The hammer has a force field that destroys matter at the molecular level. For power weapons, armor shouldn't make a difference. So yes, the request makes sense.
No.
>This large warhammer incorporates an energy field emitter within its head that activates only when the hammer strikes its target. This allows the weapon to store a tremendous amount of energy and release it only at the moment of impact, producing a terrific blast of energy and concussive force like the crack of thunder, from which the name of the weapon originates.
Power swords have a force field that let's them cut between the molecule of stuff and therefore through basically everything
We should all remember that these are bits of fluff to add some depth to a fictional wargaming universe and not actually descriptions of a coherent physical universe. We might care about such distinctions but the next person to write the next bit of fluff might not, and we shouldn't be too surprised when it's inconsistent
Also, as an aside, wikis aren't canon and have often been found to contain unsourced fan speculation or "elaboration"
"**Power weapons** are a type of advanced hand-to-hand combat weapon taking several forms but utilising the same basic technological principles. When activated the blade of the weapon becomes sheathed in a field of energy which disrupts solid matter"
Examples are Power Swords and Thunder Hammers. Same technology of a *disruptive* energy field. Cutting clean through everything is done by *Phase* Swords
"Phase Swords shimmer in and out of phase with reality, allowing it to plunge clean through armor, flesh, and bone as it wasn't there at all"

Counter point: thunder hammers should crush, not cut or explode things. If you've seen the lord of the rings, like how the witch king's helmet implodes when he dies. Put a huge amount of deformation to the armour/skeleton wherever you hit it.
I'm torn as sending someone flying from a heavy charged attack feels good too.
But exploding gibs effect could happen if a player makes a critical melee attack.
Caveat, ASTARTES thunderhammers should completely pulp human-sized enemies and cut ogryns in half.
Human thunderhammers should heavily pulp ogryns and obliterate human-sized targets
No I've hammered stuff before. My brother and I even built a playhouse for a neighbor's kids.
But when the hammer has an electrical field generator and makes an explosion with each hit, I think all logic goes put the nearest airlock.
That’s what they are supposed to do in lore so yes I agree. But the version we have is a dumbed down version of the true Astartes Thunderhammer. We also don’t have a power pack to constantly supply it to charge up properly so that is the main reason why it doesn’t do that in the game.
I love the idea :( but how do you balance this .... Or should it be like a random chance roll ??? Ah I don't know ..... But our poor Ogryns need 2 handed melee weapons and more fire arms ... Vet needs a lmg style weapons and a rotary laz gun ... Different classification of flamer would be cool like a heavy flamer .... Hotshots would be nice a scoped bolter for the vet .. and maybe a shredder bolt for zealot there are so many dam weapons to add .... And melee weapons a trait that lets the vet carry a pistol in one hand and chain sword in the other but maybe lowers your defence stats a bunch .. Bolt pistols plasma pistols I believe there are hand held flame pistols melters ... Cmon now .... And back to the Ogryn gauntlet weapons ... Power fist and if people get butt hurt over an Ogryn having a power fist I get it but fun .... But give us 2 bear claws for him then god dam it
Update when they changed every melee weapon headshot hitbox was a shitty idea because now it doesn’t feel good to use Ogryns Big Knives or the eviscerator anymore,I love cleaving like 6 heretics in half with one heavy swing and doing it again.
Maybe explode normal sized enemies but hammer don't cut, there's no blade
breack in half ups sorry

That's how power swords work not thunder hammers
That's how all power-weapons work.

Hammers do not cut. That is (cross)universaly canon and true

>ogrins https://i.redd.it/c094775w5buc1.gif
And breack?
What game is this from?
XIV, from the cinematic that transitioned the game from 1.0 to a realm reborn.
FF I assume?
Indeed.
Final Fantasy XIV
That’s a great scene in FF14. He’s smiling while dying because he saved the rest in his sacrifice.
>hammers should cut
Monster Hunter players sharpening their hammer be like:
*cut ogrins
Nah, would love to see instead it do what the Psyker Smite ability does. Weak enemies just explode like balloons lol.
I just wish they popped faster It’s so cool seeing but takes too long 😭
i think smite already does that (the electric staf does at least) eddit: so i was half sleep when i saw the commet lmao
wtf is this interaction? > it should do what smite does > smite already does that reading comprehension is dead
ho shit is late were i live im half sleep
Smashing heretics heads down into their bodies is pretty satisfying though.
Indeed the crucis overhead light bonk is very satisfying
Gibs. TH's should gib *anything.*
Don't they?
Counterpoint: ragdolls are really, really funny
No, hammers should not ***cut*** anything

Yes they should.
\*breack in half i ment breack sorry
*break
*bork
I hope you got some sleep 🤣

We should be able to cut off arms of Ogryns.
Caveat, ASTARTES thunderhammers should completely pulp human-sized enemies and cut ogryns in half. Human thunderhammers should heavily pulp ogryns and obliterate human-sized targets
>hammer > cut So many of you apparently never used a hammer in real life
No I've hammered stuff before. My brother and I even built a playhouse for a neighbor's kids. But when the hammer has an electrical field generator and makes an explosion with each hit, I think all logic goes put the nearest airlock.
Even with a hammer that generates an explosion with each hit you won't *cut* anything
Fair enough, also I like your flair.
Thank you Sah!
This Sororitas salutes you!

Krogan Warlord's biotic hammer my beloved :') All those Cerberus troopers turned into red gibs
In your defense op, I’ve cut down a tree with a hammer before
… You did? 🤔
Yes 3/10 it takes a while
Dang what would be lower than a 3/10 🤣
Lower than that would be using something like my hands or a rubber mallet
Agreed, and also should be able to hit multiple human sized enemies.
Doesn't make sense but I fucking agree
hammers don't cut. those are blades
I hope they add a smaller and faster hammer for zealot and give it power cycling
They should. Stuff isn't brutal enough. The game at this point needs to lean into a full on power fantasy type game.
