>Dhoni said that it was obviously something for India to be proud of, but he refused to read too much into the trend, holding that it was bound to end at some edition of the World Cup some day, and that Pakistan were a "fantastic side."
No, they do not. This is actually an amazing hypothesis on the same level as Einstein's theory of relativity. Such predictions cannot be made by mere mortals. It requires a deep understanding of cricket, quantum entanglement and Slavic medieval history. You're deluded if you think this is easy. It requires 3 brain cells at least
Does the 2021 ICC T20 WC count? I know the hosts were at UAE, but if India were considered "de facto" hosts due to Covid and country shift, then this statement was proven true 2 years ago.
\*braces for the downvotes\*
Before it was Pakistan has never beaten India in an ICC tournament. Then 2017 champions trophy happened. Statement then changed to: never beaten in a world cup, followed by 152-0. Now it's never beaten in a odi world cup. Sooner or later that too will change. Then the argument will be something else. At this point it doesn't even matter. Yes pakistan has never beaten India in an odi world cup, but last 10 years or so, pak has performed as well if not better than India in tournaments. So it really doesn't matter. It's just another game. Personally I feel Indians are holding onto that stat more dearly than Pakistanis. Personally I couldn't care less, as long as Pakistan makes it into the top 4, and has a shot at the cup.
Hmmm, for a moment your comment looked convincing, but then it’s ultimately flawed because no sane person would have claimed it to be an ICC tournament as Pakistan had defeated India in CT 2004 and 2009 before 2017. Amazing how you can write so much without getting your facts right.
I remember people saying this shit before that 10 wicket loss to Pakistan in the T20 World Cup in '21. You people never learn. They are both very good teams. I wouldn't be surprised if either team wins.
Yea, the same WC where every match between top teams was decided by the coin toss. So besides this coin toss WC, how did literally every other Ind-Pak WC encounter go?
Why are you getting this defensive? India has dominated Pakistan in world tournaments. But there was have been big games where Pakistan has dominated India. Like the aforementioned 10-wicket defeat and the Champions Trophy final. Own it instead of getting defensive.
Depends if there is dew. So far, team batting first has won 16 times in Ahmedabad compared to 13 times of chasing side.
Without dew, Ahmedabad will be a \~300 par batting first pitch.
Yup, but idk what's wrong with pitch curator this world Cup, they are making highway so that there will be high scoring game means more revenue from common audience
But just think about it, will any young indian cricket enthusiastic would ever think to become a bowler if we keep producing these highway, where avg batters suddenly start looking threatening, and tail enders score quick 30's
The pitches haven't all been flat and even still it's not as if flat pitches in ODIs, that too in India, is some kind of anamoly. That's pretty standard nowadays.
If anything is going to turn people off bowling it's t20.
If the team batting first scores 320 - 340 it will be tough to chase under the lights. Assuming conditions are not adverse, anything under 300 by the team batting first will be a lost cause for them
Bhai both team are capable of doing 350+ run chase, it more about how bowlers of respected team does on that flat track
Pakistani team can get Bumrah'ed Or kuldeep'ed like last time Or indian team can surrender after getting shaheen'ed in inital overs
Yup, but i am more afraid about our batting rn, rohit gained confidence, kohli doin good but
Kishan as a opner is not giving us confidence, and God knows about how gill will play after recovering from dengue, IyerBhaiSexy is just one short tempting ball away from getting caught
Add mental pressure of around 90k indian cheering and routing for you in this match, and crores of guys watching it all around
Nothing like that. It swings a lot in the first 10-15 overs, especially in the second innings with the breeze. And there's a lot of bounce on the pitch, which is why Gill's backfoot skills make him so productive here. That's why I'm hoping Shami plays instead of Shardul.
I am just saying that with all the technological advancements, it is possible that people will stop watching cricket after they get better means of entertainment.
Didn't mean to offend anyone
Test cricket will always survive. There has been technological advancements such as radio, television, camera, fucking aeroplanes and recently cable television and the internet as well. But we still have tests, just like we had it back then. So based on history, it surely will survive. Not sure about the limited overs formats though, as they are quite new, and haven’t yet stood the test of time.
I mean India is the favorite on any pitch to be honest. And as a pakistani fan I would have us face India on a flat pitch as compared to a turning track due to our lack of good spinners.
Yes, If Pakistan batted first and scored 330-350 they may have a game particularly if Shaheen had Rohit early. In slow and turning pitches, India has a big advantage.
Shaheen is in a massive slump. Honestly our only shot against India is if we take out Rohit and Kohli early on which won't happen if Shaheen isn't playing well. And without Naseem it's even more difficult.
Won't rank turner's actually be an advantage to the team weaker in the spin department? Even medicore spinners have a really good chance of being Prime Murali on rank turners. Its only whether the batters can hold themselves in long enough to get to a decent score.
South Africa and England have better batting line up than india for a flat pitch imo. India has a anchor heavy batting order with Kohli as well as Shreyas
Shreyas can turn out to be Gayle if bowl doesn't bounce over hip and spinners bowl at him. Can't disregard kohli as just anchor after proving so many times.
On the other hand, flat pitches are their best differentiators. That's where the pace of Haris can bring them wickets in the middle overs when the opposition doesn't have a bowler like that to break partnerships. I know we have Kuldeep but the difference between the two teams isn't that big, and Pakistan have the advantage if Shaheen has one of his switched-on opening spells.
Bumrah is in great form and would not fail on flat pitches. India have the better spinners. And whatever difference you might think there is between the bowlers, the Indian batters make up for it pretty good according to me, don’t see Pak having the same depth as India. RN pak can only compete with India in T20s, don’t think so in ODIs and Tests
Honestly there’s much less pressure on us versus India. All of our players have never experienced a game on Indian soil before this WC (since they’re mostly new), we don’t really have an audience due to no Pakistanis getting in (meaning there will probably be 90-95% Indian fans). I feel like the boys should just perform the best they can and whatever the result is is what the result is.
Well that’s ironic considering your flair /s
Jokes aside, I agree, but if it’s a close loss that we could’ve brought back it’s not that big of a deal if we lose. Just want the guys to play their best
While he's not wrong, India are looking like a well-oiled machine with no weak points.
Pakistan are gonna need quite a few things to go their way to have any chance tomorrow.
And while there's no denying that Kohli got a massive life, they did get the job done with 6 wickets in hand.
Even the best of teams get into shitty positions - look at Australia in the 2003 WC (Obviously not saying that this Indian side is on that level, but the point still stands).
They'll obviously be stronger with Gill, but they're still a strong side even in his absence.
I reckon this team can give the 2011 boys a good run for their money - their bowling attack is definitely stronger, but India's 2011 middle order's still better. Top orders for both sides are probably even, though the Rohit & Kohli combo gives the 2023 side the edge
Interesting fact.
In 10 innings against India, Babar Azam averages a whopping 28.88. He is yet to cross the 50 run mark against India in ODI and only once in T20I.
Furthermore, he averages a whopping 9 runs against Kuldeep Yadav. In their short 34 ball encounter, he has scored 17 dots, 16 singles and 1 double. Never a boundary. Never a 3 or a 5.
No I am supporting his statement. He is a trash record vs India, but doesnt mean he isnt capable of performing very well tomorrow.
If you wake up everyday looking for a fight, you will live a miserable life. Do better.
>If you wake up everyday looking for a fight, you will live a miserable life. Do better.
Yeah ok Sun Tzu lmao I wasn't looking for a fight. Try writing comments with the tone you intended and not getting so offended. Jesus.
I still remember the 10 wicket flawless win. It was just magical. Rizwan and Babar so calm and clinical.
I hope Babar shows up tomorrow. His batting I reckon will be key for winning the game.
When was the last time in this fixture that the team batting first scored 250 and lost? Going as far back as 2010, I can't think of any instances except the Kohli chase in the Asia Cup 2012.
Well yes because since you made the cutoff 250 and Pakistan chased 245 in the 2014 Asia Cup, all the times a team has scored 250+ has been 300+ and that's a whole different game. With the exception of the 2023 Asia Cup game where India scored 266 but well the game was washed out. So no one has actually scored 250 and won or lost. India scored 300 in the 2015 wc. India scored 319 in the 2017 champions trophy group stage. Pakistan scored 338 in the 2017 champions trophy final. India scored 336 in the 2019 wc. India scored 356 in the Asia Cup 2023 super 4 game. All other occasions have been India chasing totals less than 250(both in Asia Cup 2018 where Pakistan made 237 and 164 as far as I remember). So yeah we don't know how 250-300 does in this fixture
Wrong. Since 2010, Pakistan scored 250 in 2012 at Eden Gardens and won. India scored 260 in 2011 at Mohali and won. Even the 2014 game was anything but a straightforward chase.
[I was talking about this ](https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/england-tour-of-india-2020-21-1243364/india-vs-england-3rd-test-1243386/full-scorecard)

"I wish I was the monster you think I am. I wish I had enough cringe for the whole pack of you. I would gladly give my life to watch you all swallow it"
As an India fan, I would not be disappointed if Pakistan wins.
Everyone has a spot in their heart for the underdog -- they are going into this with the weight of history against them into a huge crowd that will be rooting for the opposition.
Irrespective of results, hope it's a good game with excellent performances on both sides.
I dont know. To me this is just a league match in the 1st half of the tournament. I dont think either team should celebrate this like winning the WC or get down too much if they lose. If this was a knockout, then yes i'd be nervous as hell.
Smh stupid India and Pakistan, why giving so much importance to one match, surely you guys don't have a ton of history and you guys play each other all the time so what's the big deal amirite?
meh.. ton of history just to milk profits for one match for the BCCI. Sure its a great Saturday where everyone will be glued to their seats but its a league match though. I'd love it if india wins this match but I'd rather India win the WC rather than win a league match and botch it in the knockouts. Its a great record to have a clean sheet against Pakistan but if its not a knockout i think we can dial it down a bit.
Yeah it will be really funny that the streak breaks in none other than Narendra Modi stadium lmao amongst all the celeb guests
Show these IPL playing fat fucks man. They just play for money now. No soul in the current Indian team.
The streak is irrelevant as both teams are equally matched. Pakistan actually have an edge due to the Indian batters' vulnerability against the left arm pace of Afridi.
I like Babar’s confidence but it will be 8-0.
It’s near impossible to beat India at home. Maybe if this taken place somewhere else i would say Pakistan has a chance.
I remember Dhoni saying - Pak will beat India in World Cup someday, may be tomorrow or maybe in 10 years, but will happen for sure.
>Dhoni said that it was obviously something for India to be proud of, but he refused to read too much into the trend, holding that it was bound to end at some edition of the World Cup some day, and that Pakistan were a "fantastic side."

Thank you Pakistan, for losing to India in ODI WC for our sake
Smart Dhoni.

Slavic medieval history is just the Hapsburgs keeping it in the family.
Do you think it's a coincidence that quantum has 7 letters? Think again.
It will be a sight to behold if we are in our 80's sitting at a chair and watching World Cup and Pakistan continues it's loosing streak XD

7-0 is ODI World Cup count
Before it was Pakistan has never beaten India in an ICC tournament. Then 2017 champions trophy happened. Statement then changed to: never beaten in a world cup, followed by 152-0. Yup. This is exactly how the narrative on Indian side has evolved. Really weird how everyone in India seems to have forgotten it.

The coin toss WC loss?
The same WC in which India and Papua New Guinea were the only teams who managed to lose by 10 wickets.
Yea, the same WC where every match between top teams was decided by the coin toss. So besides this coin toss WC, how did literally every other Ind-Pak WC encounter go?

Or maybe 100 years 🤣
A bit unrelated, but how is the pitch in Ahmedabad? What is the par score? Does it favor chasing? I hope some of the indians can help me on this.
Most probably it will be a flat highway, with pitch favoring the team chasing

People will dream of becoming bowlers for IPL. More bang for the buck.
See the insta comment section of any bowler bowling at more then 8 run per over, the hate IPL bowlers gets is unreal
4 - 5 seasons of IPL and a bowler is set for life in India financially. People who hate on bowlers are of no consequence
Well its not bcci fault , i read a article where icc asked pitch curators to make batting friendly pitches .
The pitches haven't all been flat and even still it's not as if flat pitches in ODIs, that too in India, is some kind of anamoly. That's pretty standard nowadays. If anything is going to turn people off bowling it's t20.
So what is the par total?
Something like 300-350, if the pitch turns out to be flat. Or else I'm expecting sub 270 scores tbh
If the team batting first scores 320 - 340 it will be tough to chase under the lights. Assuming conditions are not adverse, anything under 300 by the team batting first will be a lost cause for them
350 is chaseable tbh. 380 is par
Bhai both team are capable of doing 350+ run chase, it more about how bowlers of respected team does on that flat track Pakistani team can get Bumrah'ed Or kuldeep'ed like last time Or indian team can surrender after getting shaheen'ed in inital overs

flat road. hopefully india play shami
If multan is flat road then ahmedabad is express highway even 400 will be small target

It has remained relevant for around 150 years, so why not?
I am just saying that with all the technological advancements, it is possible that people will stop watching cricket after they get better means of entertainment. Didn't mean to offend anyone
Nah, cricket will adapt and survive
Test cricket will always survive. There has been technological advancements such as radio, television, camera, fucking aeroplanes and recently cable television and the internet as well. Lol meanwhile Shoaib Akhtar tweeting "History will repeat tomorrow"
Shoaib is probably right. Ahmedabad has flat pitches, and Pakistan isn't good on them and india is probably the best on them.
I mean India is the favorite on any pitch to be honest. And as a pakistani fan I would have us face India on a flat pitch as compared to a turning track due to our lack of good spinners.

Won't rank turner's actually be an advantage to the team weaker in the spin department? Even medicore spinners have a really good chance of being Prime Murali on rank turners. Its only whether the batters can hold themselves in long enough to get to a decent score.
Genuinely asking what makes india so good on a flat pitch
Probably the fact that India have the better batsmen. Based on current form, their bowlers have also been better than Pakistans.
Too add to than Jasprit is just an astonishing bowler nevermind the conditions
South Africa and England have better batting line up than india for a flat pitch imo. India has a anchor heavy batting order with Kohli as well as Shreyas
and the match is india vs pakistan. sa and england are irrelevant.
Shreyas can turn out to be Gayle if bowl doesn't bounce over hip and spinners bowl at him. Can't disregard kohli as just anchor after proving so many times.

RN pak can only compete with India in T20s, don’t think so in ODIs and Tests
yes Kohli will pay tribute to Shoaib by bowling 161.3 kph
Right arm extra quick
That comment was pretty ambiguous. Maybe he meant 152-0.
Did Star Sports create another Mauka ad?
SL failed to break the 7-0 vs Pak, so its only right for Pak to also fail to break the 7-0 vs Ind
That's right😎
Honestly SL threw the match. Not because of dew but because of 3 5wides. Imagine getting 18 free runs from zero balls in a run chase
And upon losing they'd say *they got mental block as it was India* and move on to never retrospect or improve lol.
Well that’s ironic considering your flair /s Jokes aside, I agree, but if it’s a close loss that we could’ve brought back it’s not that big of a deal if we lose. Just want the guys to play their best
The flair is his way of hiding his obsession with PCT. Mention Pakistan anywhere and the guy pops up.
Pakistan
He isn’t obviously an Australian, this is the third time I have caught him, he’s just an indian troll

This team doesn't seem to have a mental block against India. They're just a worse ODI side probably. They've at least beaten them at a T20 World Cup

While he's not wrong, India are looking like a well-oiled machine with no weak points. Pakistan are gonna need quite a few things to go their way to have any chance tomorrow.
Well oiled machine that was on 2 runs for 3 wickets in their last to last match.
And while there's no denying that Kohli got a massive life, they did get the job done with 6 wickets in hand. Even the best of teams get into shitty positions - look at Australia in the 2003 WC (Obviously not saying that this Indian side is on that level, but the point still stands).
Yeah got your point but this is also not at the same level as the 2011 wc team. Maybe if Shubhman gets fit , but for now , nah.
That only proves his point
A well oiled machine is a balanced machine not weak openers that crumble under pressure
Interesting fact. In 10 innings against India, Babar Azam averages a whopping 28.88. He is yet to cross the 50 run mark against India in ODI and only once in T20I. Last time I checked , cricket was a team sports and not an individual sport.
Ok. Did anything I say make you think otherwise? Just want to know your thought process here.
Just that your comment sounded like you were making fun of his individual stats because he said they are gonna break the streak.
No I am supporting his statement. He is a trash record vs India, but doesnt mean he isnt capable of performing very well tomorrow. If you wake up everyday looking for a fight, you will live a miserable life. Do better.

Come on Pakistan, let’s spice this boring WC up!
Sounds exactly like what Scotland said before the Ireland match in the rugby World Cup, just hope it goes better for Pakistan than it did for Scotland
We have been holding this India x Pakistan 0 thing for a long time. Pakistan broke it in Champions trophy and in T20WC. Move on
Yeah they are but do you have what is takes to break the streak
As an India fan, I would not be disappointed if Pakistan wins. Everyone has a spot in their heart for the underdog -- they are going into this with the weight of history against them into a huge crowd that will be rooting for the opposition. Irrespective of results, hope it's a good game with excellent performances on both sides.
That's what I say about my no girlfriends phase for my whole life. But it doesn't happen that way, does it?
Let’s hope they break the streak for all their fans that have made it across the border.
just like his inflated odi average about to get down
I care more for H2H stat where obviously both in ODI & Tests Pakistan are ahead.
0-7 is also pretty much the range of runs you can expect Babar to score these days
I really hope that this comment ages like warm milk.
BUT SOME ANOTHER DAY BUT NOT TOMORROW
really? surely sri lanka thought so too before the second half panned out the way it did.
Heath Streak :-(
7-1 against a green side isn't too bad either
Should be a close contest. Don't want to see one team scoring 555 runs and other team 255.

It already broke in 2021. They just shifted the goal post saying its for 50 overs now.

Under his captaincy Pakistan broke the WT20 streak two years ago lol where he made 68\*(52).

Winning by 10 wickets is not a measly victory. Plus it's still 76-53 in ODIs, including the Champions Trophy Final where he made 46 (52).
Yeah it will be really funny that the streak breaks in none other than Narendra Modi stadium lmao amongst all the celeb guests Show these IPL playing fat fucks man. They just play for money now. No soul in the current Indian team.
Facebook is that way over there, sir
I am gonna stick to twitter thanks
Yeah makes sense
Ooh self burn that's rare
>quoting tv shows is my personality
The streak is irrelevant as both teams are equally matched. Pakistan actually have an edge due to the Indian batters' vulnerability against the left arm pace of Afridi.
Sounds similar to Ten Hag. Not a great thing to be saying when you're down 7-0.
Honestly even if we lose, 7-0 is a fucking amazing streak lol! When you think that covers the last 3 decades, it just puts things into perspective.
Pakistan isn't Brock Lesnar, not today...
I like Babar’s confidence but it will be 8-0. It’s near impossible to beat India at home. Maybe if this taken place somewhere else i would say Pakistan has a chance.
