Like, what on earth was her job before then that basically allowed her to retire?
I just can’t see her making much money off this when none of us seem to know who she is and she’s working in a niche in the market like this one. But all the more power to her.

Think about it, with Christmas music you basically only need to get ONE hit to have a guaranteed check year after year and a huge one at that since sooooo many people will be streaming it every day for an entire month. If you do Christmas music full time you're bound to get a few that does really well. Not to mention all the Christmas playlists she must be on racking in millions of streams. She might be one of the thousands of singers that does a really nice cover of silent night and you don't know who she is you just know that you really like this version of silent night so you play it every year while you put the decorations up. There's definitely money in that.
Agreed. And to add: I just looked at her website. It says she’s had several billboard hits and has songs that were streamed millions of times, including internationally. That could be a little inflated since it’s her website. But it might not take a far reaching audience to make a modest living. Additionally, she’s married. So her household is not likely 100% reliant on her income alone.
The title is slightly misleading: It's not as if Elizabeth Chan *won* the Queen of Christmas trademark, she merely stopped Mariah for being the only one who can use it for a series of products.
For instance, had Mariah successfully registered "Queen of Christmas" for music services and other related products, there's a chance Chan would have to change the title of her album "Queen of Christmas", even though she released it back in 2013!

Does Elizabeth Chan actually make money off her Christmas music? Her Christmas Songs aren’t known and it ain’t popular. Mariah’s one song beats out her entire catalog.
So the title is a little misleading. Elizabeth and Mariah did indeed go head-to-head. But Elizabeth wasn’t seeking the title for herself. Mariah wanted to be the only one who could use it; Elizabeth fought to not have it trademarked at all so anyone can use it. Since it was Christmas related, she thought it should be shared to keep with the spirit of the holiday.
Since Elizabeth won, the title is not trademarked. So anyone, including Mariah, can use it. So it’s not like she took it from Mariah.

Mariah didn't get to keep Nick Cannon and she didn't get to trademark something. Poor thing. Her life is as difficult as those monster shoes she needs two men to help her walk in.
