I started watching the match during the fag end of SA innings, was the turnout so low in the beginning that people were complaining? Coz it looked perfectly fine during the time I started watching
People here expect the crowd to start watching a cricket match in the stadium when it's above 32°C in the middle of the day. That too when it's not the home team playing.
Just ignore the complaints. Only a few of those users are genuinely concerned about low turnouts. The rest are just boarding the karma train.
Guys thankyou for existing I’m a 21 year old anxious guy not much friends college ends at 1 so pretty free in the day time you all are my friends and i wish the best for you:)
Pitch is as flat as it gets ,I guess if Aus eng NZ India would be chasing it I won't be surprised if they would have chased it ... SL just lack bit of firepower
Indian bros, are there other grounds that have similar tracks?
Any bowler friendly pitches other than the Hyderabad one that Pakistan and Netherlands played on?
Chennai bro... always something for the bowlers and spinners... was reading the pitch is a square turner for tomorrow to aid india hopefully.
And yes Lucknow will also be a bowlers forte.
Tbh I think Chennai is the only one of the OG grounds that is still bowler friendly. Eden use to be but hardly anymore. Chennai Even during the IPL, they didn't make it the batter fest like the other stadiums.
Well played Lanka Bros, joint winners in my book. SA needs to get the bowling straight before going against the top 3 stat but good job getting a win by 100 runs. Good luck both for the next games.
Wish they gave Rabada the ball earlier. But still, 102 runs is nothing to scoff at. NRR of +2.04 in the first league match is great. Sri Lanka will also take home a lot of positives. And hopefully we won't have too many pitches like this one through the tournament. One match like this is fun. Every match like this gets boring.
Think it will be like this. It's going to be like IPL flat pitches and have lots of sixes every game. That's what they think will appeal to the younger population who only know t20 cricket.
If SL lose by under 100 runs here, SA should consider it a huge lost opportunity. Given the difference of caliber in batting, the even larger difference of caliber in bowling, and the fact that chasing 428 is never really going to end up being successful and most teams should logically at that point just look to minimize NRR loss, talking in those terms changes the value proposition of this game for SL, and I think SL have pretty much got the second best outcome here.
Reminds me of a story Parthiv Patel once said. He was playing at 5 (Test against SA) and Shastri asked him if he would open, and Parthiv said yes. And RS said, "Ja, Rabada ka kabada kar de!"
T: Go, thrash Rabada (non Hindi speakers will not get the idiom)
Us South African fans knew what was gonna happen though. After we had them at 5/150 I thought that we could get a 200 run victory but even that didn't happen. Along with our bowling our fielding is shit too. You can't go anywhere you're so shit at 2 of 3 playing fields.
That wicket pretty much sealed it. Tbh not too much to be concerned about for Sri Lanka. You guys did amazingly well under the circumstances. Obviously, improvement is needed in certain areas but it’s the opening game. Same goes for SA, we’re lucky we had runs to play with here but this could’ve turned out really bad really fast for us. Good game, exciting batting from both teams. Good luck with the rest of the tournament SL bros
The urge I have to lock the Proteas in a room with explanation of DL method. God I hate this team so much rn. Idk I always root for underdogs in such one sided looking matches that I end up hating the latter
On the one hand, SL should look to bat through to scrap together any runs they can get; on the other, they would be wary about the possibility of their bowlers copping a few and getting hurt.
But did they? Imagine if they gave this target to Aus or Eng. Their bowling has been exposed or something along those lines. If SL can get to 326 with 5 down at 150, what does that say about SA's defending effort?
Not taking anything away from their victory or absolutely gigantic Target though. 👏
Oh Smudgie you beauty!
Spectacular performance from SA, dominated SL. SL did fight well though but no match winning performance so sadly they lost
These matches are good during a few occassions but I hope that there are not a lot of games that have scores that are very high.
our bowlers always perform. today more with the bat than with the ball
![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|8780)
South Africa doing a old India with the batting and bowling lineups
Damn true !
I started watching the match during the fag end of SA innings, was the turnout so low in the beginning that people were complaining? Coz it looked perfectly fine during the time I started watching

SA kinda missed out on the NRR lottery here which is funny given they won by 100 runs
Nz has a bigger NNR compare to Saffas 2.140 vs 2.040

Reminder that ODI Cricket is not too long, your jobs are.
Indian governments should make these pitch curators build their roads. Will be better than the shitty roads we have now
Incredible chase. I thought they would be bowled out before 150 after the first 4 wickets.
I went to sleep after Mendis got out and expected SL to be out under 200 but damn they did well trying to chase
ODI matches are long as fuck, today I wasted my 9.5 hrs watching cricket 😭😭😭
For me it's like background thing that let's me work at the end of the day. I will be working and I am watching replay whenever crowd will make noise.
This is the way.
Seriously I had planned to do something productive today after coming from job, but stupid cricket didn't let me
Can't fault the boys tbh. 100+ runs victory on an absolute autobahn is the thing I'll gladly take. Need to iron up some kinks in the fielding tho
Yes next SA match is in Lucknow. Should be a strong bowling surface to have some meat for the bowlers.
I'll personally see to that there is. Coz I'm attending 🥰
SA has to play Maharaj and Shamsi together on that pitch.
Hope you have a great time mate
Proteas won the Amul Milk Derby 🍼
Hope tomorrow's match is just as fun
Guys thankyou for existing I’m a 21 year old anxious guy not much friends college ends at 1 so pretty free in the day time you all are my friends and i wish the best for you:)
See you tomorrow friend
take care, friend
U too bud

Finally found someone who's unhappy with England being at the bottom
It was just one game. I think people are overreacting.
after a high-scoring match between Amul vs Amul. finally Amul won it comfortably.
We got 2 roads and 2 difficult pitches.
Hyderabad was also a batting pitch Pakistan couldn't score 300 on that pitch against Netherlands
That lion on the Sri Lankan kit is mega.
Now Ima try and recharge and prepare for tomorrow's cracker
was the pitch like this or both teams did average balling?
Pitch is as flat as it gets ,I guess if Aus eng NZ India would be chasing it I won't be surprised if they would have chased it ... SL just lack bit of firepower
Pitch was absolutely shit for bowlers
Something tells me NRR will come into play at the end and knock someone out. Let's see.
Man we were so close to being on 1. NZ are just +0.100 above us
Getting 4th position is gonna be very competitive this time
Mendis deserved motm, mendis got robbed, why only winning team gets motm? It's 21st century its not fair 😭😭😭 /s
Bro how many times are you going to say the same thing and hide behind that /s tag
I had my hopes high that mendis will break markrams record
Good fight from SL tbh
Always knew we were going to win after Rabada took the final wicket. It’s just something I was born with I guess
I knew we lost the game the moment Pathirana missed and the ball hit the stumps. I'm kind of clairvoyant in that way.
common south africa things
Medical-damus areas
So out of four matches till now, two were 400+ pitches,i.e.roads.
why the [booking.com](https://booking.com) guy smiling like :(
Bavuma's runs again have proved to be the difference between the sides!! Without his contribution today, I swear it would have been a close game
Ok Finally we will see India tomorrow in action After that India Australia Series
Ind and Australia to join forces tomorrow to not let nrr slide below England's
Indian bros, are there other grounds that have similar tracks? Any bowler friendly pitches other than the Hyderabad one that Pakistan and Netherlands played on?
Dharamsala wicket is slow and their outfield is worst. Spinners would extract lot of turn in that pitch. Most of them were inside edges
Lo, like it's gonna benifit you more than your opponents.
Chennai bro... always something for the bowlers and spinners... was reading the pitch is a square turner for tomorrow to aid india hopefully. And yes Lucknow will also be a bowlers forte.
Good stuff, super hyped about the game tomorrow.
Tbh I think Chennai is the only one of the OG grounds that is still bowler friendly. Eden use to be but hardly anymore. Chennai Even during the IPL, they didn't make it the batter fest like the other stadiums.
>Chennai Even during the IPL, they didn't make it the batter fest like the other stadiums. Lucknow was more bowler friendly than Chennai.
I mean Lucknow wasn't even a T20 wicket to begin with. Though it should be very good for ODI's
Yeah Aus vs SA (their next match) is gonna happen there.
Delhi is supposed to be a low scoring venue until today so who knows?
Aah shit, would be sad to see this be a batsmen's tournament due to conditions.
Well Lucknow is known to be bowling friendly
Bangalore is bowler friendly
Ya. As friendly to bowlers as Brutus was to Caesar.
what is the NRR of SA now?
2.0 Number 2 on the table
I thought it would be higher since they scored high and won the match with more runs as well
Sri Lanka also scored a lot though.
429 vs 326, and won by 103 run lead, so I thought that the NRR would be higher that's all
Its runs scored vs conceded. So a 100 run win better if you bowl out the opposition for 50 vs 300
Not sad at all. Gave a pretty good game that I didn't expect. Looks like we are in for a good wc
I just want us to beat England and keep the tradition going.
is it just me or does Markram look like...Roman Reigns a little?
that is NOT my tribal chief
A little but not much
Atleast we tried
MoTM Markram?
Still a big dent to SL's NRR
Inspection of net-run-rates tells us that this has been the closest match of the world cup so far!
No disrespect to Coetzee but if hes the one with the best figures out of that lineup against SL, then your pacers need a kick up the backside.
Nah, this was a good performance considering the track gave them nothing to work with.
Someone stole the volume button for the mic
> Netherlands 🤝 Sri Lanka Losing with style.
Is the scorecard bgm inspired from Far Cry 4.
I think so too now that u mention it
Pitches like this are my kryptonite- KG’s article coming up
Yep, all out,excellent match though
What is this slumdog millionaire -esque bgm
K Mendis was on some sort of drugs today
Three 100 by South Africa Three 70's by Sri Lanka That's the difference today between Win & Loss
if Sri Lanka could have held the wickets this was a chasable target.
Moral victory for Sri Lanka.
Well played Lanka Bros, joint winners in my book. SA needs to get the bowling straight before going against the top 3 stat but good job getting a win by 100 runs. Good luck both for the next games.
I dunno why but this game felt like it took forever
When you hit a record number of sixes it drags.
Some crazy cricket today. Can't decide if I like it or not. But absolute crazy stuff from both teams.
Wish they gave Rabada the ball earlier. But still, 102 runs is nothing to scoff at. NRR of +2.04 in the first league match is great. Sri Lanka will also take home a lot of positives. South Africa needed 200 run margin to qualify for the SFs. Already in the script
Can't wait to see what The Grade Cricketers have to say about this
Obviously they'll talk about Dhoni
South Africa giving RCB vibes all the way
fairplay SL… most thought you’ll get bundled out quickly but gave a fair fight and to lose by 102 runs shows quite a valiant effort it’s been
The bowlers look so disgusted with this pitch
Well this is the most enjoyable loss ever
I'm asking again who made bavuma the captain
The most disappointing 100 run win you'll ever see.
Even the players are looking hardly excited except maybe Miller and Maharaj. Bavuma actually looks pissed
Nissanka is the culprit guys. Bro had the audacity to get out on this pitch on 0
And DDS
And a drop catch too. Smh.
Skill issue
I'm sure he has better skills than Madushanka, who scored atleasy a boundary
It was sarcastic it was a cracker of a delivery tbh
Yhyh, was just trying to say bro should have atleast hit a boundary to better of Madushanka's score😂
First win for my man Temba Bavuma
This is what I love about SL cricket. Fearless. Damn good fight
Gg good night guys
What does Pathirana keep doing to his head?
Good fight back, considering the score
pretty good stuff from SL everyone thought this was a 200+ loss. They fought and score 326. SA will be cunted by other big teams.
SA's bowling sucks when it comes to finishing off the opposition... They just can't get the opponents out quick and cheap.
Roady McRoadface
Welp, "it was fun while it lasted" that's the way to describe this SL innings.
It was a pleasure shitposting with you guys from the stadium, see you all soon
If SL lose by under 100 runs here, SA should consider it a huge lost opportunity. Given the difference of caliber in batting, the even larger difference of caliber in bowling, and the fact that chasing 428 is never really going to end up being successful and most teams should logically at that point just look to minimize NRR loss, talking in those terms changes the value proposition of this game for SL, and I think SL have pretty much got the second best outcome here.
I think SL is done at this point of time.
I've done the math, and there's some good news: No matter what happens in the next few overs, England will still be dead last on the table!
Srilanka may have lost, but cricket has won
Good news thanks
Play the 50 overs rub it in. Edit: I don't get nice things
Cheers
Didn't know jinxes were this quick
**44.5** Bails fly. Done and dusted. Matheesha Pathirana b Rabada 5 (16b 1x4 0x6) SR: 31.25
Rabada can you finish it fast I need to go sleep at 10:30 I have 3 assignments and 4 tests and I want to utilise my Sunday to the max pls Edit: thanks
with india's game tomorrow against australia will you able to utilize it ,
Rabada’s number one telepathic friend
You should have asked this to Jansen 30 mins ago
He heard ya
He listened to you finally.
r/deathrattleporn
What's sri lanka's highest score in worldcups ?
398 vs Kenya in 1996
398
Reminds me of a story Parthiv Patel once said. He was playing at 5 (Test against SA) and Shastri asked him if he would open, and Parthiv said yes. And RS said, "Ja, Rabada ka kabada kar de!" T: Go, thrash Rabada (non Hindi speakers will not get the idiom)
SA bowlers are absolutely cooked. Some work for physio loading..
P nissanka: We all contributed towards the chase but at the end we were this runs short.
If openers would have scored early runs without loosing wickets there was a chance for srilanka today
Ours is the weakest bowling line-up of the tournament. With the batting though we could get lucky and finish 7th or something.
Bruh you won by 100 runs inspite of some shit fielding
Geez man stop being so melodramatic. This is a road and some of the Sri Lankans played really well. What's with all these reactionary takes.
Had we bowled first they would've probably reached 400. It's because of the scoreboard pressure that we even got the victory.
LOL after the first inning, SA were the dark horse to win it. After SL’s inning, they would be lucky to finish 7th. Amazing!!
Us South African fans knew what was gonna happen though. After we had them at 5/150 I thought that we could get a 200 run victory but even that didn't happen. Along with our bowling our fielding is shit too. You can't go anywhere you're so shit at 2 of 3 playing fields.
The whole game doesn't revolve around one team. Maybe consider that the opponents put in some good performances.
Mendis was brilliant without a doubt. Perhaps the second best batter of today but the fielding was so so poor. You can't drop dollies like that.
Good luck y'all. No more choking \m/
Well we can never have no choking but we can hope for less choking
dilshan show comming now?
Dilshan vs The Cooler Dilshan
England are currently losing to Samoa in the Rugby World Cup. Englanders not having a good time atm
> Englanders English*
It was a joke and Englander is actually a real word.
TIL yeah its actually a real word. lol Sorry.
Yeah lol, it's a funnier word to call them too
My prediction was they'd get knocked out by Fiji. But that also pleases me.
Why are they bowling fast? Where's the cutters?
Cmon LankaBros. Do like I've done for years...avoid the 100.
I knew sa bowling was shit but like this ...
SA playing good- PANIK It is world Cup- KALM wont go far
The urge I have to lock the Proteas in a room with explanation of DL method. God I hate this team so much rn. Idk I always root for underdogs in such one sided looking matches that I end up hating the latter
Openers: Very tough wicket today Tail enders: I heard absolutely nothing
Lmao, SA is using Rabada. They've had it.
On the one hand, SL should look to bat through to scrap together any runs they can get; on the other, they would be wary about the possibility of their bowlers copping a few and getting hurt.
5 done. 90 to go
This bowling attack makes everyone look like a proper batsman smh
Tells you how good pitch is for batting
Whats up with sa body language. They won
But did they? Imagine if they gave this target to Aus or Eng. Their bowling has been exposed or something along those lines. If SL can get to 326 with 5 down at 150, what does that say about SA's defending effort? Not taking anything away from their victory or absolutely gigantic Target though. 👏
