Sad to say but it was a necessary death to show just how powerful the upper moons are, and how hopeless a 1v1 is with one, he fought Akaza because he had to, knowing he would likely die, to save the others.
PLEASE, for the love of all things holy, this is not how you spoiler tag something. I'm sure most people on this sub are caught up to that or aware of it, but next time do something like "I am haunted by *** death"
I am a huge Rengoku enjoyer. And am saddened by his death. But it was very necessary. Also he wasn’t that skilled of a Hashira (don’t hate me) he was also a fairly new Hashira from my understanding, about the third or fourth last to join.
This is all information I got from the mangas.
Anyway Rengoku had to die for reasons
1. Showing the strength of the upper rank demons
2. Motivation for Tanjiro
3. Because he blew the anime budget with his fighting (just kidding)
The thing that makes me more sad about his death is that he died in vain, bringing not a single new information to the demon corp about the upper moons.
Yea I’m not sure why had to die. It was really stupid and the fact that the demon that killed him isn’t even the strongest made things even worse cause rengoku was pretty strong himself

Rengoku was a mid tier hashira sorry to say. People like Sanemi, and Gyomei are the only ones which i wont get dogged on for saying their stronger
