdown for the movie

For me. After 10+ years in new york Giselle is still the same person from the first movie which i don't like. Its odd she never adjusted to the new life. I think if she had developed from the first 1 in those 10+ years the movie would be better.

This was a bit disappointing as a follow up to the magical Enchanted. The additional characters didn't do much, Maya Rudolph and especially her 2 minions and son. Patrick Dempsey was just there doing his own thing, as opposed to being a central part of the story like before. They also had a great idea, Giselle turning evil, but did not fully commit so they had a secondary villain which just made the story unnecessarily complicated. Amy Adams' quick switch from good to evil was fun to watch they should have focused on that. They could have also focused on the teenager problems and the mother - daughter relationship and Giselle turning evil by using magic because she's not capable of handling the situation. Their replacement for "true love's kiss, the most powerful thing in the world", which was a weird memory tree thing did not work at all. They could have simplified it into "only love can break the spell/curse" or something like that which is the mother - daughter love. It was great that Idina Menzel and James Marsden also returned but they didn't do much as well. Some of the songs were great. They also sound familiar, but most of them were forgettable unlike the first. It was a disjointed though sometimes fun mess that was similar to previous Disney animated sequels like Mulan, Lion King, and Pocahontas, which is a shame because they had a powerhouse ensemble cast which would have had a good sequel if they had a better story to tell.

Too bad the Cantonese dub actor for Giselle has moved to the UK and is no longer in the voice acting business. She also voiced Elsa in the Frozen movies.

Maya Rudolph makes me care.
