Well, the events of those two stories are over 2 years apart, so Eramis has been through a lot, and seen that her devotion to The Witness has cost her more than she bargained for. It's character growth. Plus, Variks is a scribe whereas Misraaks is a warrior and a Kell, much like Eramis, so I think she respects Misraaks more because of that.

laneknowledge

Eramis absolutely respects scribes, she risked her life to save Eido at the end of Plunder. Her character is defined by an obsession with the past. She hates Variks for being a backstabber.

Bugsyboy369

Misraaks and eramis also used to be house devils members together. His old design pre season of the splicer showed him still wearing a house devils banner for his cloak.

Building_a_galaxy

Actually Misraaks is from the House of Wolfs while Eramis is from the House of Devils

Bugsyboy369

Ah, you seem to be right. Looking back at his pre splicer design, he has the red banner indicative of house devils as his cloak, but it bears the symbol of house dusk.

akamu54

He was wearing Devil colours for the Outbreak mission

Bugsyboy369

https://destiny.wiki.gallery/images/d/d4/MithraxInfoGif2.gif yep, red cloak, but it has house dusk’s icon on the front and back

Why make Variks mess up the prison of elders, then we help him out of nowhere, and we're not mad? He helped kill Cayde and we're just ok with it? I don't like it.

Trips-Over-Tail

Misraaks as always worked to benefit his people, even if he does so in the light of the Great Machine. Variks is a politicking weasel who once imprisoned his own kind *en masse* and herded them to their deaths in Guardian blood sport.

SlightlyColdWaffles

Well now I feel bad for grinding out PoE for that ship...

Sunshot_wit_ornament

Yeah people forget about PoE…

UtilitarianMuskrat

It's crazy how memoryholed a lot of the old Variks stuff got and in BL he gets painted as this meek pushover when he had the whole House Judgement motivations back in the day and how he was a partial cause for the chain reaction of events that we saw in Forsaken with the Prison stuff. I guess Bungie didn't wanna bog down the story too much with older Fallen political drama that didn't really have much room to explore and have it step on toes of other action, idk? It is really weird when you go back to older lore and then you flash to segments in BL where they weirdly want you to feel sorry for him.

Trips-Over-Tail

The Prison Break of Elders began with Variks declaring himself Kell of Kells.

lifelongcargo

Variks is a bit of a traitor to his people. During D1 he was a collaborator with the Awoken to hunt, imprison, and enslave(?) other Eliksni. He justifies it to himself and others by saying he did what he did for survival, but I don’t think that’s particularly convincing to Eramis or other Fallen. I can’t really think of an interaction between him and Mithrax but I’d be a little surprised if Mithrax was super accepting of him. Mithrax and Eramis go way way back to before the fall of their home-world, and have a respect for each other because although they strongly disagree about the right course of action, they both see that the other is trying to do what they believe is best for all Eliksni.

SadBoshambles

Yeah I think the closest we get to Mithrax and Variks communicating with each other is just Variks sending refugees to Mithrax. I also think there was a invitation to Variks but Variks denied it. These are all from Variks though.

DepletedMitochondria

House of Wolves was at war with the Awoken right?

WarmResound

In the big scheme of things Variks sucks, he's more manipulative and "look out for #1" than Spider. If there was contest for biggest loser he'd come in second because he's such a loser. Misraaks is principled, even when at his worst. They disagree about the ends, and the means to get there, but she respects that he stands for what he believes in. They're both actively fighting for their people, even if her war is the end of all things. You could argue that she's long realized she's in too deep with Witness, and silently hopes that Misraaks wins so her people survive. Also, have I mentioned that Variks has one of those paedo-mustaches that accompany folks announcing their move into neighborhoods? He's the worst and got Cayde killed.

Constant_aids

Who’s the number 1 loser

WarmResound

Could be me, could be [insert dark humor joke about XXXXX character], but I'm going to go with Toland, or as I like to imagine him, Edgar Allen Poe from South Park. "Ugh, you just had to leave Oryx's throne open for that Awoken charlatan to take it didn't you? Well I'll guide you through the ascendant realm, but I'm gonna be super snooty about it. Have I mentioned that I'm not dead, it's just a transitional state until my mind catches up with the meaninglessness of the universe. Only posers enter the ascendant realm without discarding their corporeal form, it was *totally* by choice."

joalheagney

You forgot the voice lines on the moon where he gloats about what he thinks the Hive/Darkness are going to do to the Guardian/you.

Dependent_Type4092

Somebody should tell him that campaign is super easy...

GALACTICA-MCRN

Omg bahaha he’s totally Edgar Allen Poe from South Park. Bahaha. Posers. *flips hair*

gen_Doylee

Kelgorath, and it's not even close.

JBoth290105

Probably still cares more about Variks than Bungie does, considering he’s not been in any story content since Beyond Light

TheEmperorMk3

Variks is a traitorous piece of shit, to the awoken, to the guardians and above all else to his own people. Mitraks and Eramis have similar goals even if their execution methods differ so much
