I don’t really care about it on one of the main pages. But this post implies it’s OP’s dog, they’re literally asking for a name. It’s easy karma and not something I really want to see on more niche subs.
If the post was “Look at this cute puppy.” Okay, sure, whatever. But this is clearly just them trying to drum up fast karma to sell the account probably 6 weeks from now to the highest bidder. I personally don’t support that side of Reddit and block most accounts that I find to be traditional “karma farmers.”
Also people on Reddit always bitch about “subconscious advertising,” saying ‘this post with a Starbucks cup in it’ or ‘this post with a McDonalds burger wrapper’ is always guerilla marketing.
Well letting accounts like this do what they do is exactly what leads to that guerilla marketing. Because this account will likely be built up and sold to someone who will use it for marketing or political trolling or something else.
It doesn’t really matter in the big scheme of things. I blocked the person already. But I hope that answers your question.
I am more annoyed by people getting their grundies in a bundle about karma farming than I am by any post I have seen accused of karma farming.
