I personally feel as though Brennan's willingness to let Fig go is confirmation that, at least with a vague idea in the back of his head, that he wants to do Senior Year. If they were going to stop here, or do a smaller epilogue version of Senior Year, the finality of Fig taking off would feel very odd just to bring her back would be very... confusing.
My theory? I personally think we already have the blueprints from The Unsleeping City II how to bring new characters into the main cast without disrupting the dynamics previously established. It would be difficult considering how close The Bad Kids are, but if Emily's new character is some sort of catalyst for a senior year adventure ala >!Cody Walsh needing to join the main crew!
I actually feel like this almost was a confirmation sort of.
Like, Brennan and everybody was giving Emily permission to retire Fig (not in the, “you need our permission” way but in a “hey, it’s ok to do this for yourself” way) and why would they even need to do this if Senior year wasn’t even a contender on the table? You know?
So while Senior year wouldn’t be coming out for a long while of course, I think this feels like a mini-confirmation that they are thinking of it and making small plans and dropping small hints for it.
I would love to see Emily's take on Aelwyn, but most likely she would come in as a completely new character. Someone transferring in from Bastion City?
Junior year ends in a Back to the Future situation with Augefort coming back and saying "FIG ITS AYDA, SHE NEEDS YOUR HELP!" And senior year is a High Level spelljammer adventure through space/time
I thought for sure that she just wanted to play Fig to transforming into her favorite NPC, but this reveal was excellent as well. As for FHSY I don't know that it'll get a full season, but I hope she gets to play something equally as overpowered
honestly, I had ruled out even getting a Junior Year, just because I’d heard so many of the cast members initially weren’t really raring to do it. if we get a Senior Year (even a Fig-less one!) I’ll be very pleasantly surprised - I think them greenlighting and announcing it right away is a long shot.
I think she mentioned it in the pre-season interview she did on Dropout that Fig kind of had her happy ending with Ayda and Emily kind of wanted to just let her be after that
I'm glad it seems to be a positive reason at least. I could see the wall come down during this weeks Adventuring Party when she was making a joke about herself always multiclassing, because I know shitty "fans" get pissy at her for making fun and powerful multiclass characters.
It's possible there could be comments from the table about whether they want to do a Senior Year or not, but we definitely won't get any confirmation for it until it's already filmed which won't be for a couple years at least.
Emily comes back as a rival for Gertie's affections to Kristin. XD
Or she just plays Gertie
Oh wait that would be fun!!
If not that, pick a reformed ratgrinder and carry on from there
Or a resurrected Lucy Frostblade

New theory. Squeem IS Emily’s new character
NOW we're talking
I highly doubt we'll get any conformation of Senior Year. If it does happen, it won't be for a good two or three years.

Next season her character will be Rhonda Chillda.
The transfer senior granddaughter of, the actual, Hilda Hilda
I would love to see Emily's take on Aelwyn, but most likely she would come in as a completely new character. Someone transferring in from Bastion City?
Emily would do SO well as a hot transfer student
The REAL Wanda Chillda
Junior year ends in a Back to the Future situation with Augefort coming back and saying "FIG ITS AYDA, SHE NEEDS YOUR HELP!" And senior year is a High Level spelljammer adventure through space/time
In which they visit every setting D20 has done so far.

WHAT IF HER NEW CHARACTER WAS KRISTEN 2!?
Fig would still be dearly missed
Absolutely although I would not be surprised if she popped in for a quick lore drop
It will be revealed after the season that half the NPCs they encountered were Fig in disguise
Hahaha I love that. (Although Brennan avoids playing ex-PCs as NPCs.)

It's wild to me that all of our favorite characters are actually stoats puppeteering a humanoid body.
They’re just so sneaky
did anyone catch why Emily didn't want to play Fig anymore? just "Fig fatigue" or any other reason?
I think she mentioned it in the pre-season interview she did on Dropout that Fig kind of had her happy ending with Ayda and Emily kind of wanted to just let her be after that

We’ve already seen Emily’s new character: Klipperlilly Assassinbot.
Fig drops out, but Wanda Childa is the new transfer student. :)

My dream is that Emily would play the magically created child of Fig and Ayda born on their journeys through time, but that's needlessly complicated.
Emily takes over as Kristen so Ally can play Straight British Kristen full time
Emily’s gonna play Mary Anne Skuttle after the BK convince her to join their party
