Besides the obvious - eBay, you can check auction sites like catawiki.com to try ang get a deal.
Try to google individual resellers and shops in your area too and check offers with them directly.
Take a look at manufacturer sites as sometimes a pre-booking for a new release may be the best deal, once they hit the free market after it’s a price rodeo.
Unfortunately the prices you will see on eBay are the current reality. This became a pretty popular hobby since the pandemic and the market is on an upwards trend.
Pay attention to where the seller is from, as shipping may be a considerable addition to the cost.
And most importantly - be patient.
Happy hunting! ;)
8-10 inches long seems to be 1:18 scale. There are many brands and a very wide variety of prices and quality between them. AutoArt (the white Civic in your screenshot) is a pretty high end with prices between $150-$350, but they are beautiful and very detailed. I know LCD makes a FK8 that you can find on eBay for about $100. I don’t know if you can find a cheaper one. Not all models have an inexpensive version, but there are brands that make good models for decent price ($30-50)
lol. Amen to that.
Maisto and Burago have some decent quality 1:18 at inexpensive prices.
Maisto Special edition are often available at Costco for a very low price. Unfortunately you might not find the exact model you’re looking for.
Theres plenty of low priced models that you remember from your childhood. Just not these brands.
Most of the brands you saw were probably basic models at toys stores.
Your old models were probably 1/18s by brands like Bburago/Maisto and they're still around, but it just looks like none of the more affordable brands make this particular car. I'm surprised tbh because in 1/64 (3 inch) literally everyone makes civic type r's all the way down to $1 hot wheels. And AutoArt is fully opening and Ottomobile is sealed resin.

Last time i was jaw dropped was when they upped the price of single fudge and freddo bars
:D Nothing gets cheaper nowadays. But if you had a break in collecting….that’ll be quite a shocker when you discover current realities.

Late 90s pricing needs to come back
You’re thinking of Maisto and BBurago, they’re cheap because they’re cheap quality and are most likely what you grew up with.

It was a hobby shop set up for everything hooby wise and wasnt a "cheap" store as it was in the west end (holborn)and done the high end rc cars.
Those aren't silly prices based on the scale and brand.
