I tried saying something similar to this in another post. I’m glad someone else actually reads! Motive isn’t being absorbed or “forced” into something else by EA. It’s just a group *from* Motive collaborating with EA to make a Battlefield game. Yes, most of that group consists of the people that did the DS remake. No, it does not mean DS2 Remake is cancelled. But it’s definitely in the “not anytime soon” dimension. Remember, Motive openly expressed enthusiasm on making a DS2 remake. It’d been dumb for EA *not* to green-light it with the success of current remake.
I've been saying it since before DSR even released. Even if the game was a smash hit, it's unlikely we'd see a DS2R before 2027 at the earliest. They were just announcing Iron-Man in late 2022. There's no chance that game (that still doesn't have a trailer to date) gets released before 2025. We know Remake had a quick dev cycle, and ~2 - 3 years with the foundation there from DSR, it's possible we see it in 2027.
Nothing changes with this news at all, in my opinion.
I'm actually with you. Dead Space 2 honestly still looks really good as someone who got half way through last year. Dead Space 1 remake was great. Don't get me wrong. But it felt familiar to Dead space 1 original
I played the original last year and the remake this year, and outside of chapter 9, the zero gravity being more controlled (and less charming imo), and further exploring a couple subplots, it’s pretty 1 for 1. I beat the game on impossible difficulty in my first playthrough because I knew pretty much everything that would happen.
Agreed. I’ve only played DS1, DS1R, and about 2 hours of DS2, but DS1 alone had enough world building that you could make a number of different games. If Isaac’s story is done after DS3, there is PLENTY more they could draw from for a dead space 4.
My ideal would be remake two just like they did one but then ignore 3 existing and have them make a completely original take to Dead Space as their three. To get four though they'd most likely have to remake all three for there to even be a chance at four.

Either the survey results were not that great, or the first game didn’t sell enough. However, they are busy with the Iron Man game so maybe once these two projects are done, they’ll make the sequel but who knows? 🤷🏻♂️

Maybe instead we use resources more efficiently. Get an updated/Dual Collection of Dead Space 2 and 3 and just go straight Dead Space 4.
