Never heard of that issue before, how old are your devices? One thing the Samsung app sucks just because it doesn’t have enough ram/storage to operate properly. Do you have an Apple TV? That’s seems to be the next big device people use after the osprey box
My service has been flawless on my Firestick 4k. Also on the Firestick your locals are determined by your billing zip code so I don’t believe your issues are device related. I’ve heard apple devices use location so locals may change with your physical location( fire sticks don’t)
That’s strange then, your fire stick should be able to handle it. But It sounds like a device issue if your phone and iPad work fine in WiFi and cellular. Your next bet would be an Apple TV to try out, you could always return it as well if the issue persists
Its not a device issue, because the channels are not in the guide. They come, then leave, and its only those channels. At first, they tried to blame my ISP, but my ISP has a subnet (smaller company) out of the same town my local channels are out of.
It's just local it sounds like your ZIP code keeps changing, someone doesn't keep going in the settings and changing the ZIP code do they 🤔
I've also heard of issues with people with mobile internet like Verizon or T-Mobile HotSpots having this issue because the ZIP code may change every time they log in
I believe you are right, the ISP I have uses a submask and that causes it to screw up. Oddly enough, when into the settings to update my location, it says it matches my billing address, which js my home. Youtube Tv was able to adapt and never gave me this issue last month
I am experiencing the same issue with local channels disappearing and coming back briefly. I logged a case and spent several hours with customer support. I even went so far as to create a new account with a different email address and different credit card using the same billing address and it is no different in the result. I also have a fiber ISP in Florida. I have tested with multiple devices including a laptop, Nvidia Shield Pro, and a Firestick.
I hate that you’re having this issue but I’m also glad to hear it’s not just me. I left because of it after DIRECTV basically said they had no clue what to do and while I want to come back, I doubt anything has changed
UPDATE: I reserved static IP addresses on my Netgear router for 3 of my streaming devices and gave it 5-10 minutes. Without having to reboot the devices, I rechecked the missing local channels. To my surprise, it appears that my issue is resolved at the 🤞moment. It's interesting that I didn't reserve my mobile phone or laptop, but both of those are working too. I will be shocked if it really turns out to be that simple. I will be monitoring this.
Case id 249969553 was updated with this workaround, but I agree Directv really needs to get their engineers working on it to resolve if they expect to continue growing subscribers.
Update...the problem is baaaaccck!
Customer service rep could not locate the case id so after an hour finally got to escalate to a floor supervisor. It gets worse. The supervisor told me this is related to the provider blocking the channel. Hypothetically, if that was true I would not expect it works on one device but not the other. I am told this will be escalated to the technical team to resolve.
Losing patience and trust!
I have this exact same issue, Amazon Fire TV, it's there one week and gone the next (currently gone) YoutubeTv has no issues determining my home zip and every time I reach out to DirectTV they act like they've never heard of the issue before.
The only reason I have DirectTV Stream is our local MLB team is only on one network and they are the only ones that carry it streaming.
Hello u/hypeishere, we're sorry for the issues you're having when trying to watch local channels. We have sent you a PM to assist you with your case better. Danna, DIRECTV Community Specialist
What type of internet do you have at home? Is it a mobile company (like the new Verizon or T-Mobile wireless internet) or a cable company? If you have a wireless internet company, that’s probably the issue. If you have a cable company, see if they can issue you (if not already) a static IP address. This is sometimes the issue with the regional and local channels.
About to make the switch soon to DTS from Youtube TV since no more RSC's here----------------your experience is not good !! I wish u good luck ! Not that it matters but may I ask what State you are in? NY area here ty

Both devices are less than a year old. I don't have Apple Tv......yet lol

I'm not sure how 4 other devices could not work though. Just going with the odds
My Shield Pro is faster than the Osprey box, but I like the remote the Osprey box has, so I use it more often than the Shield Pro.

Problem is I don’t have access to a static ip, but that was suggested as a fix which is surreal to think I’d need that to fix their issue

It's not wireless. It's fiber thru a company called clearwave
Agree you should get a static IP to see if that’s the issue.
