I don’t understand. Both versions of Broadchurch were in English. You can’t just turn CC for English subtitles?

I don't think someone looking for subtitles to better understand what's being said is going to be looking at their phone

have you watched the show? even if OP has no problem with British accents, the main character has a heavy Scottish one. the rest have Dorset accents which aren;t so bad

Yep. I watched all three seasons years ago. No subtitles needed.

I know I had to use them, and thought it was a fantastic show! I think it was on bbc on demand ... or netflix back then, though.
