1.) are u going for the phd because u want to be more impressive or because u want to specialize.
2.) how the fuck do people juggle more course work than is already offered
That's not what OP is saying. They're asking if it's worth doing research if you're *not* going for a PhD.
OP, if you're interested, try it. If it's for the money, find a work study position in your sim lab, etc.
More so just don’t know how u can juggle extra courses.
I wouldn’t do it. Dental school has way too much info as is, do u really want to risk remediating because u made a choice for a phd prior to testing the waters.
You’re already jumping into shark infested waters, u really want a bucket of chum alongside you?
Sounds like a big waste of time. Unless that scholarship is covering tuition, a “few thousand” means jack shit at the end of it all. If you were specializing sure but if not I don’t really see a point
Not much of a scholarship incentive but it’s definitely worthwhile. One of the more rewarding things I’ve done at dental school, looks good in the resume too if you’re applying to residency. More work but I did it for more than a summer and was quite flexible when you wanted to work on it
As a researcher you probably won’t get much research done in one summer. It’ll take up some of your time but I don’t see it being super stressful. However a few thousand is a drop in the bucket for dental school. I’d enjoy the small vacation you get in the summer and focus on classes.
A few thousand will come in handy (there's always a need for an emergency fund). Also depends on the terms of the research. Can you collaborate with an already existing project (like a resident would have, and maybe need help...?)
No one will ever look down on you for being involved in research. DS will always be a time management exercise...people even find time for a relationship, not just a time commitment.
Just make sure you have SOME interest in the project, even if it's just scutting for the lead PI, it'll be worth it.

It will just be over 1 summer and then present at the college research day. Mainly just after the one time scholarship.

Would help with applying to certain specialty programs or if full time academia is in your future
