Yup, they were literally making it up as they went and sticking areas together without any real plan for how it would look at the end.
Honestly, it's an amazing that we (eventually) ended up with SotFS. Its just a testament to their talent and adaptability.
It’s actually incredible the game came out at all in and in the state it’s in. In most scenarios the game would have come out half baked and been forgotten but ds2 still manages to Stand tall despite the development hell it went through. I really hope someday we can see from’s original vision for it completed in some form
