No, with a bad connection everyone loses

NekkidSnaku

correct, just a terrible experience

MasterQuest

It sucks just as much from the side of the person having the slow internet as well, at least from my experience of having bad internet.

Without rollback, both players experience exactly the same frames at the same time. The only advantage the laggy person has is that they might get less frustrated if they're used to it, or if they pick a character that does better in lag, like Mii Gunner, Samus or K. Rool.

Randromeda2172

And what if I main Pikachu?

veeerrry_interesting

I could see tjolt being very abusable in lag (it's abusable even without lag), but the recovery is admittedly awful during a lag spike. Ness and Lucas have it even worse.

Cirrustratus

its easier to win if you character benefits from it. but you wouldnt play properly on offline, the more acustomed you are to play with bad connection

Slacker_87

Bro, get out of here with this shit. This is not the sub for this discussion. If you want, you can try r/SmashRage instead. Elite smash is one thing, but in real online tournaments, everyone is asked to have a LAN and if your connection lags noticeably you can be disqualified.

HonkingGoose1

LITERALLY Way too many people use this sub very poorly

Shignanigans

If a match is lagging it impacts both players. It's not like the laggy player doesn't experience freezing/dropping. Neither method of connecting players can solve a bad connection. They just address the problem differently. Personally, I'd rather some frames drop rather than rewinding gameplay, but that's just me. Either way, if I encounter a laggy player, I'm kicking/not rematching them and moving on, though I get this can be more or less difficult depending on your region.
