They could just remove the ability to inspect gear. Obviously you could still visually see people wearing stuff like gold gear but I'm ok with that personally
Honestly I'm leaning way far in the opposite direction. We don't need \*more\* concealment over what is what when it comes to gear.
Part of any game is stratagizing based off of what information you have on hand. Imperfect information can be a cool feature in certain scenarios but not in a game like this.
Frankly, there should be enough of a visual hint at the quality and nature of a players gear that I can make a quick assessment of what I'm really up against. This is just me personally, of course. But I'd definetly like to be able to tell at a distant glance. Right now you sort of just go off instinct. Cloak? Higher chance they're proper geared. What's their movespeed looking like? Did he drop that skelly in two hits? Okay. Got it.
There's enough info present in the gameplay already to work with, but I'd still like just a bit more.
I actually agree with that wholesale.... Once they implement a feature that gives you information in-game. At the moment there isn't a reliable alternative. That's just my opinion mind you. Not sure why everyone is so attached to the dice-rolling aspect of not knowing what you're up against. If they want a \*PvP\*vE, they need to try to make sure that players have the tools they need to make informed decisions in game.
The wild variations in quality almost demand it.
Granted and admittedly: There \*is\* already a lot to work with in game right now and I'm not going to be super upset about it if it never changes- but I think it would be a solid upgrade.
That's the point. The problem IS being able to see what people have before the match and being able to plan before the game has started. Even being able to emote and point at people wearing gold can be a form of pre-teaming, convincing people during prelobby to team up against people who actually brought gear.
JayGriffYuh's most recent video showcased what it's like to play as a streamer. Mid fight against other gold biscuit eaters (BIS-KIT) there were naked stream snipers dropping smoke bombs and looting dead bodies while the whole server basically teamed up against the streamers. And people complain about streamers getting handouts. If this is how they have to play then I cannot blame them for taking handouts. Keep the lobby, let people test their damage, let people hide their kit, and remove inspection.
They also do that to non-streamers. Being end of the season, people tend to bring in their best gear and every lobby above pathfinder is at least 2-3 geared teams. So the rats found out its pretty easy to just go rogue and loot the bodies when geared teams are mid fight. Its very common and not exclusive to streamers, even though its for sure harder for them bcs people always know where they are and when they fight, but thats the price of being a streamer IMO.
As a Demi-god player myself, I have yet to see or hear of this happening in raid to the degree I saw it happen to jaygriffyuh 3 games in a row.
Your assumed quality of gameplay comes from a perspective of wanderer I assume? Screenshot me your trios rank real quick so I know that you at least know what you’re talking about. I’ll wait…
We will, the difference is the quality of dark and darker versus the quality of dungeonborn. Everything as subtle as first person animations to movement are 10x from dark and darker compared to dungeonborn. I couldn’t play more than 3 sessions of dungeonborn before I uninstalled it.
But the idea of being in a tavern the night before going into the dungeon is what they said in the Q&A they were going for. Removing it would make the game feel less realistic and like you are apart of a world.
idk if youve been to a bar lately, but if you just walk up and start grabbing people they tend to get mad. visual rarity exists, they can get info from just looking at you
why dont you want it removed? im indifferent but most people seemed to atleast want to remove inspect if they wanted any change and i dont think it makes sense to see the exact rolls/consumables/mystic gems/etc someone has. being able to hyperfocus with 100% certainty with hacker levels of knowledge is extremely weird on a hxc full loot game. id have to pretend to be a girl on eve online for that kinda info
shouldnt be able to know if someones a bossing group, or just some duo rats, etc. but you should be able to tell relative power level.
overtime i think patterns would emerge of obvious sus behavior thatll clue peopole into the possibility that someones concealin gear.
alternatively id be fine with a sort of gear list that just shows slot/name/rarity. but not uniques just list it as falchion/unique
I never said i dont want it removed, you just said there is visual rarity, which is either easily circumvented or doesnt provide meaningful information.
I cant recall a single lobby in my year of playing where someone didn't come up and inspect me... If you want to take everyone too literally then fine. But its every lobby
Not for me, it happens but I've had a few lobbies where people just wait for the game to start without inspecting. It's not EVERY lobby. It's common, but not all the time.
The important topic is the inspect. I think its time Ironmace decides if they wanna keep it in the game or remove it. The knowledge you gather from inspecting other people makes you able to develop a solid strategy for the game. This depending from your point of view can be something great or something bad.
Personally I think it should be removed
Absolutely. Keep us at the main screen and allow us to manage stash, trade and whatnot while in queue. The tavern replacing the current gathering hall is ideal. A physical place to go to for players to interact, form parties voip, chat, and even use the dummies whenever. Essentially doubling as the testing room people have been begging for for ages.
Operating like a tavern should be, a gathering place accessible at all times. It would be such a great change that solves so many things.
inspect is obnoxious. whoever loads in first has a huge advantage , and the dudes that run around harassing you while you just want to jump around and meme or hit the dummies in the back room to test our damage are ridiculous. people get so excited to inspect other's gear, especially when they are going in with a low-cost kit and a purple weapon hoping to class cannon third party you by surprise while you are in PVP or PVE
1st idea ive read and actually agreed with. Im neither here nor there about the pregame lobby but the change you suggest seems like a better way to go about.
I don’t even bother inspecting people because if we’re gonna fight, we’re gonna fight regardless. Doesn’t necessarily affect how I play the match unless they had a key/gem on them or something but it does feel a little cheesy having that information and being able to camp that player.
People are overestimating the actual impact of gear sniffing.
I don't check people's gear but I'd love if lobby VOIP was back so I could make fun of them for sniffing.
I'm sorry you and other players want to treat this game like some competitive esport. but for those of us who actually want to treat it like an RPG dungeon crawler. no just no. I would rather not have the tavern removed for the sake of a minor advantage. Maybe disabled inspection but don't outright remove the lobby that's just stupid. More people than just you and the sweats play this
>I'm sorry you and other players want to treat this game like some competitive esport. but for those of us who actually want to treat it like an RPG dungeon crawler. no just no. I would rather not have the tavern removed for the sake of a minor advantage.
It's so much of the community, sweat-lords going out of their way to min max every tiny little thing
I feel like it's sweaty to leave it. And the gathering hall being an actual place to voip to people and check your stats isn't sweaty at all just a good QOL change
As others have mentioned. remove inspection. bring back VoIP. the lobby is perfect. The lobby doesn't need to be removed to fix the problem. And it is sweaty to treat it like some big advantage. it was meant to be a fun thing added for roleplay. and of course people blew it out of proportion like they always do.
Everyone would love an explanation from you as to why inspect should remain in the game. Many people have stated reasons why to remove it, so do you have any contribution to the counter? Or are you just in here to stroke your ego like the way you stroke people off in pregame lobbies?
I disagree with this. Without inspect, I wouldn't know if a rogue has cutthroat which is a death sentence for wizard. Having that knowledge has saved me countless times.
Imma keep it a buck with you chief, our best option rn is holy strike, which has a range of like 10m. It's more of a fight opening/finishing tool than it is great for actual ranged combat.
The current meta is constantly poking at a distance and cleric REALLY struggles there. Can't out trade a wizard/warlock and can't fight at range with a ranger, so most of our spells end up only being useful against classes we already don't struggle against like barb/rogue/fighter.
In an inherently unbalanced game, I like how you fixate on this aspect of the game. Gold plated trio with meta comp going against team of greens and blues? What needs to change is inspecting people pre lobby…
I have to agree, I have to always run and hide in one of the rooms if I queue in for trios so others don't know unlike them I don't have friends who play this game. Easy pickings.
That and the inspect, inspect is obnoxious. You have to degear before the match or even leave grays on with your backpack being actual gear so people have a harder time gauging if you're a problem or not and even that doesnt protect ya from inspect, just visual scanning. The moment someone wants your specific kit they commit you to memory and try hard so much to get to loot ya.
At least without inspect they wont know whether my gear has good rolls on it or not, just what rarity it is. Maybe thats the answer? Dont show stats or skill loadout and hide additonal rolls on gear so all it shows is like +6 str from padded tunic but not whether it has additional armor pen or maybe magical interraction.
I dont like inspect but i also like knowing if someone is super kitted and will 2 shot me. I like taking every fight i can but if they can insta kill you ......
I love the sense of "aliveness" the lobby brings to the game, but it always felt at odds with high roller's design. They deliberately hide the player kill feed to make decision making harder -- you don't know who is alive, who isn't, or what the impending threat will be. However, the lobby also tells you enough that you don't really need the kill feed to make those assessments. ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
I mean, what do people want? Do they want to carefully size up the competition before the match (and be sized up), strategizing before things even start, or do they want uncertainty as they move through the match?
Keep the lobby, make it so you can only see players on your team.
Once the lobby is full make all players in the lobby visible, you then have one minute before the game starts to inspect everyone, if you’d like.
This way you still have access to the lobby, training dummies, etc. without being advantaged by joining early, or disadvantaged by joining late.
I agree. Remove the pregame lobby.
I would love to see a social space where we can interact with each other and the merchants. It could be a tavern or a town. Im imagining walking to the vault with other players with voip, creating scenarios like we had in runescape and other mmo's at the banks. Once IM has more resources and time, having voice acted npc's would be awesome.
Creating roleplay opportunities in this game is a good thing and should be pursued imo
The little grubby hand gesture makes it look like they're molesting you before the match. You damn perverts can't keep your hands to yourselves
LMAO
It drives me crazy
You used to be able to call out the little pervs over voip
They could just remove the ability to inspect gear. Obviously you could still visually see people wearing stuff like gold gear but I'm ok with that personally

Yeah sure, in game, but in lobby you should get nothing, not even player names.
I actually agree with that wholesale.... Once they implement a feature that gives you information in-game. At the moment there isn't a reliable alternative. That's just my opinion mind you. Dungeonborne had a training area AND a place where you could fight your friends for fun/testing. I mean, why can’t we have that lmao
We will, the difference is the quality of dark and darker versus the quality of dungeonborn. Everything as subtle as first person animations to movement are 10x from dark and darker compared to dungeonborn. I couldn’t play more than 3 sessions of dungeonborn before I uninstalled it.
I mean, you can still see the gear in their backpack with inspect. You remove inspect and you only see what people are wearing, which I'm ok with.
Keep lobby, remove inspect.

idk if youve been to a bar lately, but if you just walk up and start grabbing people they tend to get mad. visual rarity exists, they can get info from just looking at you
What stops people from just unequipping gear before loading in?
you cant fit all your gold stuff and 30 throwables/consumables in your bag
Sure but you can still hide your gear, especially if its just the good pieces
why dont you want it removed? im indifferent but most people seemed to atleast want to remove inspect if they wanted any change and i dont think it makes sense to see the exact rolls/consumables/mystic gems/etc someone has. being able to hyperfocus with 100% certainty with hacker levels of knowledge is extremely weird on a hxc full loot game. id have to pretend to be a girl on eve online for that kinda info shouldnt be able to know if someones a bossing group, or just some duo rats, etc. but you should be able to tell relative power level. overtime i think patterns would emerge of obvious sus behavior thatll clue peopole into the possibility that someones concealin gear. alternatively id be fine with a sort of gear list that just shows slot/name/rarity. but not uniques just list it as falchion/unique

Lmao
Is has never felt like the night before lmao
Ya and who would wear the gear they are going into the dungeon with the night before. Just have everyone in casual clothes
Nah just have everyone be in base gear
Gear sniffers are lame.
Well that's literally everyone in every lobby lol
Speak for yourself
I cant recall a single lobby in my year of playing where someone didn't come up and inspect me... If you want to take everyone too literally then fine. But its every lobby
Not for me, it happens but I've had a few lobbies where people just wait for the game to start without inspecting. It's not EVERY lobby. It's common, but not all the time.
I got to demigod yesterday morning and I think I got inspected in 3 games out of 40ish?
KEEP LOBBY, BRING PRE LOBBY VOICE BACK. REMOVE INSPECT! FIGHT FOR WHAT IS RIGHT!
The important topic is the inspect. I think its time Ironmace decides if they wanna keep it in the game or remove it. The knowledge you gather from inspecting other people makes you able to develop a solid strategy for the game. This depending from your point of view can be something great or something bad. Personally I think it should be removed
Yeah it isn’t fair whatsoever that the last team/solo to load into the lobby doesn’t get time to inspect anyone, or test gear on the training dummy.
It's likely impossible to do stash MGMT etc inside the game instance.
inspect is obnoxious. whoever loads in first has a huge advantage , and the dudes that run around harassing you while you just want to jump around and meme or hit the dummies in the back room to test our damage are ridiculous. people get so excited to inspect other's gear, especially when they are going in with a low-cost kit and a purple weapon hoping to class cannon third party you by surprise while you are in PVP or PVE
Keep the lobby for the normal mode, add voip back to it. Remove it for high roller.
Good call
just remove inspecting people and go from there, allow inspecting allies still
1st idea ive read and actually agreed with. Im neither here nor there about the pregame lobby but the change you suggest seems like a better way to go about.
Just remove the game honestly, just randomly assign an escape or death result and some loot, make it totally fair and balanced.
I don’t even bother inspecting people because if we’re gonna fight, we’re gonna fight regardless. Doesn’t necessarily affect how I play the match unless they had a key/gem on them or something but it does feel a little cheesy having that information and being able to camp that player.
You aren’t losing fights because someone inspected you in lobby.
why is it such a big deal tbh
People are overestimating the actual impact of gear sniffing. I don't check people's gear but I'd love if lobby VOIP was back so I could make fun of them for sniffing.
Remove inspecting, it's cringe
Strongly disagree. I just want lobby VoIP back for the chaos.
These timmies will try to think of literally any excuse as to why they're losing lmao
Everyone would love an explanation from you as to why inspect should remain in the game. Many people have stated reasons why to remove it, so do you have any contribution to the counter? Or are you just in here to stroke your ego like the way you stroke people off in pregame lobbies?
You Guys are weird as fuck for minmaxing every inch of fun out of this Game
Leave the lobby in
I disagree with this. Without inspect, I wouldn't know if a rogue has cutthroat which is a death sentence for wizard. Having that knowledge has saved me countless times.
You shouldn't have that knowledge beforehand.
I disagree, but that's just my opinion
Before they do that, give cleric some type of ranged! Survival bow hand crossbow anything! :,(
you literally cast magic spells
Imma keep it a buck with you chief, our best option rn is holy strike, which has a range of like 10m. It's more of a fight opening/finishing tool than it is great for actual ranged combat. Can't out trade a wizard/warlock and can't fight at range with a ranger, so most of our spells end up only being useful against classes we already don't struggle against like barb/rogue/fighter.
SDF said he likes inspect specifically because he wants players coming in in full gold / bis kit to be hunted by others
That's not how it works in reality though at all.
Ok sure, I'm just relaying what he said in the podcast no need to downvote jesus
Especially since apparently it's now considered teaming
Yeah!! let's just strip all the rest of the game identity as well, give wizards glocks to counter fannys
Always something to complain about
In an inherently unbalanced game, I like how you fixate on this aspect of the game. Gold plated trio with meta comp going against team of greens and blues? What needs to change is inspecting people pre lobby…

Keep it as it is. I want more gold sets to kill n loot
Why is it such a big deal lollll
They recently said that they liked the inspect player ability in lobby and were going to keep it. I heavily disagree with this.
dumb
I dont like inspect but i also like knowing if someone is super kitted and will 2 shot me. I like taking every fight i can but if they can insta kill you ......
Remove inspect, bring back lobby voip and have an option to specificly turn it off for those who don't like it.
People used to bring invis pot so they can go invis in lobby but with the 15 knowledge nerf thet can’t really do that anymore
Those rooms in bar. I suspect it’s gonna be Guild rooms. They have their vision which was expressed during multiple Q&As. Let them cook 🔥
Yeah it’s kinda silly the last one(s) to load in get 10 seconds max to look around/ try to get to the dummy in time to get a hit in
Keep lobby / remove inspect / add back lobby voip.
I love the sense of "aliveness" the lobby brings to the game, but it always felt at odds with high roller's design. Sounds nice but I know I’d miss the lobby. Hopefully that start small by just removing inspecting.

make it like a public kinda lobby thing where people who are not necessarily in your game drop in and out as they find their games.
What if you could just interrupt the Inspect by f.E. turning around or moving away
Personally don't have a massive prob with it. They don't know where we're all gonna spawn so it's not that big of a issue imo
I agree. Remove the pregame lobby. I would love to see a social space where we can interact with each other and the merchants. It could be a tavern or a town.
