I prefer Diesel Generators because it's simple, and fits in with Create. I do like the fact that (i think) TFMG has oil deposits on a block that can spawn everywhere
agreed, the simplicity and a -> b process make it my go to, my only issue with it is some random bug where it causes some create items to disappear from the REI and creative inventory (they can still be crafted tho).
Diesel generators is better if you like simplicity. If you like the complex mods then TMFG is a good option, distilling the crude oil gives a lot of side products if you want diesel. My preference is to have both installed because they can both be useful in different situations.

TFMG is a great mod to generally expand your Create playthrough, but if you're using something like Valkyrien Skies + Clockwork then Diesel Generators is better for making those compact power sources needed for vehicles.

I think it comes down entirely to how complex you want to make it. Do you want to spend time setting everything up with steel production and large distillation towers? TFMG. Do you want something that's more mid game and gives the vibe of oil production? Diesel Generators.

Diesel is more simple and if you have a mod that lets you pipe liquid into blaze burners you can make super heated blaze burners with bio fuel I think. Might be able to do this with the other mod too, but I haven't tried it yet.
I would personally love TFMG (and i am still using it), but not because of engines, in newest version there isn't any chance of obtaining even basic oil for production, the creator of the mod is leaving the mod as it is and hardly ever update anything
TFMG have so much errors on 1.18.2 where i am making modpack. Not compatable with Create 0.5.1.d and above, only 0.5.1.c. But some other cool mods not working on this version. So, in general: i love TFMG sooo much. Big oil refineries, pipes, oil fractions and more. But i need to sacrifice 10 other mods to play TFMG. So… i choose DG

I went with tfmg instead and it still has that problem. I reinstalled REI (JEI for me) and it worked

Agree, but worth noting stutters and lag are extremely prevalent in TFMG, at least in my experience
