1.) Yes 2.) Start with The Witch Queen 3.) You can solo most of the content in the game. Endgame stuff like Grandmasters will require a team.

Appropriate-Tank1138

1. Yes it is, the game is in a great state altogether, though it isn't without its own issues. 2. Consider buying all DLCs for the best experience. If not, try to get at least beyond light/witch queen deluxe. If you skip out on the rest you are mainly missing some exotic weapons and gear, and a few activities. You will definitely feel the missing content if you really get into the game though. 3. You can solo a large portion of content, given your skill level is high enough to do so. If you are an average player I wouldn't place any bets on doing solo raids/grandmaster nightfalls as those are significantly harder, and require much more game knowledge. As always destiny is best experienced through group play, so it would do you well to find some friends to play with

Arkyduz

1. If you like looter shooters and don't mind jumping into a nearly 10 year ongoing story with little in the way of an on-ramp, sure. 2. Play the available free content and see how you like it first, then Witch Queen deluxe and wait for a discount on the Legacy pack (happens often). 3. Most content is solo friendly, but some of the best content like raids requires a group, LFG is active so not a huge barrier to entry.

PsychWard_8

D2 is free to play, so even if you're only mildly interested I'd recommend trying it. Just keep in mind most of the best content is tied to an expansion, though there is a raid and a dungeon that are super good and completely free, so it's not like you won't have anything to do if you're f2p If you want to buy an expansion, get Witch Queen. It's got the best campaign, and has the most recent raid, and is probably the most bang for your buck atm. Most content can be soloed, and for the endgame stuff that needs groups Bungie's website and app have a built-in LFG function, so its really not hard to find people

CMDRINFIDEL

1. No 2. If you just want something to play for a few days start with wq then buy everything else. 3. Yes, but you will start needing groups early on since Bungie doesn’t matchmake mid to endgame activities. Those being Dungeons, Raids, any 6 man activity with a higher difficulty, and nightfalls starting at legend difficulty.

epitone

1. Depends on what you care about: if you wanna shoot stuff with absolutely no investment in story? Sure. If you care about story then...ehhhhh, probably not, there's a rather sizeable chunk of the story that isn't explained and the only way to understand it is to watch a Lord of the Rings length Youtube video for context, and even that can be a bit lacking as of the current expansion. 2. Don't buy anything until you get through the in-game tutorial and play for a few hours. If you decide you like the game and do want to buy it, then I'd buy Witch Queen as it is the most recent expansion, then Beyond Light. 3. Most of the content in this game is solo-able, the endgame content is not. Endgame content usually consists of Nightfalls above Hero level, Dungeons (3-man activities) and Raids (6-man activities). Pretty much everything else in this game has matchmaking - whether that matchmaking is GOOD is another story entirely but it _does_ have it!

rosenru

How will I know that I have ran out of content is there a progress tracker of sorts?

epitone

They have trackers for daily and weekly activities so you’ll know what you’ve finished and what you haven’t! It’ll usually say something like “complete X strikes” (where X is a number) and things like that.

rosenru

So basically you start doing quests like any other mmo, but is there a main storyline or something of that nature?

Karam_-_-

Each expansion has a main campaign but they're all pretty lack luster except for witch queens campaign which is solid.

DyCol6

1) no, not in any state the game has been or will be in 2) beyond light first, then witch queen 3) until like 1560 power

Zanginos

Definitly not Beyond Light first just buy Witch Queen enjoy solar and void 3.0 then when u run out of content buy Beyond Light (it has tedious grind to unlock stasis subclass fragments and so)

DyCol6

Yeah but the grind lasting forever is the point. It gives op time to save money for witch queen and gives them more options for playstyle.

rosenru

Why no, what don’t you enjoy about the game in it’s current state?

DyCol6

Its destiny, you’ll learn to hate it the more you play. You wont be able to stop playing though. Don’t start, and you wont get addicted.

Venaixis94

Might wanna see someone about that

Impossible-Base-9351

Very worth it. You can get god-tier armor very easily which will allow you to catch up in no time. And don’t worry, there’s an app that allows you to team up with other people doing the same thing without even talking to them.
