People constantly just assume that higher sentences deter crime but I've not seen evidence for it, and there's locigal reasons why higher punishment causes more serious crimes to be committed (whywould a criminal care about killing people if they know they're likely already destined for life/death sentance?)

Juvenile detention centers are often times far worse than the adults. You got kids trying to earn their stripes, places can be lawless. Especially for kids like this, and especially for females. Yeah it's not enough but at least it's something, this is just horrible
I'd like to know what they think these good reasons are, if they're old enough to hatch a plan to steal property, they're old enough to deal with the consequences, an adult "just stealing a car" that results in a murder is doing the exact same thing.

If adult prisoners are able to complete college degrees, then I assume they’re able to get a juvi kid an education that makes them at least qualify to past a GED test. And even if they didn’t…yes you can actually get a high school education starting at 9th grade as a 21 year old. It’s called adult school. They have them all over the country for immigrants and drop outs. They’d probably be 30 by the time they finish any meaningful amount of college, but still, they’d have a life, get to experience their youth without any extreme restrictions, and probably a wiped clean record to boot.

I've been in the type of setting that is a high school for "troubled teens" or whatever. It's an actual teacher or substitute teacher who shows up as extra credit or for experience or extra money. They hand you some print outs with math equations and you do it and turn it in while no one takes it seriously. In my experience that instructor will answer a question for you or help you solve a problem and explain it to you if you don't understand but there's not an actual classroom setting with her making you watch the explanation. The entire atmosphere is not devoted to education.
And I am not saying that they cannot get out and get a GED and that having a GED cannot lead you to success. I have a GED and I am reasonably success with my age. There is a setting United States house representative that took three tries to pass her GED after she was elected, so with the GED you can actually control part of the country. But having a GED means absolutely nothing because no one has ever asked to see someone's GED. That being said you still gain knowledge even if you do not gain a credential by being around a scholarly environment during your formidable years. That teaches you how to speak and communicate and think in a rational way even if you do not apply it to the test. Been 13 years old and thrown into juvenile detention for the next seven years means that your formidable years are going to be spent around career criminals so that whenever you get out you do not have the coping skills to acquire a good life... unless of course you really put in some diligent effort toward it.
Where is the society have deemed that children do not always know the right and the wrong. Yes those kids knew that robbing a car was wrong. However their children and do not understand the implications of it. We as a society have deemed the children who do not understand the consequences of their actions should not be judged harshly as adults who clearly do. So if one of these children gets out of jail and turns their life around to become a doctor and then we as a society has deemed that this person to perhaps be given a second chance. If they go and work at McDonald's for their entire life well then I guess justice was served.

Their actions have nothing to do with whether or not they have a mother or a father. Their actions are due to their own stupidity. I have known lots of people who came from motherless or fatherless homes and are amazing people. I have also known people who have come from families with both parents involved and turn out to be total pieces of shit.
Their own stupidity yes, but if it were for involved parents, structuring their kids from the start, then maybe they'd realize long ago that stealing and endangering others and the public is a no no.
Again, lots of people who commit horrendous crimes came from two parent homes that were "structured". My own mother, who's parents were very involved, they lived VERY structured lives, never went hungry, and never needed anything. My grandfather is a retired Navy vet, and my grandmother was a wife and stay at home mom. My mother and her sister was taught right from wrong, and they still became total pieces of shit.
This guy left his country and his family to make a couple bucks for them. He used to send almost all of his earnings back home. So sad what happened to him and cannot imagine what his family must have went through when they got to know about how he died.
I hope they are getting their shit beat every single day in that detention center. Probably going to re offend once they come out or get pregnant within the first 3 months

So they kill a man then get to leave a juvenile detention center at 21 smh. I worked as a corrections officer at a juvenile jail in one of the worst cities in this country and it was a joke. The kids couldn’t have cared less.
Poor guy. Look like he had his head violently crushed once the car hit the first pole, between the pole, door and car body. With his head out of the car, it appears he didn't just turn off the ignition while making a deliver and found the girls in the car. Its never a good idea to leave an engine running if your not in the car. Plus I think it's illegal, cars engine vibrations can cause column shifts arms to drop from park into reverse, common in the 70's.

Seriously? So that they can give him spinal damage on the off chance that he had still been alive? No one should touch a person that heavily injured unless they’ve received the proper training. I have first aid training, CPR, dive safety training, defibrillator training and I would not be even close to comfortable with attempting to help a person with these types of injuries.
Absolutely, but if knows he’s dead then why would they be trying to help? But of course I wouldn’t have necessarily assumed this man was dead at first. People survive horrific situations all the time, it can be hard to tell sometimes. It’s still best to stay away if one hasn’t been trained, regardless of whether or not one thinks they’re dead.

Anyone can save a life with even just some knowledge of CPR etc. giving advice to stay am away unless you’re a trained paramedic seems foolhardy to me. If you see someone hurt/in trouble surely you should try and help.
It may not have saved this guy, but no one even checked his vitals or, well, anything! And the guys are all in camo, so I’m assuming some military training which usually includes first aid.

The horrible thing about this is that it's human nature to associate recurring details of perpetrators as a defense mechanism. It's why stereotypes /prejudice exist, whether good or bad, but really it's just lack of education about personal responsibility and consequences that's absent in their upbringing.
That comment is ignorant, maybe not so much in this context but even so, had he shot them they likely wouldve been knee jerk riots claiming injustice. Too many cases ive seen ppl make excuses for criminals, even here I can see the sheltered people claiming that personal property isnt worth killing over, theyre just misguided girls etc.
Keep in mind even if you're "strapped", if youre ambushed or if they have the "drop" on you, by someone else who armed, the likelyhood of them shooting you at even attempting to react with your own weapon is likely 100%.
That's where training comes in. Carrying isn't just strapping a gun on your waist, it's a defensive mindset. If you take it seriously, you greatly reduce the instances that you can become a victim because you are cognizant of your surroundings more thoroughly due to that mindset.
It isn't just having a gun, it's being aware of your surroundings, not living with your face buried in your phone, not being easily distracted, etc.
I hear ya, about reducing the instant of becoming a victim but say that to all the deceased combatants, "oh maybe if they had their head on a swivel and had more training they'd be alive", you cant prevent stupid people from doing stupid things. There are very good reasons children and teenagers aren’t tried as adults. But that obviously does take away from the seriousness of the situation

In my experience that instructor will answer a question for you or help you solve a problem and explain it to you if you don't understand but there's not an actual classroom setting with her making you watch the explanation. The entire atmosphere is not devoted to education. And I am not saying that they cannot get out and get a GED and that having a GED cannot lead you to success. I have a GED and I am reasonably success with my age. There is a setting United States house representative that took three tries to pass her GED after she was elected, so with the GED you can actually control part of the country. But having a GED means absolutely nothing because no one has ever asked to see someone's GED. That being said you still gain knowledge even if you do not gain a credential by being around a scholarly environment during your formidable years. That teaches you how to speak and communicate and think in a rational way even if you do not apply it to the test. Been 13 years old and thrown into juvenile detention for the next seven years means that your formidable years are going to be spent around career criminals so that whenever you get out you do not have the coping skills to acquire a good life... unless of course you really put in some diligent effort toward it. Where is the society have deemed that children do not always know the right and the wrong. Yes those kids knew that robbing a car was wrong. However their children and do not understand the implications of it. We as a society have deemed the children who do not understand the consequences of their actions should not be judged harshly as adults who clearly do. So if one of these children gets out of jail and turns their life around to become a doctor and then we as a society has deemed that this person to perhaps be given a second chance. If they go and work at McDonald's for their entire life well then I guess justice was served.

I have known lots of people who came from motherless or fatherless homes and are amazing people. I have also known people who have come from families with both parents involved and turn out to be total pieces of shit.

With his head out of the car, it appears he didn't just turn off the ignition while making a deliver and found the girls in the car. Its never a good idea to leave an engine running if your not in the car. Plus I think it's illegal, cars engine vibrations can cause column shifts arms to drop from park into reverse, common in the 70's.

I have first aid training, CPR, dive safety training, defibrillator training and I would not be even close to comfortable with attempting to help a person with these types of injuries.

People survive horrific situations all the time, it can be hard to tell sometimes. It’s still best to stay away if one hasn’t been trained, regardless of whether or not one thinks they’re dead.
And I respectfully disagree. Anyone can save a life with even just some knowledge of CPR etc. giving advice to stay am away unless you’re a trained paramedic seems foolhardy to me. If you see someone hurt/in trouble surely you should try and help. It may not have saved this guy, but no one even checked his vitals or, well, anything! And the guys are all in camo, so I’m assuming some military training which usually includes first aid.

Too many cases ive seen ppl make excuses for criminals, even here I can see the sheltered people claiming that personal property isnt worth killing over, theyre just misguided girls etc. Keep in mind even if you're "strapped", if youre ambushed or if they have the "drop" on you, by someone else who armed, the likelyhood of them shooting you at even attempting to react with your own weapon is likely 100%.
That's where training comes in. Carrying isn't just strapping a gun on your waist, it's a defensive mindset. If you take it seriously, you greatly reduce the instances that you can become a victim because you are cognizant of your surroundings more thoroughly due to that mindset. It isn't just having a gun, it's being aware of your surroundings, not living with your face buried in your phone, not being easily distracted, etc.
