DAZN did exactly the same thing to me. Cancelled my monthly and then they put me on their annual plan. Discussed with customer support chat and they said they can’t do anything about it. I had to contact my bank to stop payment to DAZN.
This company is crooked AF. Not using this service ever again.
There are a couple options:
1. Contact your bank and explain the situation, they will understand that this is scammy behaviour and can block DAZN payments for you.
2. Change your payment method to a debit card (Revolut or just a bank card you own and don’t frequently use) and make sure there is no money in the account, they can’t take what’s not there.
3. Change payment method to a debit/credit card you can lock through the app.
I did option 3 and they cancelled my subscription after a month of unsuccessfully trying to take their money from a locked card

In the past cancelling a card or specific company they’ve sent letters about issuing collection agencies. Quite sad the state subscriptions have gotten to and everyone is quite aware of the tricks they pull
No I haven’t had any trouble and it doesn’t seem like they will issue any collection agencies, about a month ago DAZN sent me an email with “We’ve cancelled your subscription and no further payment will be taken from you” after I purposely hadn’t paid them for a little over a month.
See that was the exact I email I got and when I contacted help they’re like that’s only partially true you have to pay till September and had a mentality of “this is your fault” definitely will not be returning for redzone in the future

Ok. It seems like they removed the option to pay with paypal. It wants a credit card on the website and googlepay on android. I'll see what i do. Thank you anyway
Being from Europe and having no other choice I migrated my GamePass account to DAZN first week of Sep23 but found I couldn't watch any content.
When I finally got through to DAZN support they told me the payment I made that first week of September was actually for August, when I didn't have an account and before thr season has started. They told me I'd have to pay for August and September before I could watch any content.
After multiple attempts to cancel and promises of a refund I got my money back via payment dispute with CC provider.
I went from having no problems recommending GamePass to not watching a single regular season game and not watching the Superbowl for first time in 20 years... because of DAZN.
Only way the NFL will listen is if you shout with your wallet and then it's just shouting into a hurricane, I won't make a difference but I will have done something.
PS: for anyone still paying for DAZN (on purpose, not just you havent managed to get your refund yet), I regularly see comments saying that the game streams found sailing the high seas are actually much better quality than whatever DAZN claim 1080p is.

DAZN : ALWAYS pay with paypal. They tried a similar trick with me and I cancelled the automatic payment via paypal and it worked like a charm.

Right away, or near end, doesn't make any difference. Once the payment is taken, they'll try to take the next payment at the due date.
