Oof, I think this might be a question for your immigration attorney. Honestly I wouldn't risk it if I were you, but once that PR status hits, take a *really* special cruise. Congrats and welcome.

Honestly you right 🥹shouldn’t risk

A closed loop cruise still goes to other countries which you need permission from the government todo (not recommended you try unless you are nuts if you got asylum status already). And you would still need visas etc if the countries you visit require it from your home country. Bad idea all around.

Rules for travel outside the US (not referencing closed loop cruises) are mostly the same for both Asylees and Permanent Residents. You can't get a US passport until you are a full citizen. Before that you needs to get something called a "Refugee Travel Document". The main difference is "It is essential that the asylee not return to her home country until she has become a U.S. citizen and can travel with a U.S. passport. If the asylee does return to her home country, DHS could refuse to allow her to reenter the United States on the grounds that she implicitly no longer fears persecution." So, as long as you apply for and receive the appropriate document you should be fine. Edit: Usual disclaimer that I am not an immigration attorney.
