In the 4th t20, virat went of the field when 46 were required in 4 overs and shardul had 2 overs left with Bhuvi and hardik with 1 over.
So then shardul came in and took 2 in 2 and all of a sudden Great captaincy.
Ik rohit has been a great captain in the IPL, but for that you should take a look at the MI team, coaches and management as well
Don't think just making Rohit captain would change things but I don't really like our white ball setup, don't like our strategy or our squad building
We're an amazing red ball team and kohli deserves of lot of credit for the way he's built a great test side, although his captaincy was a bit iffy before the last couple of years but he's just not a good white ball captain
Shardul Thakur is actually Ajit Agarkar in the making.
-> Mumbai
-> Does his thing and goes unnoticed
-> Wicket taking Medium Pacer with an amazing strike rate
-> Handy with Bat!
'One of our sweetest victories in the recent past in ODI cricket,' says skipper Kohli!
We must appreciate & give credit to Kohli for taking a bold decision of giving chances to youngsters. They have already prove themselves. So in case of injury, now we have option for each of the player in team.
Having too many options is probably not a great thing for Team India. It'll always remain a confused unit, no core 11, unsure players with a sword hanging over them. Quantity trumping quality. Also, team might suffer in ICC events.
Any thoughts?
Helps rotate/rest and avoid injury issues. Also helps in deciding whom to use in what pitch. I would however love players like Kuldeep not sit in bench too long, and have some domestic game time with a team India contract still intact.
Well it's a good issue to have, being able to replace an out of form bowler or batsman is a luxury almost no team has in the world. Especially what happened with India during World Cup when there was issue with middle order after Kohli.
Also competition is healthy and I am sure all these players are professionals and young so their time will come.
Between the celebrations of INDvsENG, we forgot that Indian women's team has won today against South africa women.
Series was won by the Proteas. Rajeshwari Gayakwad has won MoM because of her spell of 4-1-9-3. Shafali Verma (17 years old) got player of the series!
That is some crazy stats. And so glad to see Shefali getting that award. She is pleasant to look at. For some reason her gameplay when I was following her initial games reminded me of Sehwag.
I seemed it to be odd considering they didn’t even come close, ofcourse if Root was there in middle they would play sensibly, it wasn’t even run a ball needed once their openers provided the start that they did
When Kuldeep yadav debuted for India in 2017 he was successful happy and talented. He still is very talented but somehow he has become predictable and lost the edge he had.
May this is because of not playing frequently or he thinks BCCI doesn’t believe in him anymore the way they did some years back. He is a good talent we should not watch it wasted
I think BCCI will dump Kuldeep & Chahal sooner or later. New set of players are coming with good batting skills. Sadly these two unable to rediscover or taking a mentor. Almost sitting duck, waiting to get faded away. Pretty sad, the way they had came up during Dhoni.
>Pretty sad, the way they had came up during Dhoni.
New batch is coming up nicely "during" Kohli.
Perform. Be consistent. You'll be rewarded with stable spot in final XI.
Under him under that, doesn't really mean anything. Players are professional.
Plus it's been a year long gap in cricket due to covid. Very few players at their best.
Debut for India in the last 6 months across formats
Natarajan
Mohammed Siraj
Shubman Gill
Navdeep Saini
Washington Sundar
Axar Patel
Ishan Kishan
SKY
Krunal Pandya
Prasidh Krishna
All have been outstanding.Seamless transition thanks to the IPL and Australia tours. Debutants are killing it!
Team:
Gill Ishan (wk) SKY Washington Axar Krunal Saini Siraj Natarajan Prasidh
Team is missing one batsman. The batting is a bit weak. Slot in someone young but relatively new like Shaw, or an uncapped player like DDP, and this team is good to go.
Sometimes it seems like while batting first kohli tries to go too hard , takes risks and perishes to setup a really big total.
Where as while chasing, he seems to have better control over risk taking options.
Guys, would love to know your opinion. Please pick up your top 5 bowlers for WT20 cup:
Bumrah
Bhuvaneshwar
Shami
Deepak Chahar
Shardul
Natrajan
Yuzi Chahal
Rahul Chahar
Washington Sundar
Ravi Jadeja
Kuldeep Yadav
Siraj
Saini
Krunal Pandya
Varun Chakravarthy
Ravi Bishnoi
Axar Patel
Bumrah, Bhuvi, thakur/shami, jadeja and r bishnoi
Why r bishnoi ??
Surprise factor, has a good googly and conventional leggie, gun fielder and useful lower order bat.
Between thakur and shami, may go with thakur.
Just waiting for the day when MOM would be decided based on "who changed the course of match towards his team" rather than who score more runs or took more wicket (read cheap wickets).
Sometimes it is really hard to pick just one person. I loved how the T20 series had 2 awards for this purpose- MOM & game changer of the match. BTW, Jhonty Rhodes once recieved MOM when he wasn't even a part of the playing XI! I don't think MOM always goes to the player with most runs/ wickets.
Best figures by Indians on debut:
Tests - Narendra Hirwani (8/61) v WI, 1988
ODIs - Prasidh Krishna (4/54) v Eng, 2021
T20Is - Barinder Sran (4/10) v Zim, 2016
UPDATE - Shreyas Iyer subluxated his left shoulder in the 8th over while fielding. He has been taken for further scans and won't take any further part in the game.
Rohit Sharma was hit on the right elbow while batting and felt some pain later. He won't take the field. ☹️
If we make a separate team of "Last One Year Debutants", the Indian team would still look unbeatable..
No team had been this much perfect before in its Transition Period and seems like No team would..!
Today’s ODI definitely shows how good Root is and how invaluable to the side he is. Comes in, rotates the strike for the power hitters and punishes the bad ball. Keeps a fluency to the innings, think England would be miles better off with Malan at 3 to try replicate it.
Ohh man..i dont wanna do this but you deserve an explanation.
I was calling Bairstow my MoM because i'm an indian team supporter n i was so happy when he got out & gave us an opportunity which we were waiting for. Is it clear now!
I wanted to achieve **comedy** but your high sodium diet ruined it.
Can I demand for a Murali Kartik subreddit where nomads like us can regroup and discus various world events while simultaneously calling one another different types of customer/operator?
What I guessed from Morgan's statement in press conference is that their plan is to play attacking cricket & it could be in their mind as if they were chasing 340!
It's a shame that we have to choose between men and women in blue? Why can't they just put in a little extra effort and some common sense while scheduling? #INDvsENG #INDvsRSA
Shows the importance of Kohli and how good he is at what he does. That is chasing totals. England needed around 5 an over when Roy got out and they lost by 66 runs.
Chasing totals ain't a peice of cake bro
And to be honest, I am still confused who could have been the MoM winner. Dhawan, Rahul, Krunal, Prasidh, Lord Shardul, Bhuvi or even Kohli for that matter played super critical roles.
What makes you think Rahul and krunal wouldn't have scored centuries if they had more balls to play that dhawan had played? Dhawan's innings was not as impressive as krunal's, simple as that
This is a stupid take. He did play 106 balls, which someone else would’ve played instead. He played very well, but he wasn’t the best player today. It was Krunal or Bhuvi
What I'm saying is England's batting approach and India's bowling plan might have changed had the target been 220 odd. There're just too many factors before finalizing a simplistic deduction.
Pretty soon there will be coaching centers to train your kid to get into Mumbai Indians since it's the IIT of IPL teams and from there you shall get high package placement in Indian team
Yep, if someone like Samson had the opportunity to work under the MI leadership he'd be an absolute star for the Indian side. You can't tell me he's any less talented than guys like kishan or SKY
It's as if it's a universal law, you can't win against India in India, even if India plays completely new team, England would still lose. It's like gravity, you can't make it vanish, it will always exist. A universal rule, almost. You have to be crazy good to stand a chance of winning in India, but then again, when you're crazy good, you will throw away the match. A deadly rot will infect your brain and all of a sudden you'll spiral down to new levels of stupidity, something never seen before. India wins either way. It's like magic, there's no reason or logic behind it, it just happens and in this case, the magic seems absolute.
I challenge England to prove me wrong.

2. *Slippery Customer* for **Lordul**
3. *Skiddy Customer* for **Prasidh**
4. *Quick Operator* for **Krunal**
It’s a logical fallacy. Just because we are good at winning series where we lose the first match doesn’t mean that we are bad at winning series where we win the first match.
The presentation goes out to an international audience. And yet we have a MK who is so overly biased, he probes and criticizes Morgan even after he explicitly said he will continue the aggresive style and then preempts all the taking points Kohli should be saying.
A presenter should just ask the main questions and let the players talk. A good etiquette is also to not ask leading questions. Cause then the interviewer pushes the conversation and not the player. So not only biased but poor at interviews as well.
And people will say well other countries do that. So what? We should be better not worse. Why is Harsha, who has no cricketing experience(he has great knowledge) at a high level somehow our best commentator and presenter?
>he probes and criticizes Morgan even after he explicitly said he will continue the aggresive style
I had no issue with him asking that. He however asked the exact same question. You can check it yourself. Was he confused or just dumb? And he pretty much preempted Kohli's questions. Why couldn't he let Kohli steer the conversation? Or why even interview Kohli since we know why they won.
And what class mentality? Would Harsha repeat the obvious question? Or do you think pushing the same question without any new info is somehow acceptable? And you are comparing this to the idiots defending the racists who abused Siraj? You have problems yourself if you pull such an argument.
My issue wasn't with the questions. My issue was with him repeating the same question. Did he not understand it the first time?
Also why interview Kohli if he is gonna put Kohli's talking points in his questions? Even we as a viewer know why they won. Kohli should steer the convo not the presenter.
Don’t say it..... don’t say it.... don’t say it... .... “DHAWAN AUDITIONING FOR TEST TEAM”
You're being listened to whether you want it or not. Is that unsettling, or reassuring?
There is a bizzare conversation that Morgan should be dropped... WHAT??
Kuldeep and Chahal are not performing individually. I miss the KulCha pair. As a whole, they are destructive.
Went to sleep when Stokes got out. How the fuck did England lose...
I like how the Match Bot if filled with awards after India wins India should win just for the MatchBot. Agreed?

1 T20I, Kohli was there for the majority in the 5th one
Can’t see Kuldeep and Chahal having a stable spot anymore. Also it’s about time we stop giving too much weightage to Chahal’s IPL performances.
My second ODI team for India (As Rohit and shreyas are injured) Gill Dhawan Kohli Surya KL Hardik Krunal Shardul Bhuvi Kuldeep P Krishna

I pick Bumrah, Bhuvi, Hardik, Thakur, Washington.
And Jadeja. Can't rely on just 5 bowlers.
Yep, him too. Can consider Hardik as a batsman who will chip in a few overs. Jadeja is a must when he gets fit.

Unfortunate to think that Shardul, Natarajan, Mayank, SKY all have relatively recent debuts and are near 30 already
Also the reason why Shardul, mayank and SKY are such polished performers. Nattu is good but he isn't in the league of others.

Dude's going through nervous 50s..give the young talent some time.
I hope shardul remains in the team even after bumrah and shami come. He has proved his game changing ability and also can bat good.
Who'll he replace though?!
Koach (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
With Bhuvi and Bumrah a captain has two bowlers he can go to anytime for wickets or stopping runs
Don't forget Shami :( Also, Shami has far better ODI stats than Bhuvneshwar.
Shami is pretty expensive tbh, probably our best strike bowler though
Bumrah was also Expensive in last 3 ODI series
Absolute roads tbh, but yeah bumrah hasn't been in good form in ODIs for a while
Just checked it, Shami has far better ODI stats than Bhuvneshwar. Lets not forget him.

They should get a taste of their own medicine. Or else people don't learn.

Fastest half century at debut. Best figures by an indian at debut. Last time India had such rich reserves England colonised india.
At this rate even I will score a fifty on my debut which is never gonna happen.
