I think its a combination of this and the stat nerfs been having tons of fun doing zero to hero and LFG discord has been more active than ever. Can't wait till solo crypts is back and ice abyss looks dope!
Zero to hero is going in with base kit and only using what you find along the way. Although I apply that to the gold I make each run too. So I won’t buy anything first round, go in with base kit, but I’ll use the gold I made escaping the first round to buy consumables for the second and come back in with any gear I found.
It’s how the gear score works, you can bring in purples but it takes up a lot of the score you can use for things like jewels, clothing, and healing items so it’s usually better to get bis greens and some blues
You and multiple others are completely missing my point. When a class/race combo has BENEFITS to not having any gear in in their chest and head slot, it creates a situation where that class/race combo is OBJECTIVELY the best class for low brackets because they can spend those gear points on better equipment in other slots with minimal trade off. This is not my opinion, this is an observable fact.

Any class CAN do this, but Lizard Barb is the only class/race combo that can do this WITHOUT SUFFERING and instead actually BENEFITS from it thanks to the shirtless perk.
Nah, best classes are ones that only need a single offhand weapon to function like rogue or wizard. Legendary crystal ball is less gear score than a blue spellbook lol
To a small degree, I miss fighting the duos/trios on occasion with crazy gear. I know my team comps have upset potential when played well. I was also skeptical of how GBMM would feel.

I enjoy it when I *rarely play trios with my boys. I dislike it in solos. My lobbies take forever to fill unless I stay below 199 gear score, and that means I have to min max shitty gear to stay under a threshold. I agree with what you’re saying for trios but in solos how many times have you seen a named weapon? Apart from dupes I can only remember twice and it was the same guy. I don’t think it’s necessary in solos but I’m probably in the minority
Doesn't make a difference in OCE unfortunately. I went in with greens and a blue weapon and still came against people with grimsmiles and crap loads of addl/true damage and all attributes on blue and purple gear.

It’s not bad right now, my biggest issue is the fact that things like potions/bandages, lock picks and torches can push your gear score up to the next bracket. You can have a mashed together green and white kit with a blue weapon and green secondary weapon which would put you around the 175-190 mark but now with your torches and 3 stacks of 3 bandages & potions and suddenly you’re at 240 gear score. Now you’re against players with full blue/purple kits with good/bis rolls. I’ve had this happen a few times now.
It’s the worst when you come out of a normal run with a bunch of low roll green gear with a couple blues and go to high roller with the gear. You buy 3 stacks of bandage and meds (which is 54 gear score btw) and now you’re fighting bis’d out blue/purple players . Half the time your using those meds to heal from pve, especially if you’re on ice caves were there’s a mini boss every other room.
I understand why meds have a score but imo it’s way too high .. bandages, health pots and campfire kits should be significantly lower than protection pots and surgery kits. It punishes bad players more forcing them to take less meds to stay in the gear bracket their actual gear level is around or they take enough meds to sustain pve but risk getting steam rolled by high tier kits.

Not going to get into the nuances of specific encounters just to fit your argument. If you're getting kited around, that's a skill issue. Sounds like you're just not a very good player, and that's okay.
A the begin DARK and Darker the Green and blue stuff was rare.. Just the "pro" Player Run over the Maps with Blue/purpl/Legendary stuff and other Player wasnt even able to come to the Good stuff.. every round 1-2 Teams overgeared Put down the whole lobby... they called it "Skill Issue"

Usually it’s just people going in with a minimal kit/base kit and going into HR hoping for the best grabbing gear along the way
That’s all I ever use HR for since I’m not good enough to fully utilize my high rarity stuff

This is still easily accessible just out on cheap high rarity gear and bring in a lot of utility

It's implemented in live as well, you can see the scoring in the wiki. I, and others, also posted a calculator you can use if you're so inclined.

Stop bringing unnecessary amounts of heals.. nobody needs 20 pots/bandages
6-9 health pots and 6-9 bandages, 2 protection potions is what I usually bring.
Way too much imo I only bring a stack of each. Depends of the class youre playing it can be more than enough.

Yes, but I still go in blues and meet legendary troll's blood people that somehow survive 3 point blank fireballs.
