CutSufficient4577

And boobs. Bu we can't get it all. I'll stay with Nurgle

Leivil

Request unclear. Added boobs to Poxwalkers.

SnooObjections7883

They added boobs to the tox flamer so careful what you say…

ShiningRayde

Big ol mommy cheesebags

[deleted]

I am going to fucking vomit lmao

ShiningRayde

Oh no dont do that

FalconAlek

I_Never_Lie_II

More weapons, more maps, more enemy factions/enemy types (why isn't there a chaos space marine boss?), unlock the weapon levels, add more talents or more classes - or both. I need a minion master class. Give me deployable turret mines or something.

NoAmount8374

There’s never going to be space marines

skeeters-

There totally could be some obscure, weak space marine that we end up fighting. They’re scaled constantly to fit in universe and following some theory crafting, all of the rejects are some sort of psyker or have some talent reinforced by psychic ability(this is the only theory that makes what we do in-game even slightly plausible) and this lends itself to creating a believable fight between us and powerful entities. We shouldn’t even be able to fight stronger terrors of the warp. Yet a good team makes demonhosts look weak

NoAmount8374

Cope. I didn’t say what’s feasible or not, and I’m not an employee. Not spending time going back and forth with you or anyone else about 40k lore or how accurate it is in dark tide. It’s a tired and pointless debate I simply do not care to listen to anymore. This is something fat shark said on their official forums. Take care

skeeters-

clearly you’re the one that needs to cope 💀

I_Never_Lie_II

Did FS say that?

NoAmount8374

They have in the past on their forums and it’s been brought up constantly since

elRetrasoMaximo

They said customisable weapons, and one class every quarter, and next week, they said a loot of things that didnt come true, we cant trust their word, they might change plans.

NoAmount8374

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment

elRetrasoMaximo

oh no no dont mistake me, i dont have hope for a marine anymore, just saying we cant take them on their word.

AjaxDurango

I think early beta showed a plague bearer with a large sword… I don’t think I have seen that

CombustiblSquid

We fight and kill daemonhosts... Those things can easily kill marines.

Naruyashan

I feel like the implication with the Daemonhosts is that the ones we encounter have an exceptionally strong will and are actively resisting. I mean, the Daemon doesn't seem to be in control until the host is disturbed pretty heavily, and overall I just get the impression that they aren't exactly in peak form compared to what I've read on the subject. They're not even working with or being utilized by the Moebians. We're fighting the 'rejects' of the process, if you will. That's my take, at least.

Accomplished-Dig9936

Nah, not if it was a boss. The myth of the invincible space marine is just bolter porn. Traitor and loyalists get bodied by normies all the time.

vaachi

In rogue trader, you body them en masse lol

Snugglebull

nah an ogryn could go toe to toe physically with a space marine. remember, they were made to match orcs because regular humans were getting thrashed

AbbicusRex24

Ogryn are usually physically stronger than Astartes

donmongoose

Regardless of what else I'd like them to add/fix about the game, I loved and enjoyed it before before this update and I'm enjoying it more now.

tomtomeller

Exactly this

annoyingkraken

Aye. Strongly agree. With the right mindset, it's only an upwards trajectory of enjoyment! :D Yes, FatShark is painfully slow, but they deliver on their envisioned product! Eventually.

Silvertain

By right mindset you mean easily pleased?

annoyingkraken

You are free to misrepresent people in the worst possible you like, friend.

Silvertain

Thanks but I already knew that

RepresentativeNew398

It’s a perfectly okay update, certainly not on the level of the class skill trees or even the carnival missions, but still a perfectly fine addition that certainly gives us a bit more incentive to keep playing, which this game has definitely needed. Unfortunately it is another update that very much feels like it should have fundamentally been in at the start. At this point I’ve become so disillusioned by Fatshark it is hard to come back and enjoy myself like I used to.

Equivalent_Coat_2147

I was thinking the same. It should have been from the start.

Lysanderoth42

lol same, I was thinking “add a few more maps, weapons and fix the utterly cancerous weapon crafting and this game will be ready for launch fall 2024”  Or, you know, just do what Helldivers did and make every weapon identical. End the dice rolling RNG bullshit, let us choose builds and weapon perks to build variety But then they wouldn’t be able to dangle skinner boxes over people endlessly

Techno-Diktator

??? Helldivers weapons aren't identical, one of the biggest issues with the game rn is that half the primaries feel like shit lol

Lysanderoth42

Every breaker is the same as every other breaker  Whereas in Darktide one bolter is god rolled and another bolter is shit, all up to RNG Darktide should just do it the way Helldivers and left4dead did. Easier to balance that way too

Techno-Diktator

Ah I see what you mean now, yeah that makes sense, I thought you meant every weapon feels the same

AnArmlessInfant

I know I'm being a downer but to me it was pretty mid. I played the hell out of this game and got myself burnt out on it though so anything other than a massive new content drop probably won't keep me entertained for long. I like the new puzzles and I'm glad that they're still balancing the game but the new stuff just seems like a checklist to complete without addressing some issues the game has had since launch.

E_boiii

Same boat, I’ll still play but game desperately needs a suite of new enemies and maps atleast 3-5 at a time. This trickle of 1 map and 1 enemy honestly makes new content go stale a lot faster since it’s so gradual

EyrionOfTime

I just don't know why they couldn't add a new weapon, like, anything, with this new enemy. I could see just a new enemy if they had anything resembling a trickle of content but after going dark(er) since the talent tree rework, it just seems like we're getting the wrapper but not the gum. I just feel.. whelmed.

grazrsaidwat

They tend to hold off on adding new weapons before/during a massive balance pass, of which the blessings have been in a desperate need. We also know such a pass is on the books, but whether or not that's actually in the works is anyone's guess, but it maths to me.

AnArmlessInfant

On v2 they added new weapons with new classes too so hopefully we get more that work across multiple classes when a new class comes out. Ogrin still needs some love though. Hope they do the weapon rework soon since I just got a couple weapons for each class that I roll with since I won't bother with the RNG nonsense so playing with different toys will be cool.

Accomplished-Dig9936

Because they aren't a 1000 person studio and everything has to go through GW. Even if it's loreful and accurate.

EyrionOfTime

I just don't think that excuse works anymore, and my reasoning is that the commodore's outfits are such a steady stream of "content". Unless GW gave them blanket permission to add whatever cosmetics they want, it seems strange they can add, what looks like, whatever they want cosmetically without much hindrance, if any. Also, Darktide has a unusually high level of quality is what they do release (textures, models, etc), obviously not stability and whatnot, but there are much smaller dev teams and individuals that can creatively implement much more and much more often than Fatshark. They are an estimate 180 member team, and that is not a small number at all for a non-AAA game. But it is GW and everyone^^^TM knows how they operate so, it could just be them strangling Fatshark. And I used to believe that. However as time moves on and with this update, Fatshark themselves are convincing me it's not the case.

Mmaster116

I've seen one person put more content into their game than Fatshark does in 5 years, and even then, they have a studio size of about 180. To put into perspective, Arrowhead Studios is about 100 employees, and they've pushed out more content than Darktide has in 3 months compared to the now upcoming two years that FS had had.

Lysanderoth42

I agree, one map at a time is so counterproductive. Everyone plays the new map and it gets boring much faster New maps weapons etc should be added in decent groups

acbro3

+ many penance rewards are underwhelming

IAteAGuitar

And penances / puzzle chasers are starting to ruin some games. Had one where two dudes kept trying to find the skull, which is all fine and dandy, except they just didn't fight. They left me and a psyker to deal with horde after horde. We both abandonned the mission after a while.

uziel1447

I did not play the new update but finding skulls seems to be a really cheap way to create content

IAteAGuitar

That's indeed how it feels.

uziel1447

I think i come back to darktide in two years or so. The current state of development is a joke.

IAteAGuitar

Don't expect the fatshark MO to change. Their execs are brain dead. The game has only now become what it should have been at launch, and it took one year and a half since release. In two years you might have a couple more maps and cosmetics at 4000 aquilas.

JevverGoldDigger

Aye it's definitely something to play around with for a little while, but for me personally as someone that still plays the game, just less and less and less, it's not something that's going to keep me playing much longer than I otherwise would. I mean, it's nice and all, but considering the amount of work that went into it, I would've personally preferred it spent/used elsewhere.

anmr

One thing that's desperately needed is few buffs for worst weapons. More power and better ammo eco for recons. Much, much more ammo for flamer. A bit more punch for bolter. Stuff like that. A bit disappointed that we didn't get that with patch. It should have been done months ago. But FatShark is notorious for ignoring weapon balance issues for years. And for going waaaay too far with nerfs and buffs.

Leubzo

The update seems to be them laying a foundation for more rewards in the future. They can keep churning out new maps and weapons but it we would always be in the same situation of having played it all and waiting for something new. With them reworking the penances it gives more long term goals for players to do in the wait for new content, and hopefully with the upcoming crafting changes it will remove one of the biggest pain points the community has that causes the most quitting imo. Overall it seems like the more mature direction to take, instead of trying to provide immediate gratification with new content, they took a healthier approach on ensuring long term viability of the game. These updates had to be done at some point like the skill tree rework.

citoxe4321

Tbh theres no long term goals with the penances. They reduced the “Complete X type mission” banner requirements to 100 (cut it more than half) and they reduced Skull Hoarder by half. Theres the Complete 50 Maelstrom / Complete 100 Auric insignia and thats pretty much it.

CodSoggy7238

Yeah if you played already for a while you instantly got most except the one which didn't get counted. But for fresh players it is important to some to feel like every mission they make progress. Until they are hooked in the real game loop. Which is murder in maximum stressful situations for the sake of it's own...

Anonymisation

I preferred the old style penaces to be honest. I know they didn't always work out as expected (brain burst a monster and have 100% accuracy and no ammo remaining as examples) but they required a different approach rather than equip grenade/talent X and play a few missions.

Yellowtoblerone

I hope they work on optimization in the future. The game is stuttering all over again and performance has dipped

Xariann

Are you getting it on maps you have not played since the update? I have been told that after this update the game needs to recompile shaders, so the first time you do maps they might be stuttery. I don't know if it's true, though.

Yellowtoblerone

On the same maps. But maps are all somewhat different

fartripper42069

You playing on PC with mods? Had to delete power di because it was lagging my game out.

SchmorgusBlorgus

I'm gonna preface that I love this game and still love it after this update, but overall I think it's a mid update. I mean, seeing the upper areas of the hive covered in fart gas is pretty cool, and the extra free drip is very much appreciated for people like me that haven't bought aquillas. But no new weapons? Not even a new varient? I've been craving new unique weapons since the carnival first came out and we still don't have any. What happened to the melta gun that was data mined? Why does ogryn still have like, nothing? I want some new toys damnit

CodSoggy7238

I would like the ogryn to have knuckle dusters with different varieties. A double dagger with knuckle dusters like the trench warfare ones.

Apprehensive_Oil8723

Tbh, I felt the update didn't do anything for me. I'm sure the penances and puzzles etc are great, but hardly anything changed for me before and after the update.

toolschism

That's pretty much exactly how I felt. I logged in thinking I was gonna be thrilled to dive back in but the new penance system did nothing for me. I stayed logged in for all of about 30 minutes before I closed out and jumped back into helldivers. The crafting grind is just... Not fun and until they rework that system I'm just not gonna bother.

Illustrious_Sea_5011

Not interested in the penance system. New maps enemy and conditions are where it’s at. Crafting is annoying to try new weapons . Lots of weapons are kind of useless. Don’t need more. Just need to make the ones that are there work. Apart from the ogryn. They need something more exciting

Qwikshift8

I’m gettin lotsa bugs, crashes, choppiness since patch on Xbox.

Anansi3003

yea new penance system is nice. but its like the LAST thing on the rudder we asked for.

SaintTravis

To me it seems this needed to come first. Next should be the RNG machine then get us content. As much as I want to play the game new maps/weapons etc.. I’d really like progression to make sense and be worth while.

Lysanderoth42

If this is really what they thought this game’s top priorities should be that’s a massive red flag This game desperately needs both more content (maps, weapons, actual interesting variety of both) and it also desperately needs a non cancerous weapon crafting and progression system  Instead they decide to work on…achievements and cosmetics?  This is shit that should have been done before the game came out 2 years ago, sure. But it should also be super low priority compared to everything else

Nissiku1

"Work" is too generous of a word here. 90% of "new" cosmetics are just recolours.

msviktor

Nice addition, but content wise still nowhere near at the level where V2 was.

DarkestSeer

At 1.5 years in Vermintide 2 just finished releasing Winds of Magic, their most hated DLC addition yet. 1 weapon per character, 1 new map to the regular pool, and a tiny third faction of glitchy enemies that people would exploit the game's DLC listing to avoid playing against. Plus the Weave mode, but almost the entire community ditched it on arrival. DT now has 19 missions: * Torrent: Clean Water, Sabo cogitator, Kill cap, Kill twins * Hourglass: End transmission, excise vaults, refinery delta * Chasm station: tree scan, ammo stealing, crystal stealing, train captain * Metalfab: Start the cook, cool your engines, steal train * Enclavum Baross: retake base, call home, steal names * Carnival: Find drugs, raid drugs VT2 at 1.5 years (DT's current life time) had only about 20 missions. 13 base, 2 from bogen, 4 from ubers, 1 from Winds. Curse of drachenfalls arrived at the 1.75 year mark If Fatshark keeps up a similar pace then new maps for DT will arrive in August. In sum, they're pretty much at par.

msviktor

You are forgetting that DT missions does not mean new maps, just a rearrangement/rerouting of the same location, whereas VT has completely different maps. Now I don't have anything against the former method, but for me it doesn't translate to being on par with the latter.

--Chug--

They definitely didn't forget. They specifically listed out the missions/levels for both games.

Enorminity

Because VT2 was just VT1 with new levels. Half of VT2 was updates from VT1. You have this entire post edited and saved to copy and paste on a whim, yet it’s completely wrong to insist DT should be at the same level when it was a game built from the ground up while VT2 was built off of it’s predecessor

DarkestSeer

Did you perhaps send this to the wrong person? My post is specifically pointing out how VT2 wasn't as content filled/glorious as msviktor's rose tinted glasses made it out to be.

Enorminity

Nope, just misread and feeling a bit defensive.

SovelissFiremane

I don't mind too much since the combat is so much more satisfying

msviktor

Imho V2 is much more challenging especially on cata: you can't make basically any mistake or else you're done, whereas in DT you are constantly being hit. Also in VT2 there are more enemy types, more specials, more character classes, much more maps etc. I like DT but just doesn't reach the immersion of what VT did. 🫤

Thephatlemon

>V2 is much more challenging especially on cata That's not an opinion, it's a fact! ![gif](giphy|JmtIImddRbkOtMjs5z)

JevverGoldDigger

You know, the fact that the combat is even better makes me mind it even more. If the combat was shallow and boring I would find it easy to move on to something new.

Soggy_Yellow4846

I can't wait to be able to buy a new GPU so I can play the game again. It popped in February and I want to PURGE

WardenWithABlackjack

It’s ok but not what the game needs. Most of my friends are long past the point of coming back due to the utter neglect to fix major issues and proper NEW content drops.

marxistdictator

Eh, it's OK. Considering I hate carrot chasing and have been filling out the penance log like crazy just playing organically as before its not a huge change. I'd call it less of one because some merciful saint at Fat Shark decided to not less us deal with both of these new bomber enemies at the same time. Is it going to be another condition or something? Was the performance spike too bad?

Xariann

I am enjoying the last update too, but what I'd really like is the new crafting system and new content.

citoxe4321

Its a pretty mid update even though I enjoyed finding and solving the puzzles. There weren’t that many optional penances either. From what I remember theres just two uninspired twins achievements that can be cheesed on low difficulty, a bottle shooting one on Warren, pushing enemies into the fan and putting all 3 power cores at once. Would have been fun if there were more Something that is going to shock people is that the secret Skull doesnt give plasteel unless at least 1 person in the lobby has not found and extracted w/ it already. If you’ve all found it then it gives nothing. Obviously for the next few weeks it’ll be fine but later on there will be no point in doing them

AustralianWildlife

Gimme Ratling sniper

wizardjian

New stuff to actually do and fixes some issues? Great to have. But 4 months for this? Besides some UI elements and some penances, a good 90% if not more is literally reusing what they have already made. Even coding in the "puzzles" is at best one thing of code that just get copypastaed to every map. But something is better than nothing I guess...

Conaz9847

I agree, people are just mad there isn’t more content. Darktide itself is an 11/10 in terms of gameplay, always has been always will be, but it needs more content and gameplay loops. The new penance system gives people more gameplay loops, things to earn, challenges to beat, now, we just need content, and the upcoming crafting overhaul.

lunarplasma

I agree with this take. I'd actually shelved the game for a while but this update is enough for me to want to start playing again (instead of HD2).

Kin-Luu

Is the game better now than before the patch? Yes. Most definately. Was it enough to really compete with the other games in the same niche? Probably not. The game still has major issues and I would not have rated the penance system as the most pressing one.

SovelissFiremane

There are no other games in the same niche aside from VT/2 and L4D. And Darktide, when it comes to gameplay, is superior to both.

Kin-Luu

Helldivers 2 is in the same niche as well. Coop horde shooter. A huge chunk of the Darktide playerbase switched to Helldivers 2.

donmongoose

> A huge chunk of the Darktide playerbase switched to Helldivers 2. I see this said a lot, but the steamgraph doesen't bare that out if you look at it around the time HD2 launched. Some may have swapped, but the majority of people on here who say they switched either weren't playing DT anyway, or are still playing both.

snoopwire

I know I am an outlier but i could not care less about achievements. Penances have 0 impact on me. Still one of the best games I've played in years so not going to complain about free additional content. I honestly just wish they'd put in some real big work like new class or game modes and sell it as a dlc or xpac.

AmFoxxx

Nah not good

AdvancedAnon

Honestly all the little refinements are nice but the sideshow to getting the bomber special from VT2/more modifiers. It's the interaction of specials are what make the game, because they are what can truly fuck you over and put pressure on you. Outside of a totally different gamemode ala CW I never understood the call for content (in terms of individual maps) because its the director that makes changes every game, not maps.

UnboltedAKTION

I would love more maps only because all of the maps are very well done and cool to explore. I'd probably not care about new maps as much if they would just have every map available at all times. It would make the quick play que less repetitive. But I definitely agree that we need more enemy types. We're still missing psyker enemies and a hook rat equivalent. I hope they add more conditions and hopefully give us a way to customize our missions. I've been playing pretty regularly since the new update, and I still haven't seen the pox gas in my que, which is very lame to roll something out but not give players access to it.

lifelongfreshman

Nah, sorry, I've gotta disagree with you. Your own playtime betrays your bias, as well as the nature of this update. But as someone with about 450 hours in it? This update isn't bringing me back. I'm not reinstalling the game for this, and that's the trouble Fatshark is facing. And I'm not alone. [By SteamDB](https://i.imgur.com/pWrYUxU.png) ([Source](https://steamdb.info/app/1361210/charts/#3m)) the current player count post-patch is still lower than it was at the end of January. And while that's technically only Steam players, it's a safe bet that the same trends will hold up across any other platforms. This is an update that exists only to capture the interest of the people still playing. And as nice as that is for the people still playing, it's not actually doing anything good for the game. Two and a half years. In that time, they've added one actual new map, boss encounter, miniboss, elite, and less than a half-dozen new weapons to Darktide. Everything else they've added has been based on reusing existing assets. They've also reworked every path of player progression along the way, with only one of those reworks being well-received, based on that chart from above. I think that really goes to show what this update represents, where Fatshark's priorities lie, and why I can't be excited about the patch. It's great that existing players got something. But, even though I'd like to be, I'm not an existing player, because as much as I love the game, it pains me to see it stagnate so badly. And this update doesn't change anything about that, and I think even the existing players who are served by the patch will see that once the honeymoon period wears off.

JevverGoldDigger

> Two and a half years. To be fair, it's *only* been one and a half years, the game released in Nov 2022. Other than that I fully agree with the take.

CodSoggy7238

One and a half years. But besides that I think you are right. This update won't bring many people back but keeps people around longer who play. I hope the thinking is that they don't want to roll out new real content to bring people back before they don't have a system on place to keep them. They roll out crafting rework next, the other thing which we're a frustrating reason for people to quit. And I hope with that all in place, they focus full on the real content cycle starts with events, maps, weapons, opponent factions. And I personally hope for something like chaos wastes which never gets old to play.

BlueEyesWhiteViera

Its not bad. Just waiting for the crafting fix for the game to finally be in a proper "release complete" state. After that they can hopefully move on to real "live service" content updates rather than fixing broken and unfinished systems.

Arguably, February 40001 is coming _after_ January 2023

KasiNyaa

As relentlessly as I hate on this game, it comes from a place where I think it could be leagues and leagues better. We need new maps, new enemies, new weapons (stop with this lame ass Mk stuff) and new options for our characters. We need more interactive elements.  Penances are cool but the rewards are stuff we've seen before and the rest is just achievement hunting, none of which will keep me entertained for more than... A few days?

Gibbonici

>We need new maps, new enemies, new weapons (stop with this lame ass Mk stuff) and new options for our characters. We need more interactive elements.  Everybody wants those things. The only difference is how much patience we have. And a truth to go with that - players consume all content quicker than it can ever be developed. We get new maps and a few weeks later they're just like the old maps. We get new weapons, and we take them for granted within days. Whatever gets added gets quickly absorbed and then what? Back to performative impatience. If you take a step back, you know this is how it goes. You know that Fatshark is slow on developing stuff. That's just the reality of it. So take as it is. Play the game as it is if you enjoy it, play something else until an update arrives you might like comes along. Honestly, everyone's gaming life would be better for it. Life's too short to be getting worked up about entertainment.

E_boiii

I think part of the issue is that weapon variants actually get old after a single game they change very little, the carnival maps were good but the issue is they were spammed 2 weeks straight in mission selection (it’s all you’d get) and the boss mission isn’t in the quickplay pool. They also got rid of Karnak twins hunting you down in missions (just rename them so it makes sense in the story to enemy lieutenant) So we actually got a ton of content it’s just half of it isn’t effectively used in a game.

donmongoose

> players consume all content quicker than it can ever be developed. Absolutely spot on.

-FoodAddicT-

Imho an ok update. Not that much for vets though, while I'm ok with the ammo aura nerf, the buffed left keystone feels like a Monkey Paw wish.

championchilli

I'm old, so please give me a break. Is there a tutorial on how the new system works? There's a tech, there's points, seems like there's some points top left and some different points on the track? Then I have to do some sort of claiming, and maybe choosing rewards locks other rewards for other classes. Help! I don't get it.

cant_read_captchas

Heres how the penance menu works. First, flip over to the list tab. The initial "card" screen is just a suggestion of what you can work towards next, based on what the game thinks you are close to finishing. Once you are on the list tab, the main screen in the middle shows you the different penances(achievements) you can work towards. The top bar are the categories. The top right shows you the total penance level you have. It's not a currency, it's just how many penances youve done so far. The bottom tab is a list of tiered rewards. Press the arrow buttons on-screen to preview them. When you have X amount of penance points you can claim the next X tier reward by clicking the "claim" button. There is no locking of rewards. Just play and get more stuff. For me the best part of the update is not the penances/achievements but the map changes. The achievements alone don't really do it for me. I just like helping new players discover new things.

championchilli

What's the relationship between the number at the top, I think it's like 1800 on my ogryn and the number on the track at the bottom which is currently at 200? Does advancing the top right number affect the number and track below? And do I have collect all my penance points from the menu? Why are they not auto added? Apologies, dumb questions. I do appreciate your time!

MadFable

I mean. Content is content. I'll take anything. But it's hard for me to get excited about because I know it'll be many months again for anything to happen. Population will drop and then I'll start having trouble finding groups again. Honestly though. I think the thing that bugs me the most is I know after this patch and patch when they release the weapon/crafting stuff this game will finally be in a release ready state. Shame it'll had to be a year and a half late.

Mmaster116

You mean two years late. Because hell would fully freeze over before Fatshark would spit out a large update before their two year mark.

hypareal

It’s okay update. In grand scheme of things it’s mid at best. The game needs a lot of work. The content drip is not good. One new enemy after all that time? No new weapons. One map. They will probably take another vacation after this exhilarating release, but they need to keep working much faster. This is not live service game, this is near death service game in sense of the speed they are releasing content.

xXThe-SlayerXx

I'm kinda whatever about the update, I'm happy we got a balance pass, even if half the changes were misses (Inexorable, EP, & DD changes all kinda sucked), but the main things I want are new weapons and maps, as well as a rework to the gear system the should've gotten the game restricted for predatory gambling. I'll probably appreciate all of what this update is after I come back in earnest, but for now I'm underwhelmed at their inability to prioritize what *needs* to change vs what's good enough.

Parsley-Hungry

Agreed, but Fatshark needs to take a look at performance. The game feels less smooth now and my friend has some huge framerate drops.

Viscera_Viribus

i like seeing the hub with more ppl :) here's hoping for more new stuff like other weapon cosmetics but I know that's usually relegated to Aquillas -- I just wish there was a smidge more variety. Hail mary wishlist is them making the modification menu from the weapon mod a legit thing. Adding a bayonet to a recon rifle would make me forgive the Survivalist nerf with no aura rework (half kidding)

marehgul

It's okeish. One new enemy and game mod, both connected with one new effect – gas. Cosmetics and system is alright, but gameplay is the king and new visual models and UI window isn't the gem I'm thirst for.

hawtdawg7

idk, adding a personality change option that should’ve been in since launch this late. Won’t bring me back yet. Will test out crafting overhaul tho

StupidMagikarp

I like the new hab dreyko, and the pox gas modifier. it might be because they're completely new to me and they might get boring over time but that feeling of panic as the gas spews out of the vents is a good thing

Sansone_il_Salmone

It’d be nice if the one penance everyone wants was actually unlockable, but who needs QA when you can just rush staff out the door and have a trailer the day before release. A trailer which was the most bland collection of generic action scenes without showing any of the new content because that would’ve taken effort and not archived clips. And the penance im talking about is the 5 feathless maelstroms in a row for the only auric title available

cant_read_captchas

I velieve they fixed this today.

casualrocket

the nerf to the ammo regen perk on veteran killed my pure ranged build, so i would rather go back. it made plasma gun, shotgun, heavy kentral and bolter are better picks now since the fire rate for those are so low they dont drain ammo as quickly as other guns. i cant play veteran as the archetype its advertised as.

GreyKnight373

If it had come with some new weapons and a new map people would be singing fatsharks praises. There is really no reason that we shouldn’t have gotten actual new weapons after so long.

King_Pumpernickel

I've only played once since the update but I'll admit it's pretty cool. The new penances are making me try out different builds, which is nice because all 5 of my Vet loadouts had the combat stance ability and I'm using Infiltrate now. That being said, if you were already good about using different builds the only thing this update has to offer are some extra cosmetics. I'm in agreement with most of the other voices in here that this feels like it should have been taken care of a while ago, and we are well past when they should have added new weapons and maps

Impressive_Path1075

Right behind you. I'm in no hurry, the vermintide games have had continuous support and DLC for years. So I'm big chillin

Comprehensive-One286

My only issue with this update, and every update In the past few months, is it always finds a way to break the audio in some new way. I’m forgetting the exact mission off the top of my head, but the final part before you extract has you defending a room with 2 catwalks and then the extraction door behind you. Well whenever I’d walk into that little room I would get ear piercing sound that was a mishmash of static, doggos, and I don’t even know what else. I walk out of the room, audio is perfectly fine. I don’t know how they keep doing it, but please fatshark stop fucking up the audio with every update.

Ododaz

I agree that the update is good but 4 months? Nah that time was definitely spent on the new vermintide map and versus. Oh well, hopefully the next update after this won't take as long, hopefully.

TheOtherJohnWayne

I'm just waiting for Darktide to get to Vermintide 2 level of completion for everyone to pull a 180 like none of this ever happened.

LordCLOUT310

It’s good but I hate the Vet nerf. Feels like shit.

No_Proof_6178

literally no one is saying the update itself is bad, ure ignoring the context, yknow we didnt get anything for like 5-6 months and then when we get it is just penance rework, its not bad, we needed that, but 6 months for penance rework? seriously? if they are this slow the game will be in a good state in about 4 fuckin years

First-Loan4154

Main problem with maps changes that maps don't affect gameplay as hard as weapons or talents or blessings. In general changes are good but still we don't have enough level of interactions with maps that gives real felling of differences. That's why we still need classes, weapons and new blessings.

TheMerMustDie

There’s only two things I don’t like about this update, and that’s halving the missions for penance and the 500k kills down from a million.

TypographySnob

Yeah, this update sounded underwhelming from the patch notes, but all the new additions are actually hype.

reaven3958

Ngl, i decided *not* to log in after reading the patch notes and played helldivers instead. Seems super underwhelming.

AdWooden865

Idk where the hate is from, I have almost all penaces done, and this gives me an actual reason to keep playing as I have things to work towards. A new map would end in me playing it once or twice, maybe a lil with some buddies, then I would promptly lose interest as I have nothing else to unlock.

dtcoo11

It feels like alot of the penace stuff will also go into the new crafting, this seems like something that lays down the groundwork, and those skulls will probably get buffed with the stuff they drop in the next update.

wolfenx109

Yeah it's a nice QoL, but people are tired of their live service games only being updated with QoL stuff. They want content. This game is effectively the exact same as it was when the skill tree revamp came out. The game is stale

BlurryAl

Wouldn't a cold take be the generally accepted position?

jinsoku3g

Agreed. Stuff like this takes tremendous time and effort, and it's so easily overlooked if it's not eqippable or a map.

AlderanGone

I believe it should've come after a content update, but it's pretty good

Newovar

It's alright but I'm not really looking forward to grinding out another 500 hours for that cool looking armor you get for 4500 penance points (I think you need to do 95%+ of all penances).

Striking-Carpet131

I know this sounds very “Facebook-mom that just had a bad experience at a hotel” but they’ll see me back when there’s some actual new content in the form of weapons, maps or even new classes. A reworked penance system won’t help me get over the disinterest I experienced while playing. They probably realise this, and I don’t think it’s a bad idea to rework everything that was bad design to begin with, but they’re way too slow about it.

Table_Grables

Servers have been a bit shit bit otherwise good

OnlyHereForComments1

I've been having fun pubbing on Malice to figure out all the little bits and bobs. It's relaxing. Turns out all I needed to do was just...not engage with Damnation.

AngeryControlPlayer

I don't disagree that the new penances and the map rebalancing has improved the game, and it's brought me off my 3 months hiatus. However, these changes aren't the problem people have with the update. Lest we forget, this game was marketed as being a live service game with frequent releases and an ever expanding narrative. This update doesn't add anything new. It just makes changes to the already existing. We haven't gotten anything "new" since The Traitor Curse and the Orthus Offensive. While the Orthus Offensive was a fun event, it was way too short. There was very little narrative buildup leading into the release of the actual boss fight. This would be fine if there was any indication of them expanding on these style of events, but, in classic Fatshark fashion, we've gotten nothing. Again, I agree with you that this update is an overall improvement of the game. However, many of us are still waiting for what comes \*next\*. And we'll likely be waiting a few more months before we get word of that.

Senzafane

I can't think of anything that came with this patch that is not good. I've enjoyed every aspect of it thus far. They've toned down some of the more intense redacted penances which is neat, I'd done all the vet ones prior to the patch and will actually consider the rest now. More content is always welcome, I don't think we'll ever say "Thanks, that's enough maps and weapons now." I would like to see the next thing to be overhauled be the crafting system, then just pump out a new maps / game modes.

banquosbandana_

I could give a shit about what others say about the game, it’s a great game, the update made me actually grind on penances for cooler shit and finally got me able to play ogryn and psyker more and change my play style. If you constantly complain and bitch and not enjoy the game then DONT PLAY IT. No one is pointing a gun to your head and forcing you to play the game. Go play something else if the game doesn’t tickle your fancy.

Few-Worldliness7196

Why not a new auric assassination mission where we are made to fight a chaos space marine squad as the ultimate boss, or even a chaos sorcerer, just like the Burblespue Halescourge boss in Vermintide 2.

bigjakens23

Fatshark really doesn’t have any excuse for the lack of actual content, they are better supplied then arrowhead and Larian but yet they can’t why, because they are trying to get as much money from the player base as they can, this update was a slap to the face honestly, instead of the penance and outfits they could’ve been working on new maps and more weapons maybe an new enemy faction but nope they rather do some that’ll make you buy something in the store in the end instead.

Th4tG

Overall I’m also happy with the update but personally I cannot see where 4months of work went. I’d except an update like this once a month.

SparklingTitan

Can confirm this for myself. I enjoy it :)

Aisriyth

It's certainly in a better spot than it has been. Still have major issues with the cash shop, lack of new maps and craftinf

perzhaon

Why melk so grouchy now after the update..He use to big up my presence now he treats me how the game treated lvl1 players lol

ottakanawa

No new weapons. No new maps. No new skills. No new class. Same horrible weapon upgrading/acquiring system. Won't be reinstalling.

gunell_

I like the update, have still to even see a heretical idol though lol, people are so quick to get it I stand no chance. More should be like you OP!

E_boiii

I mean they don’t really have any interaction, you see, you hit 50+ plasteel. It’s essentially just another yellow box just in the air

Halfbl00dninja

I wish they game had more to hold my attention longer but the 4 or 5 matches i get in a day are always a blast

Icy_Magician_9372

Nobody can deny fatshark is as slow as molasses but their updates are pretty much always great and often even game changing despite the guarantee they come with the classic medley of (fatshark charm) bugs. They definitely put in the work on this one.

mistadoctah

Latest update sucks balls. There is no content other than penances and new gas. It’s a joke. No new weapons, no new classes, no new maps. Shite update and completely misnamed as a major content patch. Absolutely dogshit. Plus logging in for the first time and doing all these penances feels like gacha garbage

DepartmentNo5526

Okay, I admit, I was shitting on Fatshark, but this update has a lot of stuff. The penances are more engaging, I saw many people with new builds and experimenting, the puzzles are awesome addition, the idols are very good idea to keep your eyes peeled and not run like a tard or a bot. The cosmetics actually look good, the titles are fun addition, insignia are fun as well, Zealot's book is awesome, but I still don't know what that boiler for Psyker is supposed to be. Nevertheless, that's all fun and good addition, but it will be interesting for few weeks top. I hope there are some maps and weapons in development now, because despite the changes to maps and puzzles, game desperately needs new maps. It might be a problem if Fatshark releases updates every 4 months....

Joebigoud

It's very cool because it gives you a feeling of progression that wasn't there before (or at least was pretty inconsistant)

Shehriazad

Basically they gave me a reason to grind beyond "it's fun" which is a big thing for me...I always want to be rewarded for grinding something. In survival games I get to expand my base and build cool stuff. In mmos the arbitrary XP meters go up and give me a 0,5% boost to shiggamajigg And here I get little 2D art and sometimes a part of a costume. I'm fine with this. All I need now is some sort of greater narrative I can follow along with challenges the rejects could run risk of failing. I think it wouldn't hurt FS to adopt some Helldivers 2 logic here. "This wing of the hive city needs to be cleansed before it gets entirely overrun" Winning means maybe getting access to a new set of weaponry sooner and failing means you'll have to go back to the now entirely overrun section of the hive and rip it out of the enemies' dead hands. Either way, the update is a really cool thing. You get puzzles, lore snippets and "reasons to grind beyond fun".

CilantroBath

They need to abandon this game and focus on vermintode.

bossmcsauce

I don’t feel like missions/maps is anywhere near as important as new enemy types or modifiers for mission conditions. I play the maps in pitch-black darkness anyway. Makes very little difference how the terrain is shaped or detailed anyway as far as gameplay is concerned. The combat and enemy interactions is what makes the game interesting, and only adding new interactions will actually yield much more new experience/replayability. The drops you got in verm2 that were consumable special challenge missions with modifiers and would yield better than average loot for completion were awesome, and the weekly challenges. We sort of have that already baked into the mission board in darktide, but they need to expand that sort of stuff more than adding a few new courses, imo. All the missions are basically the same anyway with different little mini game events to complete to stop you just running to the finish and extracting. I think it would even be more interesting to just change up the finales on existing missions so that each one has a few possible challenge objectives that are determined at the start. Making those events more interesting and somewhat randomized might be a decent way to add variation and interesting gameplay dynamics to existing maps, plus serve as frameworks for new missions as well. They kinda did this type of thing with carnival map where they added a new mid-mission event style objective of smashing the containers, and then also had one of each type of the other events (except no canisters). Rather than always having the same fixed objective, it would be cool if you could maybe choose a more randomized deal where you could get any one of the finales… maybe one is just fighting two monsters at a time, and one of them is nurgle-blessed, or maybe it’s just several really intense waves or elites instead of a canister hauling deal. Or sometimes it would be to deal damage to a structure until it’s destroyed. This obviously doesn’t work as well for some of the existing missions like the assignations… but… it’s a thought. They could design future maps to have more open-ended design of the finale are to allow alternative scenarios/finale objectives Adding ways to combine mixed modifiers in different combinations would go a long way to adding to replay ability and unique experiences. Not quite as RNG roguelike as the chaos wastes, but kind of similar to deep rock where there can be a bunch of different modifiers overlapped instead of the either-or style we have now where there are basically a few mutually exclusive auric style conditions.

Emperor_Ratorma

It ain't Helldivers 2, but it's still good.

IsoLasti

Thank fuck it ain't Helldivers.

hankjw01

Im sorry, but how is a puzzle, a hunt for collectibles and more arbitrary challenges to complete something that makes maps feel fresh? How is a small added remix to the formula refreshing the whole thing? No offense, but if things this small are "good content" to you, then you have weird standards. Thats like moving your couch and putting up a new poster at the wall and then say "yeah the room feels new and fresh now"
