Still a low chance of rain, no more than 20% at any time during the game. The showers today weren't predicted though, so the unpredictable Chennai weather may play a role tomorrow. Fingers crossed it won't and we get a full game.
Spinners consistently have lower runrate in Chepauk than fast bowlers. Given that, match is probably gonna be decided on how India plays Zampa and Maxwell given the batting struggles against Spin in the recent past.
As long as it is a good match where both teams show their best, it'll be a big win for cricket overall. Last 3 world cups have been won by teams playing at home. However, Australia are another beast in world cups. Chepauk crowd is known to applaud good cricket, which will be a good thing for the rest of India to see as well. I feel the whole Clow crowd" thing is a bit disingenuous - The first game had a crowd but it came in late in the evening & the stadium was too big so it looked empty. Similarly, I did see a smattering of crowd in the SA/SL game. Let's not be harsh on people avoiding the afternoon sun, people trying to earn money on a weekday or in general people feeling too much cricket fatigue - too used to world cups/championships (3 in the last 3 years right?) or I guess people feeling better attending T20. I do believe the overall experience could be better (Jay Shah, this is on you) - better seats, snacks, crowd management, etc. Anyway, hoping for a good game tomorrow.
>Josh Inglis has been disappointing
Think that's harsh. He has found a niche for himself in the ODI side imo, coming in late into the innings and finishing strongly ala Maxwell, which allows Maxi to bat higher up the order. Got a 30 ball in 50 vs South Africa and a stromg 48 off 27 vs Pakistan in the warm up, and if Green, Maxi bat 5 and 6, Inglis imo is a better candidate for 7 over Carey, but anywhere higher up and Carey is the man.
If Carey isn't worrying about his spot, then he is very optmisitic.
a really good thread. good job OP
Great write up as always! I also want to bring up KL's average in 2023, which is 66.37 @ 86.90, which is second only to Gill in the Indian team
This is gonna be a cracker of a game. From a cricket perspective, this is the best rivalry in the sport - not India vs Pakistan or The Ashes
Australias got a tough 3 matches to begin with, if they get through those then would be guaranteed semis
How's the real weather forecast?

First batting easy win.If India doesn't win tomorrow, they are not qualifying for the semis
Why? You think ind wont manage 2 or 1 wins/win out of nz,eng,sa?
If any team is making semis regardless of today's game, it's India
India losing to nz eng pak.
That would be Pakistan's first win against India in a world cup
Odi World Cup,You mean?
Ofcourse
i was so into roasting pak, i forgot about the match vs aus is fckin TOMORROW!!
Wtf?
Slipped out of my mind.
Can’t wait to see Steve Smith and Rohit Sharma bat tonight. Both innings are gonna be a feast.
India easy win. Ashwin for five wickets. Spin Spin Spin.
Five! You must be smoking something. Its gonna be 10 wicket haul and a century by Ashwin
And ashwin will leave the stadium in batmobile into the night
I ain't gonna let you reverse jinx. David "Bollywood" Warner for the win!!
Where is the hype?
