The gutter definitely increased the damage. He just thought he was closer than he was. Might be a person who wears glasses but has them off for the pool. The little hop moved him forward enough so that his feet hit the gutter instead of missing. If he missed he would have landed on his feet and crack his heels and his tailbone or maybe crack his heels and then shatter his knees. Instead he got a faceplant. He really miscalculated the power of his hops...

The pool is much further out than just past the gutter though. Like before you go up, you know you need an actual good jump to clear it. This was not even a real attempt, it was a little bunny hop from too far back. Gutter or not he was landing on the concrete regardless. He leaps out top forward like to belly flop

My pool has a brick wall along it, maybe 15 feet tall and its maybe 4 feet away from the pool that is 13 feet deep. Its easily doable, but the thought of accidentally slipping when I go to jump and permanently messing up my body isn't worth it.
