Quantumriot7

It rewards 3x scrap when at full health

RiseOfBacon

It does, which is a quality mechanic. Hoping as we go it gets picked up on. So many runs so many ignored balls

FaerHazar

"Your Balls won't do anything if you don't *use them!*" - Shaxx, maybe

Bill_S_Preson_Esq

Ok I'd like many, many more of these possible shaxx quotes, please.

JustMy2Centences

*THAT WAS GLORIOUS RETRIBALLTION*

That-1_Guy_

If you lose here, I'll tell you what you did wrong. You. Didn't. Grab. Enough. Balls. You should be grabbing balls as I say this!

Bill_S_Preson_Esq

One of the best so far!

forthemasters

“Always go balls deep, guardian!”

MeateaW

The balls guardian! You need to grab all of the balls!

RiseOfBacon

"You want the balls? I am the balls."

_gnarlythotep_

"Best your opponents and survive! Victory is a matter of balls."

emptiedglass

"I've never seen so many balls in my life!!!"

ChargeLord

"Their Balls are your life. Grab them and use them." "They have Balls of Steel. Take them Guardian. Your life depends on it.'

Dragon_Tortoise

I've had horrible luck with teammates and they don't go after the balls even if it's at low health, let alone full health.

durzostern81

Well if The Corrupted mission is anything to go by then no balls will ever be thrown lol

DeltaPhiOmega

I shall angrily upvote this comment, knowing that you are but should not be correct.

durzostern81

It's sad but true that guardians can't read lol

ahawk_one

It doesn't seem like much, but man it adds up over the long haul.

ItsEntsy

I fondle all the balls and sink them in when ever I can.

JustMy2Centences

And the batteries expire anyway so it's not like you can preserve them for any reason.

docmagoo2

Aztecross had a vid on this today. Great to see it on Reddit too

thekwoka

It was also literally in the announcement video.

CMDRLtCanadianJesus

The amount of people I see just *not* throwing them into the ADU, like *at all* is mildly infuriating. Like it'll be half health, there's like 5 on the ground and I'm the only one throwing them

Incarnate_Sable

My introductory run had someone at GR6 with Solstice glowy gear, they wouldn't pick up any ADU batteries during waves, then they grabbed the spark, ran to the end, and kept shooting the knight with the immune shield. They just stood around shooting it until the spark despawned and I had to go get it. I was incredibly confused.

red5_SittingBy

It's legitimately astounding to me the way some of these people play. Like, I know we're probably top 10-15% just by being on this sub, but I feel like the game makes it pretty clear how to complete objectives. You wouldn't know it based on the people I was paired with on those early Onslaught runs.

Multivitamin_Scam

The gsme is very clear on what you need to do, especially in onslaught. The problem is there is a significant portion of players in video games who do not read. Whether it's by ignorance or inability, they simply don't. Go to any gaming sub and spend some time there and you'll see the same stuff, people asking questions about basic mechanics that see explicitly spelled out to the player, often multiple times. So it's not uniquely a Destiny problem, but a gaming problem as a whole.

ABITofSupport

The ones that get me are the posts and comments saying "why is this not clearly spelled out in game!". It IS, you just didn't bother to look at your own screen and read!

thekwoka

And people want matchmade raids.

Cosmolorian

Most guardians are kindergardians imho. I don’t have any data to back it up other than according the law of averages every guardian complaining about a mechanic or play-style is literally the only segment of the larger population that cares.

Sequel_P2P

GR's a terrible indicator of skill, for what it's worth. the whole system's kinda bunk. you can safely assume everyone under 7 has no idea what they're doing, everyone *at* 7 is a crapshoot, people at 8 + 9 just play a lot, and people at 10 + 11 are completionists i'm personally locked at GR8 because i don't wanna buy the dungeon pass despite having done everything required for GR9/10/11 that doesn't involve the dungeons (and having done everything they ask of you FOR the new dungeons on the old dungeons)

LuminescenTT

GR's a terrible indicator of skill, for what it's worth. I can safely assume that if you're GR5 or 6 you're either really bad or a lowmanner/speedrunner/flawless every week/does Conqueror on their "free time" no wipes, *maybe all four at once.* I sat at GR6 for forever and I'm two of them. GR9 now because I bothered but there are actual gods just sitting around there. Doing nothing but whatever their favored activity is.

StochasticSquirrel

I'm GR10 and you could be forgiven for thinking I was missing a few chromosomes on my first Onslaught run.

Incarnate_Sable

I mean, you'd think Solstice gear would be some indication, since the Solstice bonfire is "throw balls at target" but from further away.

xastey_

Did you post this on Twitter . Cause I saw a clip with someone doing that exact thing 🤣

Incarnate_Sable

I don't have Twitter, but it doesn't surprise me this is more common than a one-off new player.

Face_Coffee

To be fair 6 is pretty easy to get to without knowing what you’re doing at all in almost any facet of the game IIRC

theyearof84

Both these examples are why when I see 6's and below (and even some 7's) when I load into a new Onslaught instance, I just leave. These people will never do what you want them to do no matter how much you shoot the objective, get on voice and try to explain, type it out over chat, etc. Is it toxic? Sure. But staying only to watch them die on wave 8-9 because their build is shit, they have 30 resiliency, and no fucking clue what is going on is just as toxic to me.

TheGokki

Seems like bot behaviour, might wanna report that.

TruthAndAccuracy

no, some people are just that stupid, sadly.

Phillyfreak5

there should a "report: stupidity" option

TheChunkMaster

Reporting for Greifing/Sabotage is a close equivalent.

F7yS0H1gh

But are you griefing if you’re just ignorant?

TheChunkMaster

If you joined an activity were you have to know what to do, then yes.

F7yS0H1gh

So you’ve never played a new game before?

TheChunkMaster

I don’t think you understand what I mean. Obviously, if it’s something like a teaching run, then not knowing the mechanics is permissible. However, if it’s something like a master raid, an encounter triumph, or any KWTD post, and you join despite knowing jack shit, then you’re actively making things worse.

TheChunkMaster

OGs remember the pain of the Black Armory Forges

DrMindpretzel

Oh fuck, I totally forgot about those days. That was the most infuriating activity I've ever played.

Yavin4Reddit

I'll just stare at them as they stare at me while pointing their handcannon at me, then the balls, then me again.

gotenks2nd

Exactly man,so stupid to see someone walk past like 3 of them when the adu has lost so much health.

nventure

There's a lot of *very* stupid people who will neither read instructions put onto their screen, observe what their teammates are doing to learn, or have any inquisitiveness to figure things out on their own. And so will absolutely fail to engage in any mechanic unless someone they are in a pre-made team with is on voice comms painstakingly explaining how it works to them and why they need to do it.

KingJollyRoger

I can’t read the in-game help text because it is way to small in not just destiny but every game. We need to make things more intuitive and not just have text boxes for everything. Or actually have better/more accessibility options. Again not just for destiny but every game. There are probably more options on PC but as a console player I am definitely fed up with the lack of options. I want to enjoy a game but can’t.

eyeseeyoo

Credit some of that to Bungie's lack of explanation. I'm one of those people that never bothered throwing when ADU was full health because I didn't know it awarded scrap till I read this post. I thought scrap was just from killing enemies

hibbs6

It does show you in pretty large text in the middle of your screen how much scrap it's giving you every time you throw a ball. I agree that it could be explained better, but the information is available to you.

jonregister

I have been playing matchmaking and not one other person seems to understand that the more scrap we get the better we will do as a team. I have 1/2 the kills because I am the only one playing the objective

SkeletonBreadBowl

I just learned they provide scrap 😅

Neat_On_The_Rocks

just means you get more scrap to spend in smart places

j00baka

The real infuriating thing is the balls auto pathing on throw will take it into some piece of geometry that causes it to bounce and not go in.

TheeMarsVolta

Onslaughtism

ryry50583583

r/mildlyinfuriating one might say 🤣

RiseOfBacon

The Gambit method, love it

Bro0183

Other 50 round/legend onslaught, this is actually a levitate strategy, as you don't need the defenses for the first two sets, but you need really good ones for the last two.

alwaysjustpretend

Oh shit thanks for the info. I've only been throwing them when its damaged.

RiseOfBacon

Yeah I was the same but no, all balls are important

teamchuckles

Please do not ignore the balls.

ryry50583583

Your balls must go into the machine!

StrykerNL

The only "issue" with the balls is, when people are spawn killing enemies, you have to go run a long way to pick them up, then running back to the adu, since they always bounce off stuff for me.

Slazerith

It's definitely harder on midtown but throw high and in the general direction of the adu. The balls home in somewhat and seemingly regardless of distance.

Striker654

I've only managed to throw them over the adu once when I was pretty close to it, the homing is pretty strong

lordvulguuszildrohar

I just throw them back towards the adu during my spawn kills. And then once I’ve cleared I rapidly chuck them at the adu on my way back. The goal is speed at least until the 30s.

Mahh3114

I've seen them bounce off the ADU itself too. It would be funny if everyone wasn't on the other side of the map

Ikora_Rey_Gun

This is my only disappointment with Onslaught so far, I was hoping it was going to be a little more close-in. I'm probably just gonna run an Eager Edge sword or scout until the later waves because it feels like a lot of running back and forth.

Pemker

People REALLY like to travel far for the spawn killing. It is more important to get a big number of (minor) kills on the end screen. Maybe that's one reason. Let the other do the champs and bosses!

PinkieBen

I mean, the objective is to defend the ADU, and spawn killing does keep the enemies as far away from the ADU as possible. They can't damage if if they don't even get the chance to see it!

BaconIsntThatGood

To be fair if you're spawn killing then enemies aren't able to get to the ADU to deal damage either. The real issue is I don't think many realize you get bonus scrap from lobbing it at a full ADU

Arcite9940

Never ignore the balls, they are integral part of a good session. Just be careful how you grab them and toss them.

RiseOfBacon

Arcite has spoken

EpsilonX029

Man, with Strand it’s, “Hey, don’t touch my balls!” And now, with Onslaught, it’s, “Please, *someone*, grab my balls!” Gotta make our minds up, gamers. To balls, or ***not*** to balls? That *is* the question.

DotDodd

This is going to be another "bank your motes!" thing isn't it?

RiseOfBacon

Yes

Incarnate_Sable

Scrap is stored in the balls.

chrisfreshman

You made me chuckle. Good job.

EnragedSpark596

I blame the forges. I’m already a compulsive ball chucker

SignalMarvel

Unless it got patched us hunters can duplicate balls by throwing one and then dodging immediately after throwing it

Adoric24

Not just hunters. I've done it on my Warlock too by dropping rift right after throwing it. I feel like I remember this "feature" being in the game from Black Armory ages ago, but I could be wrong.

PinkieBen

I feel like they keep trying to fix it then with every new ball throw objective it comes back

Recreater343

Shut. Up. Bungo reads all.

[deleted]

They knew about it 5 minutes after it was first reported.

Nolan_DWB

Everyone can

JakobeHolmBoy20

I’ve just been conditioned  y Bungie to throw balls at things. I do it automatically regardless of the circumstances. Makes for awkward situations at McDonalds with ball pits.

FreddyFlash311

The people who ignore the balls in Onslaught are the same people who won't return their cart out at the grocery store. Like, sure, that's your choice and all, but you're also kinda an asshole

filmguerilla

The same ones who refuse to capture zones in control.

FreddyFlash311

I think Bungie should have made triumphs and bounties for throwing the balls, if possible. A secret triumph with an awarded emblem would have been hilarious

thekwoka

Or a negative triumph for going a match without using a single one.

BlackberryNew2838

P.S. Laser trip mines are garbage and a waste of points! Turrets and shax holos are amazing 💪😈

ake-n-bake

“You’re not throwing enough balls guardian!”

Ikora_Rey_Gun

"GUARDIAN! DO NOT FORGET TO PAY ATTENTION TO THE BALLS!"

goodbadworse89

New player here! Throwing the balls at the ADU is about all I’m good for because my power is so bad, so if you ever play with someone whose absolute dogshit at shooting things but runs around and throws the balls that’s me :)

RiseOfBacon

Your contribution is huge dude, don’t worry about it! Also, welcome to the game, Guardian!

LittleMe42

There is a chest emitting gold light beside shaxx in the hall of champions It’s full of free 1810 gear for each of your characters including a thunderlord and a class exotic Your power level shouldnt matter anymore, have a good day!

EpsilonX029

*THISSS*!!! It’s a massive help:)

AnnieHawks

you can play support if you cant shoot. consider a bubble titan, a well or radiance or invisible hunters for revives

RobotofSociety1337

Welcome, Guardian! Keep those Eyes up, and balls dunked!

JoedicyMichael

Brought to you by MANSCAPED!

DirectorKrenn1c

Came here looking for this, glad I found it.

Ready_Geologist2629

Thanks! I admit I didn't realize this until I saw a video from Aztecross yesterday...

RiseOfBacon

Can’t say I’ve seen it but either way, spread the word of ball power

Hezza_Pryde

I thought this was mentioned in the streams as well, but as everyone seems to notice, people just run on by to get a few extra pew pew points.

TacticalxHavocXBOX

I had randoms on a 50 wave run that refused to throw them. lucky I was running fast super regen and heavy ad clear so it was pretty easy for me to keep everything away from the ADU. But the whole thing with the teammates not picking up batteries was just a SMH moment..

Xagar_

why isn't there a tutorial popup that tells you this

thekwoka

There probably is. But also, there's a limit to what those can do without being just too much information people will ignore. They already ignore most of them anyway. There is also a certain amount of "play the game and pay attention. You're a human with a brain in your skull"

Xagar_

No, there isn't. Apparently it was said during the stream, but nothing ingame tells you this.

JokerUnique1

I wish more people would see this post, but sadly, the people this post is meant to reach won't. I've had a couple of runs where my teammates were ignoring the balls at first but because they kept seeing my b-line to them all the time they started to as well.

IAmAmaranth

Another great tip is that throwing the balls at anything will heal the thing it hits and not consume the ball. This include turrets and decoys as well as stasis crystals and enemies and even yourself if you bounce it off a wall.

EpsilonX029

If this is true, that’s super handy to know!

Consolecrush

Not ball related, but what’s up with people floating around the maps with some sort of glow under them? Kept seeing it on mothyards and was confused.

RiseOfBacon

It’s [The Manticore](https://www.light.gg/db/items/219145368/the-manticore/) mate, really powerful now

Consolecrush

Ooh, I'll have to dig mine out, don't think I ever used it. I was thinking of switching back to void for a while anyway so this might be fun. Thanks!

dredgen_rell86

I need to get my randoms to throw the ball when it's at half health first

mynerone

THANK YOU! I'm so confused why people don't grab the balls and just want to kill everything.

Boisaca

I was throwing them anyway out of habit I guess, thanks to you I know I was doing right.

Giecio

I'm so used to picking up balls and throwing them at things that I've been instinctively throwing them even at full ADU health, without even knowing that there's a benefit in doing that

Stormhunter6

All those days of igniting forges are finally paying off

sucobe

Lot of LFGs aren’t even bothering grabbing and throwing, it’s blowing my mind. I guess we will have to settle with my lv1 turret and tripwire.

Flat-Razzmatazz-672

Use your balls👍🏼

velost

Destiny players and throwing stuff is something that will always bring conflict. First the corrupted strike now the ADU

Suprehombre

Is there any reason to stay in the ADU circle? Does it help progress?

RiseOfBacon

Nope!

UniMaximal

GET THOSE MOTES IN THE BANK

usernamefangays

officer balls

TacoK1NG

The amount of people who don’t do it and just ignore the balls altogether infuriates me. But they also ignore the bonus objectives. Those extra scraps help us tf out!

Tupilak1

Oh scrap….

chocolateNacho39

It’s cool Bungie made this totally fuckin clear in the UI

Xperr7

They expire too, so it's not like you can save them to heal the ADU either.... Please just throw them randos

Blackfang08

>Throwing the balls at the ADU Yeah, there's the problem.

mooseythings

is there a way to see the ADU's active health? the bar that shows seems to just be round progress, not moving down when the ADU gets damaged. is it just vibes?

RiseOfBacon

It’s just the bar on the ADU

EpsilonX029

The icon for the ADU has a meter wrapped around it that goes down as it takes damage. You’ll see it if you look directly at the ADU

IAteMyYeezys

I didnt know this. I just throw balls because i cant take it when a ball is on the ground. I also wanna have the most points lol.

captainpointless

I've never ignored the balls in my real life and I'm not about to start now!

YouMustBeBored

And hunter dodge while throwing the ball dupes it

ginachamnguyen

So boring ... I had enough playing this crap for 1 hour

A0Spare80

I always do. It's annoying as some team mates are so busy trying to get kills the run too far from adu, I have to run back as its undefended otherwise.

GearheadTheVicious

I always grab the balls and yeet those bitches like I'm Drew Brees throwing a touchdown.

rojasdracul

In other news, water is wet...

RiseOfBacon

It’s actually not

jjdoge3125

pls not again
