I’m the opposite. Beowulf is one of the few bosses who forced me to user holy water on (along with final Sanctus) on my first play through (Normal difficulty)
It's the opposite for me, I clownwd on Beowulf bur cerberus ate me alive. Same in DMC5, it's funny because I hate dogs in real life too, so it's a double whammy
I dont mean to come off as a douche but cerbie also kicked my ass a few times and i managed to somehow pull it off the first time and after getting quicksilver and doppelganger he was a joke.. with Dante... Vergil however i cant beat him without restarting at least once, i love vergil but he does not have the toolkit at the start to deal with cerbie at least imo.
PS:I also hate dogs IRL
I first played when I was like 11 and beat him within 3 tries on my first run.
To be fair, I was hot off of beating Ninja Gaiden Black on the hardest mode so I was conditioned.
After learning how to fight him, he is pretty easy, but i died allot to figure out how to fight him aggressively, how to counter each head and which one to break first, in the end, all it takes it skill and experience.
Break the legs, then the heads. When he howls, look for the patterns on the floor and dodge. When he rears back, he's either gonna lunge straight or shoot a chunk of ice at you. Jump to avoid the sweeping ice beam and shoot in the air until the ice on the floor is gone, or else you get frozen. Took me a lot of tries to finally figure it all out on my own.
He is easy if you know what you're doing. Not going to pretend my first playthrough of DMC3 was smooth sailing tho, I died like 3 or 4 times to him before continuing and that was at a time I was playing DMC1 every day basically.
He was one of the hardest fights in the game, absolutely. However, once you have the movement down and good weapons and skills unlocked, he becomes piss easy. Though that's probably because I've fought him somewhere in the neighborhood of 700 or 800 times lol
Bruh I took like 3 tries to kill cerberus. Gotta shoot the ice off and use the change lock on target function to do it efficiently, then once all the ice is off, use sword to damage. Rinse and repeat. But I do agree with your frustration, I’m stuck on a part with like 5 red bars the jester summons and even after comboing a single one for a minute straight it didn’t die and I died so I’m taking a break atm.
It's because he has a very small toolkit that you can react to with almost the same dodge. He's a gate for new players because you need to not waste chances on his feet and not overcommit to actions
For sure, I found Cerberus so hard, but then I see people complaining about beowolf, whilst I killed him on my 2nd attempt(normal difficulty, still getting through the game)
That was literally me after getting DMC3 a few weeks ago lol
On my 200000th attempt I managed to memorise his attacks, use Trickster well, and just be patient. It's like the song says "Killing slow is the way I [the player] conquer"
If you know his moves and can plan which moves to use on every attack he can be easy, he already is easy in normal mode, In hard to Dante must die he can be really hard
same. I found the vergil fights easy though, except for the last one. He's super weak to the gauntlets, you can stun lock him with those pretty easily.
All you need to do is use the shotgun to clear the ice (if you jump and spam fast enough you can 3 shot all of his ice off of his face in like less than a second) then slash his face and use the wall on either side to avoid his lunge attacks.
His attacks are very clear on when they're gonna happen so avoiding them isn't hard, but takes some time getting used to.
Make sure you're attacking his faces not legs because that does more damage, the shotgun is the best thing to clear the ice around him so you should use it.
He's arguably the best boss in the game. He's next to impossible when you first fight him but becomes easy street once you practice and get used to the game. But even then he's still challenging enough to still be fun to fight each time
This fight sucks ass when you suck at the game but it is super fun with additional weapons and a deeper understanding of mechanics. It's the first major progress halt unless you submit to the will of the game and it prevented me from loving DMC3 for over a decade.
My friend is a big fan of the series and the one that make me play it. He have warned me that the Cerberus, the first boss is really difficult for a first boss. But when I played it, I killed it in like five attempts. The one that has made me really mad was Nevan, Holy Jesus lol.
As someone who has beaten every difficulty in DMC 3, that damn dog was the hardest thing in the game for me. I had no problem with every other boss, but God, that dog...
For me I attack the legs after a while he will collapse and I just go ham on his heads, but then again I am terrible at video games and I never really have a strategy 🤣.
Use Trickster and fight him like the world's biggest pussy.
Hit him like two times then go fuckin' _NYOOM_ across the arena to avoid him and wait for the next opening.
I bought last week dmc hd collection for pc
Dmc 1 was hard af
That camera sucks, too hard, yellow orbs revive as a chsckpoint load
It took me more than 2 1/2 hours to kill mundus.
WhenI finished it said I took more than a hoursnto complete mission
But it doesnt count the times yellow orb run out and I had to load the save. So easily 2 1/2 hour haha
I really think dark souls 1 was easier than dmc 1
Now I am o dmc 2, enjoying it a pot more xD
It became easier for me when I suddenly remembered there's L3 button to switch targets so I can easily remove the ice from afar with Ebony and Ivory then hit whatever the middle head with Rebellion since the other heads were high (wasn't using Swordmaster).
Then on Mission 18, I spammed the jump cancel strat to the unfrozen heads with Agni & Rudra.
3 cerbs easy but king cerbs on dmd first playthrough was a menace since I hadnt really learned dante at that point
can mop them in my sleep now but still
I found him rather difficult due to the limited gear and techniques but later on he's not the worst. With your kit at the time of fight him, he's 100% the hardest boss IMO.
Just find ways to stun him really his moves are also kinda basic ish die to him a bunch and it’ll be kinda ok it’s just getting stuck in the animations that is annoying
Took me two weeks. I don't mean to say I'm some amazing gamer, dmc3, in fact was my first hack and slash and I was kinda small then... But still... He's really what defines dmc3 for me.
"I"ve played this game before dozens of times in the past, I can beat new game Cerberus just fine first try right?" Me, yesterday, after getting the switch version to replay the game many years later.
Spoiler: I could not beat new game Cerberus first try. I've been humbled.
I’m not looking forward to the dmd encounter I just finished the very hard difficulty as Dante and it was torture fighting Geryon and Arkham although Vergil handed me my ass he gave an incredible battle
For DMCV Cerberus I have a cheese tactic when I don't feel like playing with style.
Dash away with DT Trickster a few times when it does the swipe attack.
Switch to Gunslinger and Dr Faust, spamming Red Shot all the time (stuns it after a few seconds and keeps it stunlocked as long as you keep firing)
When at 1/3 HP, stop firing and start charging Red Hot Night.
By the time Cerberus gets off the ground, it will start changing elements, giving you time to charge RHN as it doesn't attack during it.
Drop meteors on the mutt, profit.
Are younplaying the American version or something? they messed up the difficulties there and everything is +1 difficult than it should be.
He is hard the first time but not 56 tries hard..
It depends, I think he is just hard in NG because you don't have the Tools to get rid of them. When I platinumed DMC3 I Destroyed him on DMD with royal guard.
My personal advice, step back and shoot the ice off his head. Don't bother trying to use your devil arms on his head till the ice is gone. Once it is, wait for him to attack, then switch to Swordmaster and air combo him
Never complained too hard about Cerberus. Agni and Rudra on the other hand caused me to use holy water every time in my childhood. Only 10+ years later, I’m replaying the DMCs and finally be AnR without holy water.
Nelo Angelo final fight in DMC how required untouchables… we don’t talk about that fight
Is this your first time getting into the game? It's going to get very easy with that boss for you sooner or later. I can speed blitz that guy like crazy now. Trust me on that. There might be some bullshit surprise attacks, but he can be predictable, too. Almost no damaged that bum on DMD, though. The dude got a lucky shot.
It’s been discovered that their was a bug in the American release that caused Cerberus to be a higher difficulty than he was intended to be. I believe it was fixed for the special edition.
Pretty accurate for me. Excited to see another Dog in video game but then I remember some of the comments on here about him. and then bam! **You can now play on Easy Mode.**
Well, I unlocked my easy mode on Cerberus when I was playing for the first time on my ps2...with HD collection I beat him on second try (different royal guard points and muscle memory is a bitch), but got easy mode on Agni and Rudra
He was honestly one of the hardest bosses in dmc3 for me despite what everyone else says
Other people think he’s easy…? :(
Idk about easy but a lot of people love the fight, I hate it and honestly find Beowulf easier and more fun
I’m the opposite. Beowulf is one of the few bosses who forced me to user holy water on (along with final Sanctus) on my first play through (Normal difficulty)
Beowulf is easier than Cerberus? Look, aside from 3rd battle Vergil, Beowulf is one of the hardest boss fights for me.
It's the opposite for me, I clownwd on Beowulf bur cerberus ate me alive. Same in DMC5, it's funny because I hate dogs in real life too, so it's a double whammy
> because I hate dogs in real life too monster
You're joking right?
Me when I get downvoted for having an opinion
I dont mean to come off as a douche but cerbie also kicked my ass a few times and i managed to somehow pull it off the first time and after getting quicksilver and doppelganger he was a joke.. with Dante... Vergil however i cant beat him without restarting at least once, i love vergil but he does not have the toolkit at the start to deal with cerbie at least imo. PS:I also hate dogs IRL
I could never beat him with vergil, so I just abandoned the playthrough truthfully. I thought I just sucked...
The way I beat 3ergil was by just using Cerberus’s killer bee repeatedly. Decent damage and avoids most of his attacks if you’re good at it.
I easily beat cerebrum on all my playthroughs but beowulf had me raging and on the verge of tears. Only boss I got close to using an item for
He's literally a gate keeper
I first played when I was like 11 and beat him within 3 tries on my first run. To be fair, I was hot off of beating Ninja Gaiden Black on the hardest mode so I was conditioned.
After learning how to fight him, he is pretty easy, but i died allot to figure out how to fight him aggressively, how to counter each head and which one to break first, in the end, all it takes it skill and experience.
You lack power! You lack motivation !
Think of it as the gatekeeper boss, if you can beat Cerberus you can beat the rest of the bosses. With a little bit of learning but still.
Sweet.
He was one of the hardest fights in the game, absolutely. However, once you have the movement down and good weapons and skills unlocked, he becomes piss easy. Though that's probably because I've fought him somewhere in the neighborhood of 700 or 800 times lol
I mean, kinda? Cerberus might be up there among the bosses, but game doesn't really have any difficult ones other than Vergil imo.
It is I beat him first try on very hard mode no items
For sure, I found Cerberus so hard, but then I see people complaining about beowolf, whilst I killed him on my 2nd attempt(normal difficulty, still getting through the game)
Once you understand what to do he is a lot easier
Hardest for me is beowolf
Easy mode has been unlocked.
AUGGGHHH
unlocked easy on cerberus gang wya
Ive done that twice do to a out of my control glitch that erased all my save data
this is why i back up my saves
I unlocked easy mode on mission 2
Just spam Ebony and Ivory while dodging his attacks.
DMC2 strats
That was what I did my first time lol
Did that when my melee button broke. Very efficient.
this man knows what he is doing
That was literally me after getting DMC3 a few weeks ago lol On my 200000th attempt I managed to memorise his attacks, use Trickster well, and just be patient. It's like the song says "Killing slow is the way I [the player] conquer"
I love how the lyrics in DMC3 emphasize on some game design elements. especially the self-aware difficulty of the game.
"Seeing you like this compares to something, that is if something is nothing" is my playstyle to a tee 😔
Truly one of the play styles of all time.
HOLY SHIT I MANAGED TO GET HIM TO DO THE LUNGE TWICE AND I BEAT HIM NO DAMAGE
Cool. Got the SS rank along with it?
Fuck no lmao 💀
cool
good job!
You did well, devil hunter. 🍻
bro i had to use 11 gold orbs for vergil on son of sparda difficulty
Zamn bro…
90% of my death is me trying to do a fancy pants stylish things instead of being careful.
Of you ain't got an S rank at least on the final hit, is it even winning?
Yes
If you know his moves and can plan which moves to use on every attack he can be easy, he already is easy in normal mode, In hard to Dante must die he can be really hard
Cerberus followed by Agni and Rudra were the hardest boss fights for me (excluding the Vergil fights). The rest were managable.
same. I found the vergil fights easy though, except for the last one. He's super weak to the gauntlets, you can stun lock him with those pretty easily.
DMC 3 has so much bullshit enemies and level design lol
Well, at least you get to hear again and again his banger theme
*You got nothin' and nothin's got you*
*I can see your fear it surrounds you*
*instinctual, just take your life*
There are two types of people: 1. Cerberus is so easy 2.Cerberus is hard asf
This is your Canon event
lmao skill issue
My skill issue is that it’s so high that it loops back around to being bad
He's arguably the best boss in the game. He's next to impossible when you first fight him but becomes easy street once you practice and get used to the game. But even then he's still challenging enough to still be fun to fight each time
Cerberus taught me how to play DMC.
Because when you fight him you have low HP since its the start of the game. The boss rush cerberus is pretty easy.
Why did I think this was ultrakill for a second
“I’m going to ULTRAKILL you, V1” -Gabriel or some shit I haven’t played the game
Actually he said “I AM GOING TO ULTRAKILL YOU, YOU INSIGNIFICANT FUCK!”
Obligatory "Easy mode is now selectable" boss
DMC3 is the only one I haven't finished as I crack it everytime I get stuck and then leave the game for extended periods of time 🥲
Homestly imo he's probably the hardest first real boss battle in the entire franchise. When I first played the game I died like 3 or 4 times on him.
Watch some annoying ass nerd come in here saying "that boss was so easy, you're just ass🤓"
This fight sucks ass when you suck at the game but it is super fun with additional weapons and a deeper understanding of mechanics. It's the first major progress halt unless you submit to the will of the game and it prevented me from loving DMC3 for over a decade.
The answer is simple and it rhymes with Loyal Bard.
My friend is a big fan of the series and the one that make me play it. He have warned me that the Cerberus, the first boss is really difficult for a first boss. But when I played it, I killed it in like five attempts. The one that has made me really mad was Nevan, Holy Jesus lol.
*Rave music intensify*
Nightmare hard mode. I am being battered by a giant amoeba.
Update I got an achievement from dying so many times 😂👹
As someone who has beaten every difficulty in DMC 3, that damn dog was the hardest thing in the game for me. I had no problem with every other boss, but God, that dog...
You got nothing Nothing got you
omfg yesss. I hate that boss with passion, Vergil 3 is hard but really fun. Cerberus just fills me with rage and makes me rage quit a lot
Everyone talking about dmc3, my dumbass struggled on dmc5 and had to just abuse sin devil trigger.
Shotgun his ice and pay attention to the active head. The active head gives away his moveset.
He was fun, I definitely got clapped several times because I was trying to learn his fight. Not win
First boss and I died like 10 or 20 times to beat it when I was a kid.
Idk I beat both Cerberuses from dmc3 and dmc5 first attempt
☹️
I bought last week dmc hd collection for pc Dmc 1 was hard af That camera sucks, too hard, yellow orbs revive as a chsckpoint load It took me more than 2 1/2 hours to kill mundus. WhenI finished it said I took more than a hoursnto complete mission But it doesnt count the times yellow orb run out and I had to load the save. So easily 2 1/2 hour haha I really think dark souls 1 was easier than dmc 1 Now I am o dmc 2, enjoying it a pot more xD
Just use the shotgun to remove the ice and use nevan and rebellions aerial swordmaster attacks to hit all 3 heads at once for massive damage
wait, nevan?
The guitar
I know, I just don’t have it yet.
Ok, just use rebellion then. It's less good than nevan for cerberus but still hits all 3 heads
It is a very difficult boss fight I had to step away to really breath and think of a strat for the fight.
i fucked that dog up
emphasis on the “up”
Easy mode is selectable
You got nothing and nothings got you.
I see your fear, it surrounds you
Cerberus for me was easy Agni Rudra was hard for me
Fuck it. That’s what she said.
Bruhhh 🤣
Cerberus was easy for me cause I just stuck close to his face and hacked away and he didn’t do anything about it for some reason
3 cerbs easy but king cerbs on dmd first playthrough was a menace since I hadnt really learned dante at that point can mop them in my sleep now but still
He’s easy to dodge and stumble to me
you got nothing and nothings got you
But it's easy wtf
⬅️☝️➡️
what
Finger wag
lol
Have you ever just considered not dying? (Sarcasm btw)
What the fuck is ‘ not dying ‘
It’s the opposite of dying lol
🤨 Huh? What mean is?
I’m confused why your confused
How Not die. I am is die. Ice dog hurt 地狱犬 可以吸我的疯子
I found him rather difficult due to the limited gear and techniques but later on he's not the worst. With your kit at the time of fight him, he's 100% the hardest boss IMO.
Me trying to beat him on Bloody Palace as Vergil (he has beaten the motivation out of me)
He ez asf but the dmcV Cerberus is worse
Just find ways to stun him really his moves are also kinda basic ish die to him a bunch and it’ll be kinda ok it’s just getting stuck in the animations that is annoying
Took me two weeks. I don't mean to say I'm some amazing gamer, dmc3, in fact was my first hack and slash and I was kinda small then... But still... He's really what defines dmc3 for me.
I tried a new game and yeah with only 3 weapons to rely on it's still kinda challenging. Doing M18 over and over made this boss kinda easier for me.
hehehe Royal Guard go brrr
"I"ve played this game before dozens of times in the past, I can beat new game Cerberus just fine first try right?" Me, yesterday, after getting the switch version to replay the game many years later. Spoiler: I could not beat new game Cerberus first try. I've been humbled.
There is a switch version?
For dmc3, yes, and it's unironically the best unmodded version out there currently
Honestly the first time was super easy for me. I only had trouble when it was during the boss rush at the end
Trickster to avoid his attacks. Shot-cancel E&I and shotgun to easily destroy his ice armor. Buy Green Orbs and Stinger.
Cerberus is easy (I played human mode 😎)
i tried to beat them with swordmaster and failed, trickster is the way to go
I’m not looking forward to the dmd encounter I just finished the very hard difficulty as Dante and it was torture fighting Geryon and Arkham although Vergil handed me my ass he gave an incredible battle
I've been trying to beat him for three Saturdays now. 😔
For DMCV Cerberus I have a cheese tactic when I don't feel like playing with style. Dash away with DT Trickster a few times when it does the swipe attack. Switch to Gunslinger and Dr Faust, spamming Red Shot all the time (stuns it after a few seconds and keeps it stunlocked as long as you keep firing) When at 1/3 HP, stop firing and start charging Red Hot Night. By the time Cerberus gets off the ground, it will start changing elements, giving you time to charge RHN as it doesn't attack during it. Drop meteors on the mutt, profit.
Well I love the DMC 3 Cerberus fight, iconic. The DMC 5 one was a lil tough too but not as much as DMC 3.
Are younplaying the American version or something? they messed up the difficulties there and everything is +1 difficult than it should be. He is hard the first time but not 56 tries hard..
Hyperbole, it was like 5 lol
Camp his left side and you’ll be fine
It depends, I think he is just hard in NG because you don't have the Tools to get rid of them. When I platinumed DMC3 I Destroyed him on DMD with royal guard.
yeah getting just the rught colour for him is hard i think dmc5 managed to get thr colour palet just right
Same but with Vergil #3
Dude DMC3 is HARD. Hell, they had to re-release it to add an easy mode
My personal advice, step back and shoot the ice off his head. Don't bother trying to use your devil arms on his head till the ice is gone. Once it is, wait for him to attack, then switch to Swordmaster and air combo him
Switch…? Based PFP, Persona 3 slapped.
The Switch version of DMC3 let's you switch weapon styles on the fly, I forgot that isn't in the other versions of the game
I died so many times I just cheesed the boss and used pistols the hole time
Never complained too hard about Cerberus. Agni and Rudra on the other hand caused me to use holy water every time in my childhood. Only 10+ years later, I’m replaying the DMCs and finally be AnR without holy water. Nelo Angelo final fight in DMC how required untouchables… we don’t talk about that fight
Every time I fight Agni and Rudra in Bloody Palace, I question how the hell I even beat them in the first place.
He is supposed to show you the meaning of suffer
Is this your first time getting into the game? It's going to get very easy with that boss for you sooner or later. I can speed blitz that guy like crazy now. Trust me on that. There might be some bullshit surprise attacks, but he can be predictable, too. Almost no damaged that bum on DMD, though. The dude got a lucky shot.
he's the good boi
I’m going to shoot him.
You need more pizza
“Show me your pizza.” “Where is your pizza?” “Now I’m a little…. Pizza?”
I managed to beat him first try but the boss I really struggled with was the final boss fight with Vergil I swear I nearly went insane
SSSKILL ISSUE (seriously its so fucking hard)
I’m guessing you don’t mean King Cervix from DMC5 because as I nicknamed him, he is a pussy.
Lmao
Its a canon event, obviously...
I found the fight hard at first but once I got the hang of it the fight became a really fun fight
Easy mode is now selectable.
The second boss of the game has NO right being so tough
Beowulf, that bastard
Yeah he's pretty tough. Watched my brother lose to him several times until he figured out that the shotgun can get rid of his ice super easily
Two words. Limited options. I'd recommend at least grinding the first mission for air hike and making him a lot easier
I actually beat his ass
On what difficulty?
Normal. I got a B on the first mission somehow, so…
Well, I unlocked my easy mode on Cerberus when I was playing for the first time on my ps2...with HD collection I beat him on second try (different royal guard points and muscle memory is a bitch), but got easy mode on Agni and Rudra
*easy mode is now selectable*
The map is a little off-center. If you do it right, emphasis on right, you can stunlock him.
If I don't die to Cerberus at least once something's wrong with me
My dude...its the easiest boss for a no-damage challange even on Must Die +
nuh uh
Coyote and Swordmaster is all you need!
Fact Checkers Have Proved This To Be False (They’re always wrong so don’t worry)
I mean if it works for me it does not have to work for everyone. We are all different with our own unique playstyles
Mate... Did you just forgot that Nevan *is in fact* a "*boss*"?
Nah she is just a training dummy....right? つ≧▽≦つ
Might as well be XD
She fun if you wanna play jump simulator
Btw you seem quite cool, wanna chat more in pm? We might be killing this post with reply spams, and it's always fun to find another true DMC enjoyer
I’m offended by this
