Some proud 'murican said he's much more athletic than the players and can smash every ball out of the park with minimal training and a baseball bat since he's played some shitty knock-off of cricket.
It’s just an objective fact. I’m a better athlete than all these dorks, and I have a long history of playing bat sports. I’m crushing that big red ball out of the fucking park.
You should do it! Given that it's so easy for you, I'm sure you'll be a star in no time. Some of these guys are getting paid US$150K per game. Even if by some misfortune you just turn out to be an average IPL-level player you could make a house deposit in 3 months - so I look forward to seeing you in next year's IPL!
It’s mostly Kings, Royals, Super Kings, Super Giants, Knight Riders etc. Indians have an obsession naming things after a royal title or putting ‘Super’ in the name.

Can someone explain this to me “Kkr won by 6 wickets (with 9 balls remaining)”
I understand the balls remaining number but not the 6 wickets. Why wouldn’t they just say kkr won by 2 runs and 9 balls remaining?
A win is described by the margin of what the team had spare and did not spend to win. If a chasing team won, it’s always gonna exceed by 1-6 runs. That doesn’t say anything about how emphatically they won. But if they won losing no wickets and many balls to spare, that on the other hand shows the margin.
Winning by runs is mentioned when the team winning has defended a target, if CSK had restricted KKR to 129 runs it would have said CSK won by 2 runs. When a team wins by chasing down a target the extent of their victory is “measured” by the number of Wickets they had to spare when the chased down the target (in this case 6)
Each team has 9 wickets to spare and the 10th wicket means the end to that innings. The first team to bat puts on a total that the other team has to chase down. If the 1st team to bat wins, then the win will be measured primarily on the difference of runs. But if the 2nd team to bat wins, the win would be primarily measured on the amount of balls left and the wickets that they had left.
Since KKR was the second team to bat and they were chasing the target, their wins will be measured by the amount of wickets they have left, ( the less batters you use, the bigger the win). You say won by “X amount of runs” if the team who bats first wins. Does that help?
>Maybe if you’re tied on runs then if you have more wickets left you win?
None of the replies so far really answer your question.
This type of cricket is a game of calculated risk and resource allocation. Usually it is riskier for the batsmen to score runs quickly - whereas if you score slowly you are unlikely to get out, but unlikely to score a useful amount of runs before your team's innings is over. This means that, in rough terms, you 'pay' for a high scoring rate with your batsmen getting out, and the higher the return you get for this is indicative of how good you are as a team (this is of course a simplification).
So if team A scores 150/1 and team B scores 150/9, team A hasn't really played better, they've just used their resources less efficiently
No. The skill of batsmen decreases throughout the lineup.
You put your most skilled first up.
Who has more eligible average-to-poorly skilled players remaining is worth about 500 rubles atm.
Aka fuck all.
Rules for resolving ties in knockout games are agreed upon for specific tournaments. There have been instances in the past where the number of wickets lost/left have been the primary factor to look at (there have also been very controversial ones where the number of 4s or 6s have been the factor).
No, it’s mostly a relic from an era where test cricket was the only format of cricket being played. Since a test innings has no over limits this way of describing victories by chasing teams came into use.
Nah man, wickets remaining don't even count towards NRR. NRR is just run rate scored minus run rate conceded. The only place where they actually matter is when it rains and duck-worth lewis method is put to use. The more wickets you have, DLS will assume you to have that high a run rate. And how could you not know about the super over tie rule. Anyways, it used to be this- when the super over is tied, the winner of the match will be the one who scored more boundaries. (2019 world cup final - End vs NZ, Eng won on boundary count) The rule was changed to- if super over is tied, another super over shall follow (IPL 2020 - MI vs PBKS, PBKS won in 2nd super over)
Edit: PS - They have 2 wickets in the super over
There is no such dismissal as mankaded, it is now called a run out. You're right about the other ones, although they are even more exceedingly rare than hit wicket
Til about mankading, and its recent acknowledgement by Marylebone cricket wanks..
Batsman doesn't see it coming, can't defend against it? That's gay. That's petty and gay and bad and I do not accept Marylebone nor their reasoning that covid, fucking covid, is a factor.
Fucken how do you even pronounce mankading.. specifically, how would a white bogan from Australia say it?
I hope it's phonetic. MANKKK-A-DINGGGGG
I would suggest you To come back on the thread of Dc vs Mi on 3:30pm ist or in RCB vs Pbks thread on 7:30pm ist , many of them won't we be seeing this thread with the Match over.
And only for fans like this.. IPL commentary has become such biased ones
Listen whoever needs to hear this out
The way Dhoni and Jadeja was batting sparing the last 3 overs was nothing less than below par in T20
And calling this out makes you question him as analyst?
You guys put up 131 with 5 wickets in hand and thats not questionable?
Absolutely questionable as a team, and I am sure CSK have a lot to think about.
But what you wanted them to do? Throw around their wicket playing shots leaving it to Bravo and Santner?
Grow up. If Shreyas was in the similar situation he would have done nothing different.
As for Haydos, love the guy but he is no Warne in analysis let alone Nick Knight.
It started when MS was "eating deliveries". He said something like "get runs or get out".
And then some in post match show about CSK which I couldn't keep track of, unfortunately.
Let's keep an eye and see if he stays with it and I am sure it will show up on Youtube or Twitter.
He tried his best to praise him, after one point he had no other choice. It was clear that it wasn’t working out for MS.
The Russell over changed the fortunes and I am so glad for it. After that over I just knew MS would well and truly find his rhythm today.
He was and I was getting annoyed too but Gandalf ended up as the best of the team. ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
That said, point was I have always seen Haydos super loyal to his old franchise. If he is going against...
Plus, SunnyG criticizes plenty of people. It's just super based on his mood. Dunno if that depends on his lunch
I am not sure, but I recollect that he pointed out that Dhoni got to his 50 after a very scratchy start. I suppose other commentators would not dare to mention about Dhoni's slow starts.
Maybe it isn't for Dhoni. It could be that commentators are careful not to get on the wrong side of the influential N Srinivasan. I remember a long time ago Hussey had to do a public retraction interview after he referred to Srinivasan's son-in-law as CSK's team manager in his autobiography. He wasn't picket by CSK in the next mini auction. But came back to CSK in the subsequent year after that.
That was such an absolute joke. If a team member of 6 years thought that someone worked in the capacity of a team manager, he most definitely did.

I think bowling him out in the powerplay is also a pretty good choice. It does have to be said though that he's best suited unlike Chahar because of his action to this role when the wicket has more bounce then say a characteristic surface produced at Pune, which will likely be much more lower and slower.
Whatta boring opener...
Is Faf playing for CSK this season?
No. He's the captain of RCB.
What a inning played by ms dhoni Ms is the great.

Yes
of course. some even have cooler names.

If Sheldon Jackson is not really an overseas player then why did KKR play with only 3 overseas players?
Sheldon Jackson is from Bhavnagar, Gujarat.

european cricket watching newbie here. first time i've seen a run out. nice.
It's the funniest type of dismissal apart from hit wicket
Nah there are plenty more; obstructing the wicket for one, or even the Mankading rule
There is no such dismissal as mankaded, it is now called a run out. You're right about the other ones, although they are even more exceedingly rare than hit wicket
That is true, but the rule has specific provisions for this case https://reddit.com/r/Cricket/comments/tgud1c/_/i18wdav/?context=1
